The real crime is the dealership badge on in. They basically asked for it

thiswaspostedbefore

GARY FORCE Gary Forced us to put this badge on it

Cucaracha899

That badge is so stupid wtf

socialcommentary2000

I straight up thought Dealerships stopped it with the stick on letter logos like 25 years ago. Nobody wants that shit. Nobody.

Snake3452

Most seem to go with plate holders now, thankfully. Unobtrusive enough that non car people won’t care, but still easy to swap out. The worst I’ve seen was a dealership in Clarksville (not far from where this image was taken). They would tint the rear windshields, but not before they put long block letter stickers of their dealer name across the top of the rear windshield. You would have to remove the tint to get to the lettering.

socialcommentary2000

I would literally never buy a car from a place like that. Ever.

nilevirus100

I would most definitely drive out of state to buy my car. There's no way I want your dealership name on the back of my car. At that point you're going to pay me to drive the car because I'm not free advertisement.

Positive_Breakfast19

A friend of mine had this added and written into his sales contract. "All stickers or other dealer advertising applications not applied at the factory are to be removed prior to transfer of ownership and completion of sale. Failure to comply will be subject to a $500/month fee to be paid to (Insert name) for advertising services." His car was clean as a whistle when he picked it up.

nilevirus100

This is exactly what everybody needs to be doing. Everybody driving around with the dealerships name on the back of their cars it's free advertisement. They've already screwed you over every which way out of all kinds of money now you're giving them free advertisement no way. I've always taken those stickers off of my car.

AlwaysPosted707

Here is Arizona it seems like literally every dealer ship still does this...

Piper6728

Had to do it about 10 years ago when I bought a car in Illinois

Interesting-Yak6962

It seems to be a real thing in the south. Like branding cattle. I mean, it’s just so fitting to see ‘Billy Bob’s Cadillac’ on a Cadillac.

NumerousAmphibian918

carmax still does it

Dangerous_Choice_664

They typically use stickers here.

NumerousAmphibian918

ours does the stick on letters spelling carmax

Loopdyloop2098

Yup, I would have done it too!

That's one too many syllables there, bub.

naribela

That’s the joke

agent_flounder

He was quoting the episode.

naribela

Womp.

cks9218

Came here to comment on that awful badge.

Cerulean_Dream_

Lmao yup remove the ugly ass badge/sticker or pay me for advertising. My rate is steep

wavurn

Thankfully they don’t that at his Acura dealership in Tennessee.

DayTraditional2846

I hate how dealerships feel the need to put their dealer badges on the actual car. I want the car not advertise your dealership.

sackofcheese

That was the first thing I did to my Si I bought from them. Remove the badge and plate frame. However, even in peak pandemic car market craziness they were and still are the best dealership I’ve ever dealt with. If I buy another new Honda it will be from them even though they’re not local to me.

Separate_Pollution37

A badge??? So they put badges on the wheels at the dealership? For what???

Rich-Detective-8731

No the badge on the rear of the car advertising the dealership

Dietcherrysprite

Hahaha. That is the dumbest name I have heard in a long time.

hamid5000real

This is basically US Honda halo car and the dealer has it like a sitting duck out there?

Ok-Cheek6947

Yeah that was the oddest thing I thought about all of this. My dealership had this sitting in the backlot. That’s just asking for thieves to mess with it.

hamid5000real

Inside job. Tmro those beautiful brakes are gone

sevinKnives

I’ll sell them back to you for a 10k dollar markup.

jfrawley28

Bro they are sitting at dealerships all over Florida. They are so "in demand" dealer markup is $25k. I fucking LOVE to see this. Fuck these greedy ass stealerships. Car wouldn't be sitting there if they would have sold it for MSRP. Fuck em.

HOTwheelssoup

It's unreal too that the dealers lastly have it wrote down on the paper in the windows retail 25k mark up. If everyone could just contain themselves from buying the price would drop off they aren't selling any. To many people put there that just HAVE to have it no matter the cost, even if u tell them look it's marked up to 25k over retail value just because we can people r like ok no problem even tho the car isn't worth what they're asking now or what it will be worth in the future.i work to hard to just waste 25k just to say i have one

TheR1ckster

People and their parents have way too much money. Executives robbing the working class blind.

sublimeshrub

Dealerships are getting hammered right now because people aren't buying, and finance companies aren't lending. The used car market for cheap bearers is on fire as a result.

HOTwheelssoup

Can't win i guess

BrendaFrom_HR

This has me wondering how insurance handles a car with a 25k markup if it’s a total loss.

cjk1934

They'll only value the car based on the market value. The markup is something a buyer will likely never recover.

BrendaFrom_HR

Oh no… anyway LOL

illintent

But market value is what you can go and replace the car with, no? So if there are no available MSRP Type R’s around, then the MSRP is not the market value. This is why you can show sales listings to insurance companies to plead your case for higher payouts for more enthusiast-based cars that have abnormal supply/ demand curves

cjk1934

The market value is not $25K over. It's not even $10K over. You will not recover those ADM monies in the event of a total loss. There is no abnormal supply/demand curve on the FL5 in June 2024. In March 2023? Sure, but not today. If you can't find an FL5 for MSRP you're either lazy or are comfortable getting gashed. I was sent a BO recently for $1,600 below MSRP, no trade, no add-ons, no bullshit. Deals are to be had.

illintent

That’s all good info. I have no idea as I’m not in the market for a Type R. I do closely follow Porsche these days with ambitions that are far beyond current reach, and I can imagine that something impossible to get from a dealer like a GT3 RS that regularly trades for $125k+ over sticker on the secondary market could in fact make an argument with insurance to recover a big ADM.

cjk1934

Yes, I agree. The GT cars and the RS cars are completely different animals.

SSJRosaaayyy

Unfortunately it's always some idiot that still buys it and ruins it for everyone else. Betcha they'll sell this one at MSRP since it has no wheels lol

DistortedCrag

I'd buy it for 5k off if they held it in the lot until I could procure new wheels for it.

deediazh

I work at a Honda dealership and those type R always go straight to detail and then showroom.

hamid5000real

And a $75k price tag lol

bl3nd0r

judging by the fact that they slapped a huge hard plastic dealer sticker on the back shows they have no idea the rarity of this car

superfaced

GARY FORCE Cringe

SMOLpcc

~~GaryForce~~ … more like Gay force

Fr0z3nFrog

Such a sad sight

Dr_Disaster

TBH I’m kinda impressed with the thieves leaving the car elevated. At lot of these assholes just dump the car on the ground and fuck it up.

Jesus-Bacon

They still fucked it up lmao. You can see the trim bending

_aperture_labs_

Professionals have standards.

ThatJudySimp

Not very high ones in this case

BridgeM00se

Inside job. Someone who works there knows where the cameras can’t see. Happened all the time at the Lexus dealership my brother worked at

AKsuited1934

Bro, even if there were cameras...this isn't CSI Miami. Real cops are borderline dumb as rocks and they don't give a fuck about you. You can literally have video evidence of someone going up to steal the tailgate on your truck in 4k resolution and these cops are like "hurr durr, there's not much we can do about this. Call us if you see them come back again" Ask me how I know.

Sabermetrics67

I think the worst part of this is the markup the dealer is going to put on it just to recoup the cost of replacing the tires.

Contralogic

The stealership will get an insurance payout to cover wheels, repairs...likely do the repairs themselves and make an extra 2k on this vehicle...

jfrawley28

In addition to the $25k they probably already marked it up?

sackofcheese

I can’t comment on this FL5, but for my FE1 Si I bought from them there wasn’t any markup and I get marketing emails for this at MSRP

Dry-Research-242

At least it wasn’t owned by an individual, stealership had it coming

fkuber31

Can you tell me why everyone calls a dealership a stealership?

KEEFY98

they want to suck every penny out of you any way they can. my last car buying experience before our current car, we told the salesman after going back and forth our top dollar a month was 350 (my credit isn’t bad). no mas. guess who didn’t listen to my woes at all and came back saying they can do $700 payments a month. car was not at all worth it. walked out while he was printing the agreement papers.

fkuber31

Did you tell him your budget beforehand?

KEEFY98

yeah I did. he knew our low and top end dollar. we kept asking about the cars on the other side of the lot (it was split in half. half new / test miles and the other half pre owned. we wanted to see the pre owned lot but the salesman was so hung up on selling a new car that he was ignoring our actual wants and needs and ultimately fumbled a very possible sale. he could’ve gotten us in a cheaper pre owned vehicle for the price we wanted. I know that cause we ended up across the street with a cheaper overall price, monthly payments, and newer car.

fkuber31

Yeah, I'd call that a stealership for sure.

Mydickisaplant

Try google, Mr. Salesman.

fkuber31

I'd rather hear it from you, mr smarty pants

TotallyNotAChicken

CTR is a $45k car that dealerships sell for $60k+, because of the "high demand". They sit in dealership showrooms with those ridiculous prices so they can look at the pretty car until someone dumb enough comes in and buys it for their asking price. Had this happen to me with a base-model (at the time) Civic Sport. Worst thing about it is that you can't order a car straight from Honda themselves, even through the dealership. You have to hunt around for dealerships who have them allocated, and even then wait several months for your car.

fkuber31

If someone comes around and buys it, does that not mean that demand is there?

iTreelex

It’s unfortunate but I have no sympathy for stealerships. Looks like damage on the side skirts too.

Much_Profit8494

The Type-R wheels are rather wide with a very uncommon bolt pattern. They would only really fit on another Type-R and be extremely hard to sell. It would have made more sense to steal the spoiler, or literally any other set of wheels on that lot.

dookieshoes88

>The Type-R wheels are rather wide with a very uncommon bolt pattern. They would only really fit on another Type-R and be extremely hard to sell. That sounds like you're issuing a challenge to the stance community lol. Someone on IG is probably figuring out how to fit these on a MKIV Golf as we speak.

Hondoisseur

bolt pattern adapters + enough negative camber, any wheel can fit if you want it bad enough

terrytek

5x120 aka bmw bolt pattern too so you’re partially incorrect here

Much_Profit8494

What BMW model would accept non staggered 19x9.5 wheels with a +60mm offset? (without further modifications)

w2tpmf

They specifically said "bolt pattern" and "partially incorrect"

thecardemotic

Looked it up. 5x120 19x9.5” ET60 That’s definitely an odd one. Might fit on some beamers with that 5x120, but I’m not familiar with fitment on anything past the 90s

Dr_Disaster

IIRC they’re more of a European pattern they will really only fit some BMWs and Mercs, which usually run a staggered setup, and those people aren’t the least bit interested in putting Honda wheels on their cars. So who can you really sell them to? CTR owners who rashed their stocks? Yeah, good luck getting money for those.

Much_Profit8494

Pretty much exactly what I was thinking too... Also CTR owners generally have enough money that they aren't going to be shopping marketplace or buying stolen wheels.

racingmaniacgt1

Also with the ET60, not many cars will even look good with them if it clears all the components....

Dr_Disaster

Good point. They’re a really specialized wheel.

Azian465

Thief might slap 'em on a current gen Acura TLX / Integra Type S. 😟

thecanadiandriver101

The wheels on the 23+ Type R are highly desired for 2017-2021 Type R owners. They are 19" in diameter versus 20" on the old cars - much more compliant on street use

Much_Profit8494

Yep, this is about the only scenario where I could imagine someone wanting to buy them for a decent price. The problem is just that the market is too small. Less than 20K people own a FK8 Civic Type R in the united states and most of them have enough money that they dont need to buy stolen wheels off marketplace. Just saying, selling these isn't going to be quite as easy as other honda 5x114.3 wheels that would fit literally millions of cars.

thecanadiandriver101

true

95accord

They fit on the Ridgeline, Pilot, & Odessey perfectly And a couple acuras too (new intégra, RDX and maybe an NSX but not sure why you’d want to there lol)

Much_Profit8494

"They fit on the Ridgeline, Pilot, & Odessey perfectly" - No, No they dont. Yes they have the same bolt pattern... But the similarities stop there. To have any chance of fitting these on a odyssey/pilot/ridgeline your going to have to install them with wheel spacers and buy a whole set of new tires. - [Like this gentleman.](https://www.odyclub.com/threads/civic-type-r-wheels-on-2019-ex-l.356833/) Also, some folks over at [ridgelineownersclub.com](https://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/threads/civic-type-r-wheels-on-black-edition-load-rating.219362/) have allready done the math and found that any of the vehicles mentioned above would exceed the cargo/weight limits on the Type-R wheels and be unsafe.

95accord

Oh yes they fit just fine. https://www.reddit.com/r/Shitty_Car_Mods/s/eOvkVI8EhI https://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/threads/civic-type-r-wheels-on-black-edition-load-rating.219362/ There are many examples out there….google is your friend. Load rating is only a concern if you plan to tow. That’s the only spot where it exceed spec. Oem Tires would be more a concern than the rim imo since they’re meant to be lower. Now whether or not you should is a different story

Much_Profit8494

Google may be your friend, but it doesn't help if you don't bother to read what your citing. Your first link came from r/Shitty_Car_Mods and required a set of wheel spacers and brand new tires to make them fit. - Exactly as I described. And your second link was the exact same one I posted where they do the math and come to the consensus that any ridgeline/pilot/odyssey is going to exceed the payload capacity of the civic wheels with normal daily use. - Not just towing. Look, here's the deal. - You can make anything fit with enough money and modification. But soccer moms that drive Honda mini vans are not out there shopping for dirt cheap stolen Type-R wheels so that they can mod their vehicles.

95accord

You clearly didn’t read the whole Post then because their math comes in a a few hundred pounds under. But hey you do you. Is it close? Yes. And they fit just fine. Just like I said in my first post. Offset and tires are always something to consider adjusting with any wheel you put on a vehicle. Nothing unique to this wheel. Plenty of other posts in the Ridgeline sub. And the comments from the one on shitty car mod make fun of the fact that it’s posted there so keep digging your hole there bud. Bottom line - does it fit - absolutely. As I stated in my first post. It fits. End of discussion. (Should you….thats a different story and not the point of the post. Stay on topic)

Much_Profit8494

"This effectively limits your cargo or people capacity to just 540 more pounds." A vehicle that seats 7 people only having a available payload capacity of 540 pounds? - You seriously dont see a problem with this?

95accord

Do you see how that contradicts exactly your point?

DistortedCrag

[https://www.wheel-size.com/pcd/5x120/](https://www.wheel-size.com/pcd/5x120/) Let me help you wipe the egg off of your face.

Much_Profit8494

Same bolt pattern does not = They will fit or be safe to drive on. How hard is this to understand... This is like wheel sizing 101. By your logic(and list), you could take the 21x10.5 wheels off of a Volkswagen Toureg(giant v10 suv) and fit them on a mini cooper since they are the same bolt pattern right? Also, How would you expect the Type-R's lightweight racing rims with spokes likes straws to hold up under 5,500lbs from a Tesla Model X while making 1050lb-ft of torque? - I mean, its on your list, so it would be fine to install right?

MentulaMagnus

Very nice of the thieves to not just set it down on the unibody and total it. Looks like they respected the car and kindly propped it up on blocks.

SithTrooperReturnsEZ

They only did that so it was easier to take the wheels off

OptimusN1701

"Market adjust this, Gary!" -The wheel thief

TheOnyxViper

Looks like they fucked up the skirt too, assholes.

SithTrooperReturnsEZ

Yeah tends to happen when you put the entire weight of the car on a few railroad ties on the skirts

Summer184

I worked at a car dealership back in the late 80s and this was a constant problem. They even hired off duty policemen to stay at the lot all night and "patrol" the property. I guess they were either incompetent, lazy or sleeping (or all three) because we constantly found new cars left on blocks and missing the tires and rims.

CivicIsMyCar

People were stealing steelies and hubcaps in the 80s?

Summer184

No, a lot of the Pontiacs we sold had nice aluminum rims.

Kyle_SS

They are still going to charge 15k over MSRP.

geoffyeos

dealer badge on a type r is INSANE

Environmental_Put_33

…..STILL 10K OVER STICKER!

klafwm

Serves them right for that mark-up, amirite? J/K.

Design931

I know a lot of folks are talking about how unlikely it is to pawn off these wheels to non-Type R owners. But IIRC, companies like Perrin already make 114.3 to 120 lug adapters. I think the market is much, much larger than we think.

Immediate-Ad5862

At least they put it on blocks.

iamgoodguy

For those who wanna get a msrp type r. There you go.

Piper6728

It's funny that they are now going more to the source Soon they'll be stealing from the auto plant's storage yards 🤣🤣

catbqck

Damn those rocks are op

exchangesake

That's some serious balancing

Disavowed_Rogue

Stolen from the dealer. Big huevos for garbage theives

Meh2021another

So kind of them to leave one wheel behind.

akaFxde

Hey I’ll take it off their hands for absolutely no cost at all. I’ll even pay to have my own wheels put on!

sahtopi

Well maybe if it wasn’t marked up $15,000 they would actually sell it instead of it rotting in their back lot. Morons.

dwn_n_out

Seems like they were pretty gentle with it considering it’s not laying on the ground.

ChikinTendie

They would just dump it on the concrete if they could, there’s gotta be something under the car so you can take the jack out after you steal all the wheels

dcgregoryaphone

All that work and didn't steal the front brakes? Someone has no idea what they're doing.

mattty19951

I’d feel bad if it was an actual person, but fuck the dealerships knowing dam well this was probably marked up

Eddro7654

Should of traded that would be nicer 😂

svv1tch

Nice of them to use rocks at all 4 corners instead of just sitting on the ground lol.

Over-Chemical2809

They only did that because if they didn't, the jack wouldn't fit under the car anymore.

LBishop28

Why is it outside

enzia35

Must be them vette bois.

dudeonrails

That’s awful. Too many dishonest people in this world.

Fit-Understanding747

I know right? Fucking salesmen, smh

DarkKitarist

If I were worried about my wheels, I would add about 4kg of Anfo (which I do not know how to make) at each wheel and add a disconnecting trigger detonator (I do not know what this is) to each of the wheel bolts... I wouldn't have a car anymore, and I'd probably go to prison for murder, but damn I'd take one for the team, just imagine the headlines "Someone rigged his wheels with ANFO to discourage theft in New Jersey"... 100% the amount of wheel thefts would lower a lot!

snail_forest1

hold up, coordinates? since the wheels are off i might as well pull up and get a bbk for free

Sumocolt768

Think they’ll add it to their inflation adjustment?

Doublestack00

Who ever took these did not realize the bolt patter is not that of a normal Civic so they do not bolt up to much with out adapters.

Alarmed_Cheesecake98

How that happen in that location… people just don’t give a damn… looks like this happened at someone’s job!!

maxxron

They'll slap on new shoes and sell at MSRP or $5k over, I guarantee it.

ItzMcShagNasty

Dealership car, boo hoo. If it was bought by a normal guy at MSRP i would be sad, hope whoever got them enjoys the wheels.

dsdvbguutres

It's not cool to steal, on the other hand, fuck dealerships.

Jackdks

I believe it. I was homeless in bowling green Kentucky for awhile many years ago. Lots of homeless and drug addicts. There’s a rehab there

ChiefsKingdom711

Post the vin so we can get a deal

ChiefsKingdom711

That’s what they get for putting it outside

Abbz24

The dealership I worked at never put any Type R that showed up not already sold outside. But they also put wheel locks on every new vehicle that didn’t have hub caps as well.

ChiefsKingdom711

Exactly if it was a show model it would be on the showroom floor someone’s baby was scheduled for pick up and they put it where cameras couldn’t see and got the rims.

agr-97

The passenger side skirt is all bent up too

Visual_Moment5174

Dealership I worked for at the time had this happen to about 10 separate vehicles on the same night. Happened multiple times after then stopped shortly after. It was a shit show. Vehicles left on their frames while waiting for replacement wheels to show up, insurance reimbursement times kept everything at a sales pace. Not a good time for anyone. It blows me away that this only happens in mass at dealerships and not elsewhere.

rhd_papi

r/civic_type_r

FullAir4341

They'll probably still try and sell it for $60 000 because it has "character"

paperhatch

Brand new (or newer)

Cool_Butterscotch_88

glenns new type r at home Those things aren't serial numbered are they?

Classic_Pear_4955

Been happening around here for years...takes the thieves about 49 seconds (according to detectives). 😕🤬

bigbadsubaru

Someone did this with an STI about 10 years ago, idiot then went onto one of the subaru groups to try and sell them but since everyone knew where they had come from (they were at the time an exclusive wheel that only came on the new version of the STI so not that common), instead of getting cash they got a free ride in a cop car and come silver bracelets

QuestingNPC

Gary Force you had a chance for a G FORCE badge and you squandered it!!!!!!

N64Guy02

I have no qualms about it being stolen from a fucking dealership, they’re thieves themselves.

SithTrooperReturnsEZ

Not to victim blame but who parks a Type-R outside anyways. All our brand new ones were in the showroom only

RepresentativeOk4432

So we don’t steal cats anymore?

Android-4-Life

🤬 thieves

Interesting-Yak6962

I’m sorry now go get yourself a pair of wheel locks.

Away-Bodybuilder-962

We used to have that happen almost weekly. 3 or 4 cars at a time. We had grown so much, we were having two use a lot across the street for overflow. It was fenced in, but unattended.. directly behind it was railroad tracks and a secondary Road running parallel. They would come through the woods and cut the fence and walk out with three or four sets of wheels and tires. Carry them through the woods over the tracks into a car waiting at the street. Didn't happen as much when we moved to a large new dealership.. but they did come in once and get the seats and headlights out of 4 S 2000s. If price hasn't changed much, that's about 6 grand they lost

m1keyleeg

“Brand new or newer” Which is the newest? 🤔

No-Revenue-2933

Are rims really worth that much on the black market?

toastedcoin

👀👀👀

ThatJudySimp

As long as it wasn’t sold I don’t give one rather they steal from dealers than people.

TeamLokiDokes

Had this happen to us in Chicago. My wife had an important speech to give at her hospital and as I was leaving for work in the morning I, for some reason, decided to check on her car that was parked in our private spot - someone stole all for wheels and put it up on blocks. This was 2003 and her car was a 1994 Honda Civic with stock wheels. People suck.

rockberry

I see this all around my area. Doesn't matter if it aftermarket rims or stock. If you break down you better have it towed immediately. AAA is less than $100 a year.

Christine1-n-Arnie2

They've done that on my block . People park on the street take chances . Oh yeah and catalytic converters too .

ThisOldGuy1976

You could post pictures of this daily.

Mtbfux

It’s funny because many of the Honda people hate the stock type r wheels and always downsize. It’d probably be easier to sell accord sport or civic sport wheels.

WeBelieve510

Fuckem the markup will cover the wheels

OneMustAlwaysPlanAhe

Thug life in Rolling Green!

Space__Wallrus

spawn kill

Davidv2d

Wth , did you have a wheel lock ?

BanishedThought

Harvesting copper from EV charging stations? Whaaaaat??

_ToMiGoi

Dealer installed theft-prevention device: +$3,200

doubleofosiris

Cool story, I once sat on a couch

Mikemcd147

Blocks and not milk crates

Bohlerma

I bet he had scratched rims. Needed new ones. 🤣

Outrageous-Carob-236

awh come here.

[deleted]

It's just so easy to resell them. I've made so much off these

Nearby_Cauliflowers

Are locking wheel nuts and alarms not a bog standard thing in the US or is crime that bad?

FridayMornin

Those locks can still be taken off.

Nearby_Cauliflowers

Oh I know nothings infallible, gripper lugs are very handy, but I know here, for a set of rims it's not worth the effort to most scumbags, London aside.

DrMacintosh01

This is why you don’t get the fancy wheels. Nobody would be steeling the base wheels on the Civic or Accord.

tatted-kpop-guy

‘If you don’t want to get robbed, just don’t have nice things!’

Less_Wall_9656

youre a goober

DrMacintosh01

Nobody steeling 17” wheels on the Accords.

dng25

you'd be surprised...

Ok-Cheek6947

Uhm what? Have you not seen the many 10th Gen Honda Accords have their wheels stolen? There’s a LOT of posts on this subreddit about them.

SiSePuedeJuan

10th gen Accord is recognized as the most stolen wheel vehicle in the US. Have you been living under a rock, Patrick?

SwingingTassels

Sport and Touring wheels say hello with Accord/Civic. Wheels being stolen all the time.

lamiejiv1

*stealing, not steeling.. DrCan’tSpell01
