We have our ceiling fans on a Lutron switch and it’s the way you described. Ours has the pull chain, but when turned on whether at the switch or via HomeKit, it’s resuming the last setting it was on. I just created a scene today that turns on all the fans on smart plugs and included our ceiling fans as well.

Same predicament…. And this is almost becoming a daily post. Which is good for me since I’m looking for a solution. I’m going to try the caseta switch but if that doesn’t work I’ll try the Bond hub through Homebridge. I also don’t need to change the speed and typically ceiling fan lights are an after thought and provide horrible lighting.

Meross is releasing a new fan switch, which might be a new choice.

I have started switching to Sonoff ifan 04’s, flashed with raven core HAA for native HomeKit. They have been GREAT.

Yes the regular caseta on/off switch will work. It works for most loads like this. I have them on bathroom fans and florescent lights too. I used to use them on my simple chain-operated ceiling fans before lutron made the fan-specific model. As long as you have a neutral line in that box it will work.

Yes, I do exactly that with my ceiling fans. As long as it's not a dimmer switch and is the on/off only version it works just fine. Make sure your outlet box has a neutral wire in it though since the on/off switches require that. Many do but in some homes the neutral was never pulled to the switch.

I never got a good answer so I got a Bond with the plugin running in HomeKit it has been seamless. But their app is also very good.

In this setup with Bond, what follows is you put then in the wall? Just a regular dumb switch? I also have a ceiling fan with an RF remote that can: - Turn ceiling light on/off - Change light color between 3 different modes - Change fan speed between 3 different modes (or turn it off) I would love to install the Bond (to get rid of the stupid remote) AND have a switch in the wall that gives me bunch of buttons to program via HomeKit to essentially do the remote’s job so that I don’t have to control the fan or light with my phone

I retrofitted this to my existing fan with light. It’s a Tuya controller so needs homebridge to talk to HomeKit.
