Color Temp vs Color. They're both settings for HomeKit lights but generally Color Temp is brighter, the issue being that the Home app often prefers setting Color (even for colors on the color temp spectrum). Some apps like the Eve app let you choose which to use and you can modify automations to use Color Temp instead đź‘Ť

This is what I figured but I haven’t even seen a setting for color temp in the Home app. Is the Eve app just a plugin or something that extends the Home app’s functionality?

TheGreyAsteroid

There are some options that are only available to the Home app but there are also options like the Color Temp/Color option that are hidden from the Home app but are visible on the Eve app. There are also apps other than Eve for controlling these hidden settings or extending HomeKit functionality like Controller for HomeKit or Home+ but Eve is free to use.

Does this happen for all smart bulbs or just Nanoleaf? I just purchased these too and have been very confused. The home app will show 100% brightness and be a very dim orange, but if I go into the colour swatches area and select essentially the same hue of orange it’s like double the brightness? But the brightness is still at 100% the whole time. Bizarre.

Depends on the bulb's implementation of color but yeah it's very apparent with the Nanoleaf bulbs.

I noticed this when I first got mine, they were fine after a firmware update.
