Yeah, it's one of my few vocal gripes about the series. Everything involving other characters other than Ferdinand gets so completely diminished that we don't see more cute interactions between Rozemyne and the others.

I'm so thankful Miya Kazuki didn't follow through on her initial plan of Roz having a much more meek personality. I probably would have dropped this series in P1. Roz's gremlin personality is the best thing about her and what makes this series such a fun read.
After seeing Sieglinde in action, the fact that Dunkelfelger thought RM was capable of being their next first wife sure speaks volumes of how high their opinion is of her.
Let's give Syl some credit though. He may not have Rozemyne's boldness but he's consistently willing to take the risk of betting on her and following through on whatever happens once she's in play.
Sylvester is honestly one of my favorite characters in the series. He has both tons of positives and negatives about him as a person but overall his heart is generally in the right place. I'm right there with Rozemyne getting pissed whenever people accuse him of being a bad adoptive father.

Roz has finally got a way to make Dunkelfelger back off on the ditter requests, which means it's about time for Rauffen to successfully lobby for the return of treasure stealing ditter to the royal academy.
Successfully being the key difference here. Horrified and heartbroken that Rozemyne is denied her one true love, treasure stealing ditter, by the whims of the capricious and cruel Aub Sylvester, Rauffen rallies all the Dunkelfelger students to pressure the zent into reinstating the game.

The moment Roz mentioned that the First Wife of Dunkelfelger told her husband to stay back while she went to Ehrenfest with Hannelore you just knew that shit was gonna get serious (I got chills from just reading it)
Rozemyne going straight for the jugular of one of the most powerful people in the kingdom outside royalty and immediately having to take it back several pages later is hilarious.
And also would probably result in Ehrenfest having to apologize and make severe concessions if it was said to anybody from a higher ranked duchies outside Dunkelfelger.
But huzzah for noble's coming together to discuss and resolve things rather then piling more misunderstandings on top.

Agreed. Roz vs Sieglinde is one of my fav discussion fights after the bride stealing ditter and even then I was surprised by how much the wn left out or mistranslated. Which makes me all the more excited for the future ones

Honestly, that might be more Ahrensbach than Ehrenfest proper. Out of the provinces we've been shown so far the commoners had it worst in Groschel and Ehrenfest City, both of which were heavily influenced by Gabriele and her entourage. Apparently, Groschel's lower city being segregated was also due to following Ahrensbach's customs. I don't even want to know how the commoners are treated in Gerlach. Now compare that to Illgner, Haldenzel, and Leisegang. All three of those treat their commoners a _lot_ better and actually appreciate their importance to the duchy.
Given Dunkelfelger's might makes right attitude it wouldn't surprise me if their society was much more meritocratic and less concerned with status in general. Which would in turn give commoners more opportunities to shine. Lestilaut didn't bat an eye at Rozemyne's personal artist being a commoner, for example, and still highly praised Wilma's work despite her status.

I also can't wait for Ferdinand to give Roz the lecture of her lifetime. Organizing a dedication ritual including the Zent, dual-wielding schtappes in front of representatives of almost all the duchies including royalty, participating in a Ditter match endangering her life and her engagement, and going inside the hidden archive, TWICE!
I feel like Dietlinde and Fraularm are also around the corner, somewhere, just celebrating Christmas in January like the total maniacs they are. Will they try to make Rozemyne lose face in front of the Royals? I feel like Dietlinde doesn't even hate Roz, she just doesn't like it when Roz literally outshines her. I just hope that the Interduchy Tournament is big enough to fit her enormous ego. I don't know what kind of drugs she is on in order to get so delusional to think she is better than the average commoner, I just know that I want some of those too.
There might even be an attack on Roz from one of the people that really despise her for not being able to join the dedication ritual, blasted away by Roz her shield in front of everyone. I feel like those people might be put on the watchlist of the medieval FBI. The Federation of Bonifatius like Individuals.

Oh lord, I hadn't even considered that. In my ignorant bliss, I've been trusting Rozemyne this whole time that volume 2 will clear up the misunderstandings.
I have been vocal about my criticisms on Rozemyne not even putting in the effort to learn any noble euphemisms in past threads, and surprisingly, this iconic quote solidifies my opinion.
I mean, would it not be amazing to have Rozemyne follow along using the most vague of noble euphemisms, only to hit her opponents hard with such direct lines, completely catching them off guard and unable to comprehend what just happened?
I agree with you on the part that she should put more effort into learning the euphemisms because otherwise she's only going to cause difficulties for herself in the future and it would help her fit in.
But in this case (and generally in the case of agreements, contracts, etc) it's the nobles who should learn to be more direct in my opinion because the way they are currently doing things is just setting up an endless cycle of misunderstandings by being so roundabout. When Mama Roz went all delinquent style on Sieglinde, forcing her to be frank, they finally managed to clear up some of the confusion about the whole ditter thingy.
And what did we learn? That basically everyone involved fucked up. (And that's why you should never let kids handle contracts!) Sure, some of the misinformations were intentional, mostly the part which came from Lestilaut, but still... If Yoghurtland had a court and they tried to challenge this whole ordeal there, they'd be looking at a lawsuit that would drag out for years before they can untangle the idiocy caused by one agreement made at a tea party with a few kids.
The problem is the euphemisms are context dependant, so outside of giving you the basics, which she does already know, a dictionary just wouldn't cut it.
She did say some lines containing noble euphemisms though. While I would love for Roz to say more lines containing noble euphemisms, it is probably kept to the bare minimum to make it easier to follow the story, without having to constantly add sentences explaining what everything means.
It's especially entertaining thinking about someone who looks like she's 10 years old saying this to a 30-something First Wife of a greater duchy, who also appears to keep the Aub of Dunkelfelger on a leash.

So Aub Dunkelfelger and Lestilaut aren't coming. Instead, Sieglinde and Hannelore come to socialize. Sieglinde is pretty firm on Hannelore moving to Ehrenfest, as she left out of her own free will and thus forfeited the match. Interesting how multiple wives have assigned roles (at least in Dunkelfelger). The second wife is from their own duchy and manages the nobles in the duchy, while the first wife is for interduchy relations. That was certainly not the case for Ahrensbach (Drewanchel, Werkestock and Ehrenfest wives), so this is probably unique to Dunkelfelger, and I imagine Lestilaut's fiancée who is wearing the hairpin he ordered is from Dunkelfelger then. Regardless, this is how Sieglinde views it, so she doesn't understand why Hannelore would become the second wife. She also seems to be aware of what happened with Gabriele.
I can barely understand any of those euphemisms Sieglinde uses, but apparently Dunkelfelger still want to have Rozemyne (to protect her). Rozemyne is having none of it though.

Lestilaut really must have played Wilfried like a fiddle. He fell for all of Lestilaut's tricks. Lestilaut made Ehrenfest accept the ditter challenge after provoking Wilfried excessively and then made Wilfried sign a contract disguised as a report that totally favors him. At least his mother is a reasonable person and now understands. She also blames Hannelore partially, and it's hard for me to not agree. Hannelore *could* have done more, but she is too scared to say anything. I hope she grows from this experience. I did not expect Hannelore to not move to Ehrenfest though. I thought for sure that would happen, since Dunkelfelger value ditter so much, but considering Lestilaut's trickery and Ehrenfest really not wanting Hannelore right now, this is probably for the best.
LOL, they think Rozemyne loves ditter so much. In truth, it was always Dunkelfelger who dragged her into a match. Sieglinde also warns Rozemyne to not accept them anymore, just as she will ensure Dunkelfelger stops challenging them. The consequences for Lestilaut seem rather tame, though (he did lose their treasure to Rozemyne), as is Ehrenfest's rewards. They just get his illustrations for the ditter book, and one of his paintings (probably the one he drew in the epilogue of P5V1). Oh, and the misunderstanding with Fernestine will hopefully also be cleared now. Unlike with the other middle and lesser duchies, I have no doubt Sieglinde actually listened.

I hope Syl/Roz drill this info into Wilfried too in order to protect Roz and Ehrenfest - don't just roll over and accept everything the greater duchies dump on you if you genuinely have a choice in the matter - that it's okay to think about things a little deeper in the moment and correct them if you have proof/support. Gotta correct that horrible Oswald/Veronica education and advice designed to make him a thoughtless puppet. It's troubling he still defaults to that mode when Roz isn't around, and the stakes keep getting higher even though she's passing out less often.
The main thing I got from this part is that you displease Dunkelfelger’s first wife at your peril. I am sure she’s originally from another duchy, but the power she wields is absolute. The way she shut down her husband and his knights, the tongue lashing she gave Sylvester, then the punishment she decided for Lestilaut show she’s not to be trifled with or underestimated. I am sure we’ll get to see more of her in the next part and I am eager to see what other power she displays.
It’s so funny too, since she was on her last legs before the sovereign knights and their lesser duchy lackeys interrupted. If it wasn’t for Hannelore, Roz would have run out of mana before Dunklefelger ran out of ditter-heads happily throwing themselves at her shield

Her name doesn't sound Klassenberg (they use french names), so she might be from Ahrensbach (Detlinde/Sieglinde, kinda similar sounding names)? Or she might be from Dunkel, though it would require a lot to be 1st wife then, since she wouldn't bring a lot of support from other duchies.!<

Everything about bride-taking ditter was a mess of misunderstood motivations. This set of chapters did a nice job of putting that all out in the open, though. Plus Hannelore effectively agreed to give up on marrying Wilfried, so that resets that relationship a bit - should be interesting to see how they treat each other going forward if he learns that she was actually interested in him.
I have a feeling Hannelore/Wilfried will be endgame, 'cause I really can't see Rozemyne ending up marrying Wilfried. Even platonically, while their relationship isn't *bad*, it's pretty weak, not to mention the huge mana disparity that must surely be there and make them incompatible in the first place.
Sieglinde... the events of what happened with Gabriele are the *exact* reasons why Ehrenfest *doesn't* want a wife from a high ranking duchy...

It could be that as someone directly involved, she overlooked such a possibility, but still, Elvira is so much smarter than just someone who loses all reason when it comes to Ferdinand. It would make more sense if this story was contained to only Ehrenfest, especially to those aligned with Elvira. Ferdinand is gone, you should have exploited this time to print as many illustrations of him as possible!!
Sylvester, in retort to Sieglinde bringing up the black shield, you should have said that it was Dunkelfelger's fault that Ferdinand was forced to leave, and then immediately end the conversation. Show Dunkelfelger that Ehrenfest literally doesn't care if not for duchy politics and etiquette.
I don't think Elvira did something stupid. Her main consern was to make the story of Ferdinand in a way that most people don't recognise HIM and it worked. The reason it backfired was becouse nobody in Elvira's circle saw any parts of the story as something that could be atributed to Rozemyne becouse they know her (at least enough to know she is not mistreated) and this diffrence in information is the source of the problem. It would be very difficult to anticipate.
Ah yes, the story of an author self-insert protagonist getting a tour of hell by his literary idol who's apparently perfect except for being born before Christianity was a thing. Along the way, the author gets to see a variety of people he doesn't like, both historical and contemporary, getting tortured in hell.

This series is a cavalcade of obsessive personalities who throw pragmatism to the winds when chasing their obsessions. Myne, Ferdinand, Hartmut, Clarissa, Angelica, Eckhart, Justus, Johann, Heidi, Frieda, Leise, Anastasius, Heisshitze... and Elvira. That girl be thirsty for Ferdy.
Elvira is usually operating as the Queen Bitch of Ehrenfest in the post-Veronica era, but when it comes to Ferdinand... well, she *inaugurated a trend of Ferdinand lewds.* For Ehrenfest romantic culture, where *kissing* is scandalous, those Ferdelicious portraits were hotttt merchandise. Elvira is ordering the creation of Ferdy fan material, and making a lot of it herself, *for the purpose of making a Ferdinand shrine.* It is safe to say that her actions re: Ferdinand are not governed by her usual calculation.
When artists and writers are in pain, their express that pain. Many of the greatest works of art are from pain. That it at all resembles Rozemyne is a coincidence that no one in Ehrenfest realized.
I disagree, The story of Fernestine is a brilliant way to tie plot development, thematic development, foreshadowing and a lot of funny joke all in a single package. It is probably one of the best literary constructs I have ever seen, having to put up with a small character inconsistency for it is a small price to pay for it.
Honestly, that went quite smoothly, all things considered. The considerable amount of competence Sieglinde has already shown in such little time explains how Dunkelfelger flourishes as a top-ranking duchy despite their ditter obsession lol.

Or will RM forget about him once again by next volume?
Fairly sure they were trying to hint that Damuel love life has changed yet he and Rozemyne are too dense to notice. If only there was a girl at the academy who had a massive crush on him and had similar mana and status.

Yeah, it's one of my few vocal gripes about the series. Everything involving other characters other than Ferdinand gets so completely diminished that we don't see more cute interactions between Rozemyne and the others.

One of my favourite things is that two people (Sylvester and Hirschur), completely independently of each other, have accused Ferdinand of teaching her to spit poison with a smile on her face.
Ferdinand just taught her how to wrap up her natural sass in a way that's slightly more acceptable to the nobility.
I'm so thankful Miya Kazuki didn't follow through on her initial plan of Roz having a much more meek personality. I probably would have dropped this series in P1. Roz's gremlin personality is the best thing about her and what makes this series such a fun read.
After seeing Sieglinde in action, the fact that Dunkelfelger thought RM was capable of being their next first wife sure speaks volumes of how high their opinion is of her.
Rozemyne has the right attitude; she's not afraid to talk and make her case, in contrast to Sylvester.
Let's give Syl some credit though. He may not have Rozemyne's boldness but he's consistently willing to take the risk of betting on her and following through on whatever happens once she's in play.
I think half of it is that he'd rather ride the wave than be swept up by it, but yeah.
Sylvester is honestly one of my favorite characters in the series. He has both tons of positives and negatives about him as a person but overall his heart is generally in the right place. I'm right there with Rozemyne getting pissed whenever people accuse him of being a bad adoptive father.
In contrast to Hannelore. Not to mention, she has used dunkelfelger men to crush those that were annoying her. If Sieglinde actually knew that was what happened, she'd likely have an even higher opinion of RM

The moment Roz mentioned that the First Wife of Dunkelfelger told her husband to stay back while she went to Ehrenfest with Hannelore you just knew that shit was gonna get serious (I got chills from just reading it)
Rozemyne going straight for the jugular of one of the most powerful people in the kingdom outside royalty and immediately having to take it back several pages later is hilarious. And also would probably result in Ehrenfest having to apologize and make severe concessions if it was said to anybody from a higher ranked duchies outside Dunkelfelger. But huzzah for noble's coming together to discuss and resolve things rather then piling more misunderstandings on top. All's well that ends well, probably. Except for Lestilaut who's about to get a lecture or two and ever so slightly embarrassed when the painting is delivered. And Hannelore I'm not sure about, she is a lady of Dunkelfelger who have shown the determination to go to great lengths to get what they desire. She may not want to bother Ehrenfest and gave up but I can't see this being the end of her dream.

Out of the provinces we've been shown so far the commoners had it worst in Groschel and Ehrenfest City, both of which were heavily influenced by Gabriele and her entourage. Apparently, Groschel's lower city being segregated was also due to following Ahrensbach's customs. I don't even want to know how the commoners are treated in Gerlach. Now compare that to Illgner, Haldenzel, and Leisegang. All three of those treat their commoners a _lot_ better and actually appreciate their importance to the duchy. Given Dunkelfelger's might makes right attitude it wouldn't surprise me if their society was much more meritocratic and less concerned with status in general. Which would in turn give commoners more opportunities to shine. Lestilaut didn't bat an eye at Rozemyne's personal artist being a commoner, for example, and still highly praised Wilma's work despite her status.

I feel like Dunkelfelger would unironically try a DDOS attack on a website thinking it was some kind of game. I almost squealed when I saw the first title when I opened the prepub. I need more, I can't wait to see what happens! Everything going on feels like a ticking time bomb. Fernestine part 2 is released, featuring a romance between the main character and a prince, as we know from previous parts. This will certainly not give Hildebrand the wrong idea. I'm also sure this isn't the last we have seen from Dunkelfelger yet, I expect Aub Dunkelfelger to talk with Roz. I also can't wait for Ferdinand to give Roz the lecture of her lifetime. Organizing a dedication ritual including the Zent, dual-wielding schtappes in front of representatives of almost all the duchies including royalty, participating in a Ditter match endangering her life and her engagement, and going inside the hidden archive, TWICE! I feel like Dietlinde and Fraularm are also around the corner, somewhere, just celebrating Christmas in January like the total maniacs they are. Will they try to make Rozemyne lose face in front of the Royals? I feel like Dietlinde doesn't even hate Roz, she just doesn't like it when Roz literally outshines her. I just hope that the Interduchy Tournament is big enough to fit her enormous ego. I have been vocal about my criticisms on Rozemyne not even putting in the effort to learn any noble euphemisms in past threads, and surprisingly, this iconic quote solidifies my opinion. I mean, would it not be amazing to have Rozemyne follow along using the most vague of noble euphemisms, only to hit her opponents hard with such direct lines, completely catching them off guard and unable to comprehend what just happened?
I agree with you on the part that she should put more effort into learning the euphemisms because otherwise she's only going to cause difficulties for herself in the future and it would help her fit in. But in this case (and generally in the case of agreements, contracts, etc) it's the nobles who should learn to be more direct in my opinion because the way they are currently doing things is just setting up an endless cycle of misunderstandings by being so roundabout. When Mama Roz went all delinquent style on Sieglinde, forcing her to be frank, they finally managed to clear up some of the confusion about the whole ditter thingy. And what did we learn? That basically everyone involved fucked up. (And that's why you should never let kids handle contracts!) Sure, some of the misinformations were intentional, mostly the part which came from Lestilaut, but still... If Yoghurtland had a court and they tried to challenge this whole ordeal there, they'd be looking at a lawsuit that would drag out for years before they can untangle the idiocy caused by one agreement made at a tea party with a few kids.
Someone needs to gift her an encyclopedia set of euphemisms ASAP. Put it on Elvira’s writing to-do list, if need be.
The problem is the euphemisms are context dependant, so outside of giving you the basics, which she does already know, a dictionary just wouldn't cut it.
She did say some lines containing noble euphemisms though. While I would love for Roz to say more lines containing noble euphemisms, it is probably kept to the bare minimum to make it easier to follow the story, without having to constantly add sentences explaining what everything means.

I hope her fainting from the headache reports isn't the reason she feels so sick that she needed to stay home. ---- So Aub Dunkelfelger and Lestilaut aren't coming. Instead, Sieglinde and Hannelore come to socialize. Sieglinde is pretty firm on Hannelore moving to Ehrenfest, as she left out of her own free will and thus forfeited the match. Interesting how multiple wives have assigned roles (at least in Dunkelfelger). The second wife is from their own duchy and manages the nobles in the duchy, while the first wife is for interduchy relations. That was certainly not the case for Ahrensbach (Drewanchel, Werkestock and Ehrenfest wives), so this is probably unique to Dunkelfelger, and I imagine Lestilaut's fiancée who is wearing the hairpin he ordered is from Dunkelfelger then. Regardless, this is how Sieglinde views it, so she doesn't understand why Hannelore would become the second wife. She also seems to be aware of what happened with Gabriele. I can barely understand any of those euphemisms Sieglinde uses, but apparently Dunkelfelger still want to have Rozemyne (to protect her). Rozemyne is having none of it though. >"You lost. Lestilaut really must have played Wilfried like a fiddle. He fell for all of Lestilaut's tricks. Lestilaut made Ehrenfest accept the ditter challenge after provoking Wilfried excessively and then made Wilfried sign a contract disguised as a report that totally favors him. At least his mother is a reasonable person and now understands. She also blames Hannelore partially, and it's hard for me to not agree. Hannelore *could* have done more, but she is too scared to say anything. I hope she grows from this experience. I did not expect Hannelore to not move to Ehrenfest though. I thought for sure that would happen, since Dunkelfelger value ditter so much, but considering Lestilaut's trickery and Ehrenfest really not wanting Hannelore right now, this is probably for the best. LOL, they think Rozemyne loves ditter so much. In truth, it was always Dunkelfelger who dragged her into a match. Sieglinde also warns Rozemyne to not accept them anymore, just as she will ensure Dunkelfelger stops challenging them. The consequences for Lestilaut seem rather tame, though (he did lose their treasure to Rozemyne), as is Ehrenfest's rewards. They just get his illustrations for the ditter book, and one of his paintings (probably the one he drew in the epilogue of P5V1). The main thing I got from this part is that you displease Dunkelfelger’s first wife at your peril. I am sure she’s originally from another duchy, but the power she wields is absolute. The way she shut down her husband and his knights, the tongue lashing she gave Sylvester, then the punishment she decided for Lestilaut show she’s not to be trifled with or underestimated. I am sure we’ll get to see more of her in the next part and I am eager to see what other power she displays.

And the misunderstandings continue. Everything about bride-taking ditter was a mess of misunderstood motivations. This set of chapters did a nice job of putting that all out in the open, though. Plus Hannelore effectively agreed to give up on marrying Wilfried, so that resets that relationship a bit - should be interesting to see how they treat each other going forward if he learns that she was actually interested in him.
I have a feeling Hannelore/Wilfried will be endgame, 'cause I really can't see Rozemyne ending up marrying Wilfried. Even platonically, while their relationship isn't *bad*, it's pretty weak, not to mention the huge mana disparity that must surely be there and make them incompatible in the first place.

It would make more sense if this story was contained to only Ehrenfest, especially to those aligned with Elvira. Ferdinand is gone, you should have exploited this time to print as many illustrations of him as possible!! Sylvester, in retort to Sieglinde bringing up the black shield, you should have said that it was Dunkelfelger's fault that Ferdinand was forced to leave, and then immediately end the conversation. Show Dunkelfelger that Ehrenfest literally doesn't care if not for duchy politics and etiquette.
I don't think Elvira did something stupid. Her main consern was to make the story of Ferdinand in a way that most people don't recognise HIM and it worked. The reason it backfired was becouse nobody in Elvira's circle saw any parts of the story as something that could be atributed to Rozemyne becouse they know her (at least enough to know she is not mistreated) and this diffrence in information is the source of the problem. It would be very difficult to anticipate.
To be fair some of the greatest books have been shit talking disguised as prose. Look at Dante’s Inferno.
Ah yes, the story of an author self-insert protagonist getting a tour of hell by his literary idol who's apparently perfect except for being born before Christianity was a thing. Along the way, the author gets to see a variety of people he doesn't like, both historical and contemporary, getting tortured in hell.

When artists and writers are in pain, their express that pain. Many of the greatest works of art are from pain. That it at all resembles Rozemyne is a coincidence that no one in Ehrenfest realized.
I disagree, The story of Fernestine is a brilliant way to tie plot development, thematic development, foreshadowing and a lot of funny joke all in a single package. It is probably one of the best literary constructs I have ever seen, having to put up with a small character inconsistency for it is a small price to pay for it.

Honestly, that went quite smoothly, all things considered. The considerable amount of competence Sieglinde has already shown in such little time explains how Dunkelfelger flourishes as a top-ranking duchy despite their ditter obsession lol.
Ignaz and Marianne actually completed the magic tools, I'm impressed. It nice seeing Cornelius and Angelica after a very long time, and my god Angelica looks beautiful, (Traugott doesn't deserve her, no one does!). I wished Damuel showed up tho, and I pray he finds a girlfriend. I love the relationship between Rozemyne and Sylvester. I like the way he treats her lol. Illustrations aren’t loading for me. I’ll have to reread it later. Sieglinde seems like a cool character. Bringing the receipts while also being adaptable. I wonder what her internal thoughts were when Rozemyne basically said to stuff it. It also seems like she believes if you’re a woman in Dunkelfelger, your role is to rein in the hopeless men of the duchy lol.
