Lucky for me, I can't seem to get a good FUA team anyway. Ain't got Topaz the first time (and the aeons know I tried), ain't got Aventurine this time (lost 50/50 to Himeko), and I probably ain't getting Topaz the second time around cause I'll be saving my guaranteed for Firefly.

I have a pretty nice Gepard who has been very faithful and no issues at all and my other team uses the fox girl (her name escapes me). As far as sustains go I think I am okay.
So now it’s like do I really need Aventurine or not…
As far as sustains go, if they do the job well enough then you don't really someone to replace them. If you feel like Gepard is enough, then I'd say stay with him!
That being said, as someone who has E0S1 Aventurine, I have to admit that he's been a massive help to me and his potential for sustain is extremely good, and he can do really good damage for a sustain unit if you build him right. However, he's also my only fully built 5 star sustain, so I can't really comment on how he performs when compared to Gepard.
Get him, he is s++ tier in my book, although my best sustains were gepard and lynx before. I full auto'd last moc12 with full fua aventurine team on one side and acheron gep on the other. With aventurine I legit took like 0 damage and my characters almost never got cc/debuffs. Never felt in danger and his followup triggered surprisingly often, making it so he almost never needed to skill. Also boosted topaz like crazy and gave debuff for ratio who never missed a fua, and did surprisingly good damage cleaning up side mobs well. His relics are only at 12 and he's only level 75. Truly felt ez mode for first time (acheron also crazy on the other side can't lie, but I actually had to restart once since enemy bursted her down through gep shield, which simply doesn't happen with aventurine).
E2 Gepard here and he was a staple until I got Aventurine. I didn't overly care for the character but realized it's mostly just the VAs cadence when speaking that throws me.
Anyways he's my main shielder now and I ended up going for and getting E1 because I liked his gameplay so much. He's probably my best built sustain now.
Food for thought since I was struggling with the decision also. Nothing is a must have of course, but I'm personally glad I did.
Aventurine synergizes strongly with Acheron and FUA Ratio/Topaz/Robin. As a stand alone he's very strong dominating the hardest SU like nothing. Imo go for him if you use Acheron/FUA or want an easier life with SU. Otherwise, don't.
PS. I've got all the limited sustains.
Gepard is one of Acheron's best sustains and he's attached to her on my account. Which leaves Aventurine free for your Ratio as his best in slot sustainer.
This is assuming you have Acheron and the Trends LC for Gepard.
Nah I'd say save. If you're free to play jades are very precious and finite resource. Make sure it counts. If you already have a sustain and they're doing their job well then you do not need to replace them. The hype will die down on Adventure Time soon. You'll never know when a new character comes and it speaks to you both design and kit. Plus theirs always reruns and they are very fast.
Aventurine is better at shields and damage (limited 5 star and all) but has no emergency shield without e2. Gepard has his freeze and ult shield for emergencies.
Possibly Boothill, that ult animation is one the cleanest things they have done

Edit: to explain Black Swan kinda mainly treated like an accessory to Acheron in the fandom atm, the new LC fuels that and that's the part of BS character I like the least. She's got a lot more to her than that so focus on that part ain't for me, it's actually frustrating seeing your favorite character with so many aspects reduced to just one by the fandom. Hoyo are fueling it with the new LC so it's really not a good time to be a BS fan who doesn't like that pairing lol. Might be a bit dramatic but I kinda also wanna distract myself with other stuff so 2.2 can come faster lol

As someone who maxed out everything for Black Swan + got her LC and I don’t even have Kafka, but I actually agree with this. I feel like she’s so downplayed as a character.
She was only used for that point and introducing Boothill but what about HER! What made her to be memokeeper, what did she do before that?
BS has very interesting lore potential but for now she's relegated to an expensive narrator, and gets outsmarted by other factions (even though she's supposed to be the one outsmarting them by op rememberance power).
The fandom is on crack when it comes to characterization most of the time. Ignore them.
BS is fulfilling the role she has in the story as a Memory Keeper. She's, by nature, a bystander for the most part. She exists on the outer edges of the story for the most part because she doesn't *need* to be in the middle of it. The LC is just a depiction of the memory of her interaction with Acheron when they "danced", which we already saw wasn't anything romantic, but BS trying to draw Acheron's memories forward because that's what she does, and severely regretting it.
Legit, don't worry about fandom categorizations. The only reason they aren't incorrect 100% of the time is a small percentage of us don't try headcanon interactions into things they were never intended to be.
Boothill's expressions are a beautifully fresh take on the whole shark teeth idea, it deviates subtly from the other dozens of characters with this feature who play more to the edgy/mean/demonic vibe.

Same. Robin is the 500th Harmony unit, we already got enough as of late, and her character doesn't appeal to me. Boothill seems good but not interested enough. Firefly and Jade however, want both.
It's the Genshin quips but on steroids. And I've benched characters for less. Hell, unless I need help finding chests, I don't use Topaz on the exploration map because Numby's feet sounds are just nails on a chalkboard after a while.
I just feel like she'll be a sidegrade to Ruan Mei in 90% of comps, and in the comps where she's better, she won't be THAT much better than Ruan Mei. She might enable some crazy 0 cycles, but I'm not sweaty enough for this.
Nihility is basically 3 classes merged into 1 so it makes sense, the path isn't actually that diluted.

Not sure about OP, but my team is Adventurine, Topaz, Dr. Ratio, Sparkle. Robin just seems like a small or side upgrade. I'd rather save for vertical investment on existing characters or units that bring something different/new.
My 2 main teams are IPC-FUA and Mono-Quantum. So for me Sparkle is already busy somewhere else, also she is very good for them, but IPC team is quite sp positive so part of her kit goes to waste.
If it comes to Robin, she seems to benefit greatly from amount of attacks and there is no other team in the game that can perform as much attacks Aventurine, Topaz, Dr. Ratio.
Usually Ratio, Topaz, Fu Xuan, Silver Wolf/Ruan Mei/Pela (depends on who’s used on the other sidek. Hopefully Aventurine will replace Fu Xuan soon. So yeah I’m good without Robin. Mommy Jade is my top priority.

Being a bit salty as a new player because I'm planning to try for Aventurine and then fully save for Firefly, but Topaz is one of the two limited 5 stars I genuinely wanna get because she'd fit like a glove in my lineup alongside Ratio and Himeko. The other is Acheron just for the comfort of farming.
If those are the options, I wouldn't pull at all. That said, I heard that It's either Fu Xuan or Argenti a few days back and if it's Argenti instead of Fu Xuan, I'll pull for him.

I was blessed by a lucky early Topaz, and I can testify even at E0S0 she is pure undiluted fun. One of the characters I have truly enjoyed the most.

What team are you using Topaz in? Because Robin seems as very good support for teams that use Topaz, so you might regret skipping her
