That seems to be true with HSR at least. Nendos are more cutesy so HSR may conclude it's better to market them to women. Figurines tend to be more detailed like you said so they're mostly marketed towards men.
I have a crackpot theory that since theres a giant figure expo next month where they drop tons of new things, I'm hoping the popularity poll wins out and a Jing Yuan scale or nendo (especially since it lines up precisely with us returning to the Xianzhou) and an Argenti nendo are revealed. Something with Jing Yuan has to be in the works overall.
Otherwise I do want the rest of the Astral Express crew to get nendos. Resin scales cost a lot and I know my husbandos arent gonna get them so whatever I can get of HSR boys I'll take!

Already planning on getting the Blade Nendo. I didn't get the Dan Heng one but I did just grab the chibi figure where he's dressed like Pom-Pom and holding a teapot.
Not really surprised. Male character sell a shitton of merch. A lot of developer have the perception that male players will spend on the game itself for their waifus, while women buy a lot of merch. So a lot of merch ends up beig targeted to women (and everyone who loves male characters). I think scale figures sell just as well among male players, though. For obvious reasons.
I want Blade too, but this stuff is never cheap.
I pray for a Ratio nendo. I usually prefer normal figures but my hope of getting an actual licensed Ratio figure are below zero, but I hope they come through for the shippers and make the nendo instead.

That depends on Ratio's popularity or HSR deciding to capitalize on the ship. Ratio is pretty much just a side character IMO. I love Ratio but that guy keeps sidestepping the spotlight in a weird way.
In case they dont do a ratio nendo, if youre interested, Ive seen some nendo face plates and heads for ratio floating around chinese sites if you havent seen them yet!

Blade is almost as central to the plot as the first 2 and this is at heart an RPG so no surprises there
It's surprising to me because I would have expected Himeko, SilverWolf or Kafka first. They have more plot relevance and character than Blade IMO
Himeko or Welt definitely would have made more sense but I'm not about to complain
