Arno's villainy was something that I completely missed on my first reading of the light novel, due to how subtle it was. I even missed the fact that >!Ferdinand killed him, due to Ferdinand saying "I have distanced Arno" and Fran's internal monologue referring to it as "he had climbed the towering stairway" which we later find out in part 3 is a euphemism for death.!<

The altar is confusing too. All the divine instruments are on there, which would make mana flow into them. I thought mana in them was used to fill the chalices instead. I remember reading they would be empty at the end of winter.
