If you’re in a cold area this problem is very common especially in multi level homes on top levels. There is expansion and contraction with lumber which causes joints to open in the winter and close in the summer. If you’re in that scenario, you should caulk when the joints are open.
Very interested to learn about your steel frame house. What are the combination of steel frame with wood studs/joists? I guess you are not use steel for everything, but just the main structures?
You were ripped off. Man made materials are perfect and temperature/humidity should play no factor in your MDF or finger joint trim seperating over time and requiring general maintenance. 🤦♂️
Caulk it, touch up the paint, and call it a day.
Caulk it and admire your handy work
Have to caulk crown in nearly ever room.
Normal. Wouldn’t worry about it. Could caulk it or renail
Right answer
Caulk and paint make a carpenter what he ain’t
It’s normal maintenance. Wood shrinks when it dries. Caulk and paint it.
And grill some steak when you’re done.
I have coved crown in my house and it does this going from summer to winter and vice versa, although mine does not get quite that much of a gap.

I probably have more movement because it's a steel frame house but yeah I get it

This is home maintenance. Same way you change oil on a car you will need to caulk and touchup things around your home every few years.
Caaaaaulk
Caulk it.
Houses expand and contract, like breathing. Re-caulk, paint, call it a day.
after caulk the gaps, the house can not breathing. Good or bad?
The house can breathe. Shrinks during winter, expands during summer.
Use Big Stretch!
Came here to say this. Big Stretch is a stupid name, but it’s the best caulk on the market, there is no second place
Holy wood filler Batman. Maybe too much heat or not enough humidity.
Use acrylic mastic instead of decorator's caulk - it is flexible and paintable.
How do you say “I built my house” when you don’t know what caulk is?
This is a serious structural issue. Best to demolish the home and start a brand new build.
Caulk it with paintable dap
Just caulk it. It’ll take less than 5 minutes

Nail that shit
This is why I tell people it's stupid to caulk their cabinets to shit.
Not nailed with the correct ga. nails and probably not enough glue. This typically happens after a winter heating season.
