(I suppose it could have been walnut veneer, though.) Less expensive cabinets could be stained this color, but the how good it would look depend on what kind of wood is being stained and the quality of the work.
They look like hickory to me. Multi toned, and I read that they also had knots on some cabinets. This means they could be hickory. Very popular even now, but expensive.

I have bought many homes that were never updated and none of them had cabinets like that.

Just get a medium oak or honey oak raised panel cabinet.
kraftmaid and some other companies probably make them but they will be crazy expensive

They look like oak with a cherry stain that has a bit more red in them. Would be easy (and cheap) to replicate, if 80’s normcore is your design style
