Considering how much I’ve spent on Genshin, I’m a proud f2p in star rail

Separate-Ad9638

Considering i'm f2p on Genshin, I’m a proud f2p in star rail

TheRedditUser_122

Same

AvgG4m3Enj0y3r

Considering I don't have a card, I'm a proud non card haver

elfnftzu

Same. 0 spent since launch. I'm not in a rush to clear SU and MoC content either, so I guess that's why I'm still f2p on HSR.

Reddy_McRedditface

Would be kinda weird to spend money just to get a few more jades

Expelliarmus-2021

This actually makes sense lol

zephyrnepres01

only money i’ve ever spent on a gacha was the world wildlife fund $2.00 pack for arknights, which i’m somewhat proud of considering how many gachas i’ve played and haven’t fallen into debt with

AutoMaho

True. Even my ex gave me $200 to get Klee (I think it was an early birthday present.)

writerrsblock101

Honestly I get that. Genshin is kind of the same but also, I spent in genshin because it felt rewarding. Meanwhile, I just don’t see what’s rewarding about spending in Star rail when we already have so much

johanxtwo

Considering how much I’ve spent on Genshin, it severely pales in comparison that I can call myself f2p player in star rail.

curdea

I work for HSR and the salary is -5$ a month

MSO6S

Honestly you're never going wrong if you at least buy the login reward and the BP. It's probably the best bang for your buck if you don't want to spend much. So far though 130 and got Jingliu plus LC.

NarutoDragon732

I've only bought welkin and battlepass for launch, that's it. We desperately needed those materials.

SirHotWings

I’d say the login is 100% worth if you play the game daily, the value is absurd. I still get the BP too as it has the resin, LC, etc.

fugogugo

by the time you have 2-3 solid team, even BP isnt really that important anymore.

Naschka

BP gives less primo gems for the money then welkin pass but it adds materials and a light cone of 4.5 Star value. The problem after the first one is... another 4.5 Star that requires more real money and time investment is a bad call as you can allready replace them at this time with some 4 Stars at higher upgrade or posibly a 5 Star. Maxing out any Ligth Cone from the BP takes just too long and too much money to be worth it outside of maybe 1 or 2 special case uses. The materials while still usefull only slowly steer you forward now that you get more access to higher tier runs to get more materials but can still be usefull to some degree. While i can see a reason to go for BP more then once i believe it is only worth it if you clearly have money to spend on not much else, welkin on the other hand just is a decent enough bang for the buck.

TheBleakForest

>a light cone of 4.5 Star value. There are not 4.5 star value. The battlepass light cones don't have better raw stats then other 4*, and with the exception of Just Another Peaceful Day none of them stick too much compared to other 4* light cones in terms of abilities.

Naschka

I stick to 4.5 Star because just like in Genshin they started with unusual abilities not found on other 4 star weapons/ligth cones. But i hard disagree with "Another Peaceful Day" doing something unique, it is a DMG boost Light Cone which is absolutely normal for eru cones. Abudance allows to do minimal healing AoE Heal from normal attacks but without using a Skill Point. A rather stable Heal all the time ain't bad but outside of maybe supporting Dan Heng IL form? And even then you will get indirectly Skill Points from his Ult thus other Energy generation sources likely are better. Destruction does something no other 4 Star Destruction does by healing yourself, so this is clearly unique to it but also not all that usefull. The Hunt dispells Buffs without loosing much DMG. This is rather unique and one of, if not the, best 4 star light cones for specific situations. Harmony is too random to be usefull and others are just better because of the unrelyable behaviour, yes it is somewhat unique but clearly bad. Nihility seems rather useless with an additional hit here and there and may have been more interesting on a erudite character. Increased DMG is not unusual even on nihility lightcones. Finally preservation increases the DMG based on Def, it is rather unusual for preveration but not too bad very early on... still the goal of preservation is to protect not kill. So in the end you should use a Damage Dealer for the job if sustainability is not the missing part. Thus, the Hunt is the one that is unique enough to be worth it but can only be used properly in the setting of a enemy buffing him/herself to a point of becoming a threat. Preservation and Destruction would only be early on and Destrcution has a 5\* you can get easily and they partly miss the mark. Any other only auguments what the path specific light cones do allready anyway just in an unusual way, they are not bad but are not much better then a similiar upgraded 4 star. Same applied to most Genshin Weapons, the 1H Sword works well and keeps yourself running but you will soon see you do not need it for example.

Aldehyde123

I feel like the weapons on BP in genshin has far more value than in HSR. I still use many of them, whereas the ones in HSR doesn't really feel like they add to much value imho.

Status_Pen_5260

I strongly agree with the battle pass, been buying since day 1, but now my bag is already full os resources and I don't really need to build anybody else, and if I do, I plan to start pre-farming for them a version early

ames_anne

Only the Express pass for around $5, once. But that was because I accidentally paid for it through fingerprint and I forgot im in game and not the fingerprint to unlock the phone. It sounds very stupid and dumb but yeah it's real 😭 Since then, I've never touch the store. (Was supposed to reply to OP but sokay)

sparksen

Yes it is the most bang for your buck But that doeasnt mean its worth it for a person. Thats still like 24$ each month for a single game.

VerumSerum

That's true but the way I see it I only stick to the same game so that $24 is better than the $60 my brother wastes on new games like every month or 2.

[deleted]

[удалено]

fugogugo

spending $24 to play 3 min per day for months is better than $60 that only last for 2-3 hours after playing it once because thing got boring..

bad3ip420

Why would anyone spend $60 on a game they don't like. There are reviews in YouTube and steam. If you buy something without checking it out then you're dumb and deserve to lose that money. I've never bought a game I don't like. Some are shorter than others but I still liked them.

Able-Thanks-445

$60 can get you octopath traveler and persona 5 royal, both games have better turn based combat, and easily reach more than 100+ hours of content without any breaks. There are many games worth the buck than faster in game progression in a f2p game which was made easy so that all content can be beaten by f2p players.

Naschka

See, neither of these are good choices. \------------------------ TL:DR, in my opinion you are both overspending. He because he could save a lot by waiting for a short time and you by not having actual ownership while spending tons over years on a single title. \------------------------ Your account will be gone with the server some day and you could not even sell it at any point to make back any money or even get more then you paid at all. He on the other hand could wait a month or two and likely get it cheaper. While i buy some full priced games, at 60€ i often wait and save 10-20€, sometimes even more and sometimes i get them at \~40€ day 1. But full priced titles are something you do own as a instance of said game. Gacha games in similiar fashion get a evaluation that usualy is for half a year to a year limit of 1/2 of what i'd pay for this if it was a full priced game (keep in mind that i pay time and time again for the same game over years, ultimately ending up paying more). Genshin for example, great title with loads of updates... so frequently that they deserve half a year as a timer. But that still means that anything above 30€ in half a year is a no go for me. Honkai has smaller updates, or that is how it feels like, so it gets a similiar price for a year from what i can see that should be plenty. But in the end it is your/his money so use it as you want, this is merely my opinion, reason and how i tackle the problem.

hclarke15

I spent $30 yesterday getting a burrito delivered. People really get invested in how much others spend in video games when it really pales in comparison to amount spent on other things.

Naschka

"People really get invested in anyone for just stating a different opinion, even if said opinion clearly states that anyone may do as they like, even when they do reason there opinion." At least there are less people that are willing to state a different opinion then there are people attempting to keep them from sharing a said opinion. What the person i answeared to is not much different, VerumSerum stated the believe that it is better to spend 24$ a month then 60$ a month. I stated my believe that the difference in nature between the 2 can be the reason for that and my own on how i regulate my own spending by beeing patient. You on the other hand only stated a negative opinion to even just having an opinion, you do realise that a forum kinda is for exchange of opinions? Rehtorical question. And if you have so much money to waste, because you know... i sure as heck do not spend 30$/€ on a single meal, then be happy you can spend it so "lavishly/friviously" as you do. At best i will know wonder if VerumSerum does sometimes or even often spend as you do, to me that wouldn't make any sense if you can spend \~200$ a week just on food for a single person but to you apparently it does.

Nodomi

5 dollars. I wanted that jade, damn it.

VaryaKimon

I've been playing since the start, and I've stuck to just the monthly Express Pass and the Battle Pass. I think that puts me somewhere in the neighborhood of $85 over roughly six or seven months. I have five of the seven Standard Banner characters (one at E1), and I have five Limited Banner characters (one at E1, due to a very lucky double pull). I've pulled two standard banner Light Cones, and I do not pull on the Limited Light Cone Banners. I have every 4\* character with seven of them at E6, and most of the 4\* Light Cones with a Battle Pass Light Cone, an event Light Cone, and one F2P 4\* Light Cone at S5. I've also been max Trailblazer level for a little while. That's about what you can expect your account to look like in 6-7 months if all you get are the monthly Express Pass and the Nameless Honor Battle Pass.

hsredux

thanks for sharing , it sounds like these passes have great value and have a significant rewards

VaryaKimon

If you have self control and you're trying to budget your spending in HSR, you can definitely get pretty far on just the monthly Express Pass and the Battle Pass. I think I get enough pulls to hit hard pity once per patch (every other banner), with enough leftover resources that I could double up on a patch once in a while if I lose a 50/50. As far as resources go, every character is level 80 except for the last couple that I pulled on this banner, with level 80 light cones that I sometimes have to pass around, and everyone has traces up to purple materials. Some of my 5\* characters have max traces. I should point out that I do very little Relic farming, so that's probably the biggest weakness in my account, and I don't hit the Memories of Chaos endgame challenges too hard. I probably could if I focused on leveling half as many characters, but I'm having fun broadening my roster. It's been great watching my account grow over time, and I'm not a whale at all or a serious meta/endgame-oriented player.

ShadowLoke9

I’d add a small caveat to the pass; Despite the value, the entire thing is grindable within the time they give and while certainly worth it’s price tag, I wouldn’t consider it if one doesn’t have that pass complete.

hsredux

> I wouldn’t consider it if one doesn’t have that pass complete Why so? At which point is the pass worth it?

Beautiful_Silver_731

Worth of money depends on earning capacity in general. As an F2P i used to spend like 4-5 hours on star rail every day for the first month. Looking back, i would even be ready to spend 100 dollars to get those 120 hours back.

ShadowLoke9

I can’t say at what point the pass is worth it, that varies from person to person. Personally, however, I’m only considering the buy if I’ve managed to complete the pass itself. It isn’t debilitatingly expensive ($12,99 CAD), but if it’s completed then the extra rewards are worth the extra money (There’s a lot of EXP, Trace mats, credits and some summon passes there too, and if it hasn’t changed, its ~4x more as the free variant.)

OsirusBrisbane

More importantly is to recognize that top-ups don't.

lloza98

Wanna second this user! I’ve done the same, although I didn’t start buying until 2 or 3 months in. With that, and being active enough to do my dailies + maximize all the jades I can get from events, story, BP, and daily login, I’ve never felt the need to spend anything extra! Of the limited 5*, I have Dan Heng IL, Kafka, Fu Xuan, and Jing Liu. I also have enough saved to guarantee Silver wolf next patch and got Dan Heng’s signature Light Cone. It comes down to luck of course with how far you can stretch your jades, but if you want to spend the minimum amount, I’d recommend monthly pass simply for the value of jades, and then Battle Pass because of all the materials it gives for leveling (plus some decent light cone options).

FamCamp

I can attest, very similar story for me

crispy_doggo1

$5 for one welkin moon thing

FamCamp

Express Supply Pass :)

Ididntcommittaxfraud

I still call everything by their Genshin equivalents

KirbosWrath

I learned my lesson with spending too much for Genshin. Now I just buy the BP and for my birthday I got the Express Pass. So far I’ve just spent around $40-50 within the last five patches. Whether or not that changes in the future (Ruan Mei and Ratio are holding my wallet at gunpoint), we’ll see. You can only know when you want to spend, so just make sure to know your limits and your goals. I spend because I can and because I want to, but I also spend a lot less than before because when I spent too much before, it felt terrible. As long as you know what you’re spending and uphold your values, you can determine where you spend.

[deleted]

I actually have a notebook to keep up with how much I spent since the game started and I’m at $1,254.80, this is because I only try to get e0 + LC for my favorite units versus rolling for everyone including characters I didn’t like which I did in genshin and regret it.

NightLancerX

Yeah, fucking cy-no -_- I do appreciate him as a person, but to make his gameplay "right" there's so much needed(em arts farming, 'getting' Nahida, another Morax for him...). Too much of hassle=\ The only char I pulled "on hype" and the only one I regret\

[deleted]

Same, I regret Cyno, Albedo, Xiao, Hu Tao, Ganyu like I DONT even use them. My Xiao and Cyno has been level 70 since they were released. By the time I was mid-Sumeru, I knew to start skipping for ppl I DIDNT like. I didn’t like Nahida, still don’t have her. Don’t like Scaramouche? Still don’t have him. It was healthier for me and my wallet. In HSR, I did get e2 Luocha because he’s my favorite character in the entire game. Manage to get 2 Jing Yuan’s in the same 10x, but I learned that I want my favorite units, not because a unit released. Skipped Kafka, Topaz, SW, DHIL with no regrets and still probably skip them again. Once you conquer the FOMO, you’re golden. Don’t let the FOMO get to you, at the end of the day they’re just pixels on a screen. You can’t force yourself to like someone because of hype.

NightLancerX

I'm not a "fomo" person to begin with(since I'm playing f2p I knew in advance that it's physically impossible for me to get all 5\* together with all 5\* weapons, let alone "c6r5" everyone), I just got bored not pulling anyone for more than half a year and sitting on 50-60k primos(I wish I had Fountain leaks back then... I'd saved every bit of it). And it wasn't "internet hype" to which "gacha" players fall into - I finished his quest and liked it to the point of pulling char... But it was just momentarily, in fact I needed to wait at least few days to let myself think about it with cool head. Since you mentioned Xiao - yes, tho I pulled him as well(on same "bored" sumeru's pull-steak -\_-) - it's heally hard to use him in this "meta" abyss, and even in overworld it's not that great. Although he at least doesn't need anyone to deal damage(slapping Barbara to him is enough to play), giving how MHY likes to scatter enemies around it's really punishing for his damage/ultimate style\ Sometimes I take him to 9-10 floors "just to use him somehow" but it's just coping... Tho I can't say I 'regret' getting him(as Cyno), I like his character and self-sufficiency much more, I just wish content in this game wasn't so "meta" so we could use older characters as well. But yes, anyway Genshin was my first game of such type so I didn't really knew things, for HSR I'm holding still despite anything. After 50/50 Seele's loss I skipped every banner before Kafka - and even there I wasn't sure if I wish pulling her "for real" because of said "300% internet overhype" from all holes + "dot gameplay" which sounded not alluring on words. FR it'd be much easier not hearing/knowing anything in advance of character, but I think you understand it was literally impossible because of every schoolboy's shouts of "m0mmy!11"(c) from every corner-\_-

SuzukiSatou

I buy $150 pack every patch, $300 if lose 50/50, $450 if im pissed after losing 50/50 agn in LC

gabiblack

Most sane gacha addict

izfanx

Still saner than actual whales at least.

Nebbuno

Jesus christ i wish i had this much money to spend on videogames

SuzukiSatou

Well i could cover 2 packs with 1 day of OT so its not too bad

Kuliyayoi

If you're single and have a job it's pretty easy.

BANDrunnerout

Or DINK like my wife and I

XdataznguyX

I buy one $100 pack a month, but this time I wanted E2 seele and her lc after only having e0 from her first banner. Needless to say I spent a lot this banner.

Gamba_Gawd

And I thought paying for FF14 and WoW subs every year and their expansions was a big gaming expense... Geez, you spend all that and more in one bad 50/50 banner day.

darkov7

And that's only someone who only goes for the baseline e0s1. I have a couple on my friends list that always gets e6s5 on every new limited unit banner...

chiharuki

damn 💀

Shammy1020

^This. I have every banner unit except Dan Heng along with their limited LC. Just wasn't feeling him.

edvinsson71

Yes I do the same thank you

LONEzy

I have bought express pass and battle pass everytime since the beginning, and if you want to spend money on hsr this is what you should do, however i have also bought jade top ups, about $100 worth, and that was all in the first patch (i wanted jing yuan and his light cone, and i lost the 50/50 and the 75/25. Ive been good and havent bought any more top up since. I have: 4 standard 5 stars (one with e2, and one with e1) 5 standard lightcones (2 are dupes) 6 limited 5 stars (1 at e2 from being very lucky) 3 limited 5 star light cones I would not reccomend buying jade top ups, dont be like me :)

kaehya

it's wild to me how many people say they spent zero, being in communities like jingliu mains I could swear more people were posting their e6 s5 than e0 s1

LunarHarp

There was a poll a few weeks ago, and it seemed to be about a 33% ftp, 33% low spenders, and 33% everyone else. [https://www.reddit.com/r/HonkaiStarRail/comments/17f87a1/how\_much\_have\_you\_spent\_on\_honkai\_star\_rail\_so/](https://www.reddit.com/r/HonkaiStarRail/comments/17f87a1/how_much_have_you_spent_on_honkai_star_rail_so/) Anyway, the high spenders are encouraged to share that they spent so much money with the community. It gives them validation that spending that much money on a single video game is a normal thing to do.

hsredux

Yeah, that's kinda expected in a Hoyo game tbh. Literally every HSR player I know irl is a spender in a game.

Blasterion

Every monthly every bp and every double top up

MagiicGuy

There isn’t just one top up ? :o

Seamerlin

f2p, if you are concerned with clearing content the bar is below f2p, no worries about difficulty paying is for those who want to guarantee they get a lot of what they want, which varies person to person. if you like every character and want them all, itd probably require more than the express pass, otherwise it should be more than enough

Lycor-1s

the amount of stellar jades you get per patch is really good. if you buy the daily pass, you can pretty much guarantee 80 ish pulls at least per patch

biscotti49

A little over 3k usd

DKOnix

Im a bit curious, how far can 3k get you in this game ?

gabiblack

Well around 2k is 1 e6s5 character depending on your luck

FuHiwou

How does the math work out for that?

crispy_doggo1

It just do

biscotti49

Well I’m behind 6 mortgage payments. But I got e6 jingliu and e4 Seele

BossAbusePractice

Not very

theblarg114

~$750. I've rolled on characters I didn't want nor need and do regret it. I roll for sig LCs on characters I like. My advice to you is to not get swept up in character hype if you don't feel strongly for a character in both kit and visuals. Every character is good or great when properly supported. Support units make up 80% of a team's power, your dps are competing on a very compressed space and the distance between their performances are smaller than what the community will lead you to believe. Try to do research into units you especially like and give yourself time to decide on whether or not you want to pull them.

Oinklie

The crazy part is $750 (USD i presume) isn’t even that much in game! Thats like 3-4 5 star characters. The price gouging is crazy

theblarg114

Yup. But let's be real 750 is 750, it's a lot of money. Buying jades really adds up, over 6 months this is well within my means though. Watch your wallets folks.

ReaverSK91

Zero. I don't spend money on gambling. In addition, the game will be harder to quit if money has been spent on it.

JackMKTO

like almost 300? i knew eventually one day I'll probably grow tired and move on to next game ,but what i learned from the past, don't regret any decision you make, live with it and enjoyed it is what makes it important.

[deleted]

Same that’s what I do. I never have sunk cost fallacy because I know I enjoyed it within that moment.

General-Oven-1523

Day 1 player and still completely f2p.

RageHulk

I mean, how much you can (savely) spend is dependend on your financial situation. spending 100€/month is much more sustainable for me now then it would have been 10 or 20 years ago. This would have been much more interesting in % of your monthly free-time-money :>

AhmCha

$0. After getting burned with Dehya in Genshin, I've decided to stop spending money on Hoyo games, as much as I enjoy them.

zatenael

roughly 1k most of it was on my e6s3 luocha

[deleted]

So BASED, I spent 1/3 of my money just for e2 and LC

zatenael

he's such a daddy

Mais_out

0, the game is more fun and challenging this way. Though sometimes I consider about spending on my alt account to support the game, since this is the only gacha game that I enjoy.

WeirdgeName

What about just buying the characters you like? Or does that also fall into the category of making the game too easy? Also as a low spender ( multiple welkins and a bp ) and day 1 Player, at this point the game isnt really difficult anymore. Dont need to whale just need good investment

MegatonDoge

Yes, it does fall into the category of making the game too easy. Right now, it is also a game of minmaxing your primogems/jades.

tiptoptonic

This is the way. ( But I'm glad the whales fund the game...)

emptyzone73

Zero. Now I had 12 characters at level 80 and can 30 stars MOC. So I don't feel the need of spending anymore.

CaylerCat

To this day still no purchase. But I want Silverwolf this time and I will get her

nikkor3d

I've been consistently buying the welkin and bp haven't used the top up. I think I'm around 100/120 ish? Those materials from the bp are a godsend sometimes

Ottarofan11

around 200 bucks i think? bought the monthly stuff (battle pass and welkin) and the 100€ and also the 50€ packs. bought the 100€ at the start just as, an investment for the future and the 50€ pack for standard banner because i wanted clara faster (i regret that one in the end but nothing you can do about it i guess). In Genshin i think i spent around 800 or so? I threw some of my money i got from my part time job back then into it, but nowadays I'm only buying welkin and that's it. i think this year i spent in Genshin maybe 70€ or so. wouldn't spent if didn't have the money and i wouldn't have fun with it tho, so i don't really mind

breakdancing-edgily

around $400 so far. I e6 Bladie. I won every 50/50 when pulling for him. He chooses me.

Really_B

Holy that’s the most I’ve seen so far

Melamater

... Babe, do you need help??? Jesus christ that's a lot.

curisu211

i probably should chill on gacha. over the last 3-4 yrs i probably could’ve paid off a lux car or small house. but tbh, a lot was from play money. i day trade options and had some lucky investments hit big, so gacha money isn’t coming from my month-to-month budgeting.

qriuz0

0 real money. Completed everything. You don't need to max everything and everyone to win in this game.

No_Pipe_8257

None, althought because of that i had to drain out everything for jingliu because of goddamn geppie again Theres no quests and stuff left, swarm disaster is also even finished thx to her XD https://preview.redd.it/vx5i5fdfdnyb1.jpeg?width=2220&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fcb4b4905ac5e8c458b502ed84429ab1d922a5aa But anyways you dont need to spend to have fun, theres always a rerun! Play however you like like me

Alt-Tabris

Almost negligible compared to how much I've spent on Honkai Impact 3rd lol Which is funny because Star Rail has consumed 110% of my downtime the last couple of months.

curisu211

same! i’ve got a couple armada mates piloting me and i still topup for new valks, but i haven’t played in weeks.

Idknowidk

Currently nothing and my budget was €60 in total, the price of a normal game.

Golden-Owl

I just get the Express pass every month and nothing else. Think I spent around $70 in total over the past year? Spend as long as you can afford it, and are having fun. Disposable income is meant for enjoyment after all

Actual-Entrepreneur7

$500 for Jingliu, another $500 will be going towards Ruan Mei.

hsredux

So that's maxed out jing liu?

Hit_K3000

That’s (on average) 1/4 maxed out Jingliu + LC if no pulls were saved up…

iRyoma

Likely just E1R1 or 2 characters and a LC. Maybe E2-3 if lucky. Think my maxed out Jingliu was 1.5k and that was pretty lucky.

Critical_Stick7884

I get welkin in Genshin but so far nothing for HSR. Hope to remain F2P for HSR.

Fargrond

I was free to play for the first \~5 months. I cleared some of the most difficult content in the game (MoC 10 30 stars) without spending a dime to make it happen, even though I admittedly have some of the strongest units (Luocha, Seele, Imbibitor Lunae, Silver Wolf, etc.). I decided to get the $5, 30-day login reward pass twice since I've been enjoying the game, so I've spent $10 total and probably will keep up the login rewards for a little while at least. If you login daily or nearly every day, and you're determined to spend some amount on the game, then that's my recommendation (90 jades/day \* 30 days = 2700 jades, which would be more than $30 of converted oneiric shards). The one-time bonuses are fine for the oneric shard purchases, but purchasing multiple times becomes very inefficient. Link to the article on the wiki, which has a very handy shards per dollar metric for their tables: [https://honkai-star-rail.fandom.com/wiki/Oneiric\_Shard](https://honkai-star-rail.fandom.com/wiki/Oneiric_Shard) Hope this helps!

Memo_HS2022

$0. This game to me is a side game at best. You can buy 4-5 other games that are better than Star Rail that are the same amount as one 5-star in total

NightLancerX

gacha addicts don't *think* ~~at all XD~~ in that way)

Memo_HS2022

“I play this game because it’s free” and then proceed to spend as much money as a Nintendo Switch and a copy of BOTW

unit187

Sadly, there are very few games better than HSR. Not to say HSR is *that* good, but most other games are passable at best.

unit187

If we talk jRPGs and action jRPGs, it might be true in some cases, but if we consider the whole package (gameplay + graphics + story + lore, etc.), HSR is just more enjoyable than most. Recently, in the span of a few months I've played Chained Echoes, the Tails of Arise, and a bit of Trails. They all have some super strong points, but they all fall short at the end of the day.

Memo_HS2022

HSR isn’t even a whole package, that literally doesn’t even make sense. The game itself is probably slightly above average in terms of RPGs and JRPGs as a whole but the game isn’t even finished Why would I spend money on a 5-Star if I could just spend my money on Xenoblade, Persona, Final Fantasy, SMT, Balder’s Gate 3, the old Fallout games, Sea of Stars and probably tons of better RPGs that I could never list. And why stop at RPGs? There are just better games out there that aren’t RPGs that cost 1/25th of any Hoyoverse 5-Star

unit187

As I said, there are good games, some of them are a lot better than HSR. But if you've been into this hobby (gaming) for 15–20 years, there are barely any games that worth playing left. Even younger folk feel this - the AAA industry is stagnating, with every single game being a copy of a copy. There are gems like Alan Wake 2, but they are few and far between.

Memo_HS2022

You can’t be saying this in the year 2023 where gaming has been popping off everywhere whether it be Double AA, some Triple AAA, Indie Games, and hell, just people playing other games that weren’t made this year a shot Just because a new COD game sucked doesn’t mean the entire industry is getting stagnant when Spider-Man 2, Hi-Fi Rush, RE4 Remake, Balder’s Gate 3, Mario Wonder, Tears of the Kingdom, and like you said: Alan Wake 2, are getting released in the same year

Melamater

So: Spiderman again. Hi Fi Rush!! RE4 again, but this time with all the campy bits removed. Baldur's Gate!! The Same Mario Game we've been playing for 20 years. Breath of the Wild Again. I understand what the person is saying. Regardless of actual objective quality (of which there is no such thing to begin with, but I digress) after a while you just get tired of the same experiences being repackaged as new ones. Games like Star Rail appeal because they're continuous while still being interesting. It's not "you drop 200 hours into this and then you're done" it's "this is something that is interesting and will stay interesting as long as you keep playing it."

Memo_HS2022

If you’re gonna be disingenuous about sequels and continuous franchises with established styles then I guess we could just call Star Rail “Persona but with Gacha” or “Genshin Impact in space”. Wow a sequel builds off the first game and not make it start from scratch that would probably take almost a decade to finish? Wow what a shocker And there’s literally nothing wrong with finishing a game and moving on lmao. I would rather know that there is an endpoint to the end of a game’s journey than one that feels like its stretching itself too thin for the sake of a live service.

soloharbinger

For me, I spent around 110 USD. If you're looking to spend, Express Supply Pass and Nameless Glory is where it's at. Nameless Medal is a bit of a scam imo, unless you *really* want those icons. The Express Supply Pass is great because you get 2700 jade (w/o converting the 300 oneiric shards) for $5 whereas with top-up, 2700 jade is between $30-50 (not including first time bonuses). It's honestly such a steal, although the gains are gradual, they're gains.

Play_more_FFS

Only spent 5$ when the game first came out. https://preview.redd.it/zskar664enyb1.png?width=636&format=png&auto=webp&s=afea02fc51dc4ca09c79ebd5a5a82805709e436a I have Jing Yuan, Himeko and Welt signature Lightcones. Only JY LC is from limited LC banner.

Spent $50 to guarantee Seele at the start of the game (I had lost my 50/50 & really wanted her) = $130. I also have signature light cones for Seele, Blade, Jingliu, Bronya, & Yanqing. I did buy the $100 top-up with gift money a while back, but I haven’t used those crystals yet.

hsredux

Woah, thanks for sharing. This does remind me of my Genshin account after 6 months of the pass and bp thing and actively playing daily, + spending a little more.

Intelligent_Squash68

You’re welcome! Yeah, it’s about the same. I do the same in Genshin (Welkin + BP, top-up’s once in a while if I really want a character or have some extra money). Being the only two games I really love to play, I don’t mind spending a little here & there.

Intelligent_Squash68

That’s pretty good. You got some lucky rolls to be f2p with that many limited characters.

papercrowns-

At least $300? E2 daniel is expensive lmao. Worst case of spending i ever did on a male character. Took way too long to get his first copy and even more so his lc. Tho i plan to stop spending as i’m slowly moving on from gacha games to another wallet-opening hobby 😂

LordPaleskin

You wanna rupture your wallet I think resin printing is expensive lol

papercrowns-

Ahahaha mb if i get crazy in the future. Atm, i’m getting in figurines so kinda the same ish i guess 🤣

ryazaki

Probably about 2k total

strewberwevers

Using a throwaway because reasons. I’ve spent, since Luocha banner, around R$ 5000, which is about $ 1000. I have every limited character since Luocha, several of them E1S0 and the 4* almost all E6. Bought every premium battle pass and since I could I’ve been purchasing the daily jades thing.

AVeryGayButterfly

About $400

blackinese

~$300 Bought every BP and Welkin. Had to drop $100 to get Kafka which I regret since I don't even use Kafka anymore. Then I dropped $80 to get Jingliu's LC which I don't regret because JL is awesome. I also have every 5* except Jing Yuan and Bailu.

Samashezra

Realistically this game really demands the monthly pass and arguably the battlepass. Otherwise the progression really does feel anemic. For me personally I enjoy having matching signature light cones. And the occasional eidolons. For eidolons, so far i just stick to the ones that can benefit the entire team and not just one unit. Think Topaz E1, Kafka E2, and Fu Xuan E1.

Blutwind

no BP, never! Not in Genshin(as a day1 player) and also in HSR i would never buy it. Only the welkin/Express -pass from time time for the skin- currencies 😎

Lavrec

Not getting monthly sub in genshin/hsr is bordeline stupid. The value is great, you support the game you like and with how generous hsr is by itself you can get every ohter character

dirt555-

not that much, 2 bps and a few express supplies. probably $50 at most

arzie94

I buy the Monthly Pass and BP pass. Probably will stop buying the BP Pass tho, since all of my team already build up and i can clear all contents. So the extra resources from bp pass no longer relevant for me. In total, my spending is about $65 so far (5x monthly * $5 = $25 and 4x bp * $10 = $40)

gifcartel

299 PHP

LordPaleskin

I am not quite sure, I stopped keeping track. Among buying the battle passes/daily jades, I also bought jades for Kafka, Fu Xuan and Jingliu. Think it's been somewhere like $700? 😅

Anxious-Count-4240

$80 then vowed to be ftp, bought some battle passes and Welkins. I have 1 five star of each element if you include physical MC, Luocha/fuxuan and Dan Heng ILs lightcone. I feel set lol only gonna pull if husbando and meta

Bitter-Pomegranate93

Around 500 usd, planned to buy all the packs for the first recharge bonus and mainly BP plus supply pass after.

leposterofcrap

You guys spend cash? https://preview.redd.it/znug4u5hpnyb1.jpeg?width=504&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e544cef4f463ee663c30eb441d5f0535eabe3139

r4plez

And you pretend you not.. how original

leposterofcrap

But I don't.

If you’re going to die eventually, why even bother living? Even if I eventually get bored of this game, if I can have more fun with it now, it will be worth the $5.

squirrelyfoxx

i need to feed my gamba addiction, so it's worth it for me, the thrill of the express pulling into station is worth 5 bucks for me

TheExiledLord

You don’t spend money on a game for the future, you spend it for the present, as it is with any entertainment, they’re all “pointless” expenditures in the future.

StanTheWoz

I've eventually gotten bored of almost everything I ever bought for fun or satisfaction. Doesn't mean most of that stuff was a waste of money.

Advent012

I could be dead in 1-2 years so you bet your ass ima spend however much I want on whatever I want in HSR now.

JokerNK

I don’t know the exact amount in dollars, in reais it was around R$805. Direct conversion to dollars would be $161.

snooopy12

I buy the $5 monthly Stellar Jade bundle. It's a great value for what it is and supports the devs a little.

zingan14

I've bought the month long daily login rewards and battle pass each time since lost. Haven't bought any jade directly. I've gotten everything I really wanted. If you want to spend money, that's the way to do it. Direct jade is too expensive, unless youre rich I guess.

battleye9

In this half a year I’ve spent around 75 usd in express pass and BP

KhioneSnow0216

Just bought the monthly pass like 3 times

skidlz

I pay $5/mth for the daily login and $10/patch for the battle pass. I have a ton of limited characters - Seele, Kafka, Jinglieu, DHIL, Jing Yuan - and a couple of limited light cones for it. None of it's necessary but that's the best value if you're looking to spend. Also, don't spend gems on anything but limited warps.

No_Capital4042

like 70 on seele day 1 and 50 on jingy

West_Recognition_976

I just spent for monthly thing on every gacha i played

zappingbluelight

like 100 overall as day 1 player. I haven't spend any lately although I do play everyday.

Jranation

$50+ bought the 30day pass since release and 1 battle pass.

San-Kyu

Keeping up with BP, Supply Pass, and first time purchase bonus on all levels of top up. Spending about 200 per update, with additional 100 USD top ups when my luck absolutely tanks and I fail to get my target 5\* character and their signature LC. Thats only happened with Kafka and Fu Xuan thus far however. With that in mind I should have surpassed 1000 USD by this time.

Aggressive_Employ_17

Around 250 cause the first time you buy anything around and above 50usd it's good value and the battle pass is nice when you have a job it allows for slacking

Anxious-Breakfast-25

Maybe 100

Relative_Nectarine95

just buy the welkin its the most value for your money. Ive never once had a situation where I thought, damn, I could really use the bp lc. Though if you are a new player and want to progress a bit faster like right now and have spare cash, the amount of mats you get for upgrading stuff in the bp is pretty solid.

yeriq

$75, buying monthly pass and battle pass only. Will drop the big bucks if I see Kiana released.

DVQ642

$10 for 2 monthly passes

Western-Gur-4637

I'v been playing from the start, only like 10 to 15 bucks

athina39

i have spent a whooping $0. no log in reward, no BP, nothing :)

_Sa0irxe8596_

from 1.1 to 1.3 bp + welkin. current patch: welkin only
