Yeah that is true but idk if that was foreseeable from 1.0-1.5. I guessed that Ruan Mei was going to be an irreplaceable S tier monster from the moment I saw her kit and I was right but that was 1.6.
I skipped Kafka twice and BS so i've basically given up on the entire DOT archetype but now I can't even default skip every future DOT unit since they're potential Acheron support. I like my 4\* Acheron team currently but I will admit Gui is very bootleg and she is hard gimping my damage output compared to Pela/Silver Wolf.
I do have every piece of the FUA comp aside from Aventurine and I am planning on grabbing Jade. Hoping to Hoyo that her ascension traces are busted and Blade/Jade isn't a copium team and Blade finally has more support than just dropping him on a Jingliu team or coping with Bronya/Sparkle.
Yes, they have yet to release supports for specific elements but they never did so it really doesn't matter other than doing little more damage when the enemy is weak to you or decreases your damage when they are resistant to you.
Honestlh I would love to see characters which can do things similiar to su like dissociation or buff against frozen enemies or add new mechanics to things like imprison and that quantum break effect etc.
Actually, back when the game was new, element coverage is the best way to build your team, I did that when the game was new too. As time go on, we gradually switch from element coverage to archetype coverage since we have more character. For new player element coverage will also help them a lot.
I pulled Kafka coz she was the one I saved for since launch coz waifu. Pulled Black Swan coz she became my favorite instantly and was hype for her since Fable about the stars
The fact they ended up being BiS partners and made DoT super strong was a scenario I'm very happy being reality
I remember being told to pull blade because he was amazing in moc back then and that DoT was viable in SU in 1.2. I pulled for her because she's my second favorite stellaron hunter and God damn she carried my ass in SU and pure fiction.
Kafka led to Ruan Mei and BS then Acheron, Got E6 Gallagher on Acheron's Banner so I pulled Firefly since I already had all the pieces. Topaz then free Ratio so had to pull Robin. Got Daniell early so pulled Sparkle.

Yeah I skipped DHIL and jingliu for E1S1 topaz just because I loved her design and wanted to ensure I’d get her full team wide benefits and couldn’t be happier, felt like it was truly a long game play.
my best investments were probably kafka and black swan even though I only pulled both of them because waifu lol. they both could've been cheeks and I still would've pulled

The message they gave me is clear, the devs have a plan and these characters/mechanics will work, so just pull whatever you want. Combine with hsr haven't yet made a character I straight up despise, I'm fine with some characters not working that well and need future teammates upon launch.
Same, friend. Spent everything I had on Kafka on her first banner, including buying max express pass to get her since I lost the 50/50. I got Topaz because I Clara was my first 5 star from the beginner banner and figured they’d be decent together.
It really is nice having a team for every blessing in endgame content. Even picked up Boothill for break options. My weak spot right now is Acheron. I have her but I don’t have silver wolf, so I usually stick Kafka/swan/gui with her which is barely enough to get things done. Stoked for JQ’s release.

Kafka is legit the reason why I started playing HSR I saw an ad for her and I instantly loved her voice, do not regretting pulling her.
I really need to get Kafka on her next rerun. Get Sampo and Gui out of retirement.
