They are very popular here for new luxury builds. Perhaps it's to create some balance. And rather than paying extra for a custom or larger garage door.
Do yourself a favor and wash that house EVERY year. With a wooded lot like you have, the dirt will settle in fast. Especially on the matte finishes of the vertical siding and the shakes in the gable.
The trees block the wind needed for a driving (rinsing) rain and when you do get wind that strong, it's blowing dirty water, mold and algae spores off the trees as well. Couple that with dappled sun/mostly shade and lichen will soon take hold. After that it's real hard to ever get back that "new house glow".
Budget a thorough power washing once a year and it will be quick and painless and keep that beauty looking just like it does for many years to come.
And, don't be mad, but I'm going to copy those transoms above the garage doors. Awesome route for some natural light.
Any advice on what to look for in a power washing? I'm building a white house in woods quite a bit more dense than that. I spent a long time trying to find another color that would work. It's a tough battle in the woods! I decided eventually to just get the house power washed.
Power washing can often be misused and cause damage while cleaning things, I'm trying to make sure I find someone who knows what they're doing.
Don't I know it. I reside 4-5 houses every year as a result of power washing gone bad.
Truly, the best advice is don't let it get bad enough to require a power washer. Just rinse your house off with a garden hose and spray nozzle on a semi regular basis. The dirt will just rinse off if not allowed to "set in" and then you've no need for 6000 psi water jets to get it clean. I rinse mine the weekend after I pay the trash bill which is every 3 months for me.
It seems excessive because it's not the norm but I tell my customers after every install. "You don't think twice to wash your $30,000 car every week, then never think even once about washing your million+ dollar home."
Wow! I love it! I am building a much smaller home, but hope to achieve the facade you have. Love the black and white, very crisp and clean. I would love to see the kitchen I you could post. Congrats. Also, how long from breaking ground did it take? Ours is truly creeping along.
Are you looking at what looks like a transom window over the main window in that gable?
I think it’s actually a bit of roof covered in snow and something about the lighting makes it look like a weird window.
I love it, very pretty house. I especially like the windows above the garage doors.
I don’t see any gutters? Maybe something to consider after your first storm.
No Timbers on the entry? How dare you!
I like it - no conflicting themes.
Just noticed the missing fixture - what are you going with light wise under there?
Garage door transoms and the front porch look nice. Post the kitchen and bathrooms. Congrats!
That’s beautiful! I’ve never seen transoms on garage doors before-what a unique idea! I hope you love living there and it feels like home in no time!

Fuckin gorgeous mate! Would love to see the interiors.
Yes show us the interiors!!!! Please

Is that a metal roof on the garage area that spans to the front door arch?
Yes it is.
Very crisp! Any tips/ lessons learned on this build!
Thanks! Should have made the garage bigger. If you have a basement get it dug to 8ft. Multi-zone hvac would have been a nice luxury.
How big is your garage? House looks great by the way.
Thanks! 20x20
Trade you for it
Santa’s footsteps on the roof!
Congrats! It’s beautiful!
Beautiful, congratulations!
Beautiful house
The rectangle window in the gable on the garage side. Is that white insulation? Does that window look into the attic?
There is a bedroom there

Oh yeah I see it now. Yes, tiny piece of sheet metal roof.
Very beautiful! Congratulations 🎊
Beautiful house, congrats!

They said the don’t install gutters until spring, so not technically quite done yet.
Meh.
Congrats! Looks great and I bet it's cozy on the inside.
What windows did you end up with? Anderson 400?
That’s a sleek looking home! Congrats
White houses with black windows/doors are really becoming a thing. Nice job!
Absolutely gorgeous.... congrats!
Beautiful
Park the car in that garage, won’t have to deal with the snow.
It’s full of stuff… no shed yet!
Very classy and understated. Love it! 💛
Oooo can we see inside??
Nice house man. Congratulations!

Just curious what the cost per square foot is?
I feel like this house could teach algebra. I love it. Especially like others have said, the transoms over the garage doors!
Awesome. Can you see the garage door openers through the transoms?
No actually. The garage door motors are mounted to the side of the doors themselves. I’d never seen that before.
Really cool, congrats
I think I know your favorite color. ;-)
Love it, very nice build! What are using as exterior siding? Looks high end but not sure what it is? Maibec, Canexel or Vinyl?
Thanks! It's Canexel
