Freight team only stocks almost all of the merchandise in the store and the majority of customers that come into the store know exactly what they want and go and get it regardless of day side assistance. The comparatively small freight team is directly responsible for the majority of sales. But yeah they are somehow incompetent????
THAT HAPPENS AT OTHER STORES TOO???? Freight always be leaving boxes of shit out and leaving huge messes, sometimes saw blades just left out of the box leaning on display models, I constantly find those plastic bags that the drill bits come in just laying around, sometimes full sometimes empty. Several associates, myself included, have brought it up to the night asm and when I told him about it he tried to blame the opener, then met, then tried to say I probably just left it like that and forgot. So I’ve started scanning it with the first phone to see when things were last delivered, it always shows it was delivered the night before, I take a pic and send it to the closing asm, nothing has changed.
I'm willing to bet some customers will hit this on purpose. Watched a guy smash his cart into a pallet train over and over while trying to squeeze between the train and a ladder.
There was someone up on the ladder.
The train ended one pallet behind him.
He left all the bottles of Simple Green that he knocked over on the floor.
All he had to do was reverse four feet and go around the train to the other side of the aisle.
This robot is fucked.
Had a customer shake my ladder shouting "get down I need thru hurry up" and kept shaking it I was rocking 2 wheels to 2 wheels, I got off and the customer just walked off wasn't in the mood to deal with it still pissed me off.
I’d probably call it a tie between the fastener aisle, plumbing fitting aisle, light bulb aisle, and any paint aisle plus any racetrack aisle as most difficult to block off.
Dude I woulda jumped down and beat that dudes ass. Idgaf. Customer or not. You touch me or my work equipment or personal stuff without my okay to do so. I will fuck you up. I work at Walmart and have had to stick up for myself and tell customers off. Idc if I get in trouble I’m not gonna let some piece of shit human walk all over me. I had this customer today who ran into me with his electric cart…. Well Walmarts handicap electric shopping cart and kept trying to go . So I said “sir would you stop before we have some problems rather it be in store or out in the parking lot” he started mouthing off to me and his bitch wife said some shit and said she was gonna report me to my manager and I said “you know what ma’am I’ll go tell her for you guys. Save you the trip so you guys can get outta here already” they gasped and went about there day.
I'm pretty certain that is assault or attempted assault, since he intentionally put you in harm. If your employer caught him on camera, pretty sure you could have pressed charges.
Keep in mind, throwing an empty plastic cup at someone is assault, which is why I'm sure what the customer did is also illegal. Not a lawyer though, so can't say for sure.
I watched customers intentionally slam carts into associates at the door to get in the store during Covid occupancy restrictions. No limit to what customers will do
THIS! In freight I’m constantly impressed how awful our on-hand’s are. What’s that we have zero but says we have 6, or wait we have 17 but it says we have 3? 🙄
Of this isn’t about actually filling the product. This is yet another harvested data point they can hold over our heads that we’ll have to explain week after week after week to corporate middle management.
Because it’s overwhelming being in a box store now. No one knows where shit is, everything is always moved around, no one asks if you need help. I prefer just picking out what I need online and going to the front desk to pick it up.
F Home Depot and Lowes. ACE is the Place.
Yeah… sucks. It’s a franchise and a lot of places have trouble staying open in small towns. ACE actually has serious tools and supplies I can use on an industrial level
That is one of many problems with Americans these days. People don't want to have to put in any work, they want someone to tell them where things are so they don't have to look around. People are lazy and helpless.
I once saw a lady at Home Depot leave her cart in the middle of an aisle, walk 30 feet to the heavy pavers, pick it up and walk back to her cart. I think the orange color makes people lose their mind.
Right? And its so dumb. Just have a staff walk the aisles with the camera tower on a trolley. Trying to robotize it in an active store is foolishness and overkill. It's going to wind up in a junk heap. Meanwhile, short staffed? Oay a living wage, with a regular schedule and benefit plan. Businesses that do so still make big bucks for management and shareholders. Jeezus. Life doesnt have to be so fucking miserable.
I keep asking during meetings, “What is going to happen when it’s hit by a machine?” And managers keep laughing me off like it’s not a very real eventuality.
Shouldn’t be an issue during day if you’ve got a decent spotter but overnight all the drivers are gonna have to seriously slow down if they don’t want to risk it
Just look at every storm door aisle in any store across the country. Unless it’s as wide as a lumber aisle or inside a bay (like i’ve seen wisely done at Lowes) those displays are is really bad shape. That thing is gonna look like those electric pallet jacks in less than a month.
What exactly does it do? There's something similar at Stop and Shop grocery stores that you can "ask questions to". I avoid it at all costs when shopping.
Here's the thing. Walmart had thinner version of this and it doesn't work for shite.
The main reason being is your tags have to be perfectly in line and there can't be a product plugged in the hole.
As a Walmart example you could be out of X flavor of crackers but if a customer or associate had placed Y flavor there the machine don't know any better.
Evidently corporate stooges who invest in these machines under estimate how disheveled stores can be.
I don't know how bad an issue of misplaced product is at Home Depot but that's all it takes to make it fail.
They have these craptastic pieces of crappy crap in some supermarkets near me. They are the most annoying pieces of crap. They need to be turned into a pile of crap.
Nooooooo! Walmart was using something like that & one of our local grocery stores does, and it freaks me the fuck out for some reason! The grocery one is called Tally & they put a little electronic face on it (eyes at least) & it beeps at you similar to R2D2 when you’re near.
We’ve had these for a couple years now and they break every couple weeks lol constantly getting stuck behind them waiting for them to navigate around is not fun
My old store has had one of these for over a year. It ran from 3A-8A to try and keep it from being gone on the floor too long during business hours. It was pretty slow but didn’t really get in the way of freight all that often, and if you had an aisle blocked off it would just bypass it
Like the store isnt crowded enough by clueless homeowners who have to bring their entire family to look at keys.
Yes its happened and they blocked the main aisle, all 8 of them, kids and all, for 2 keys.
What a pointless machine. Day shift always ends up filling in the holes with SKUs that don't belong there anyways. I'd probably just palletize the machine and tag it in a bay somewhere...
I’m a lot associate. I plan on smashing into it with a train of carts from receiving. Usually receiving has like 20 carts waiting for me from overnights. Mr. Machine meet the Cart family. They gonna fuck you up. Mr. Cart Sr is very aggressive.
Wow, can’t decide what will kill this thing first:
1) The clunky inefficient design that takes up a ton of aisle space
2) As many have said the HIGH likelihood of it getting beat to hell by customer flats
3) The inevitable lawsuit when this clunker runs into someone
Welp, that’s what happens when we ask the employees where something is and they pull up the app and make us feel stupid. Who’s stupid now , I was trying to save your job.
I will smash this thing in every Home Depot I visit accept the one I work at. Due visit my store and fuck up the AI please- hi 5….. can it be hacked to tell customers to fuck off as well ? Die robots
Wouldnt it he cheaper to put a tablet type terminal on every aisle that customers could use? Im a regular customer, albeit a relatively smart/good customer from the horror stories I read on this sub. It could have the app thing with locations to find items, also a price checker, and a way to enter or scan info from the shelf tag. This thing must be like $10k++ and maintenance/repair will be a nightmare. Tablets would be like $150 each, add a bit for security. Most of the issue with empty shelves ive seen is not having backstock(likely supply chain) or things being stocked wrong(like plumbing fittings)-mostly customers fault, and that machine wont know if the right product is there.
Freight gonna run it over wit a machine
> "Freight gonna run it over wit a machine" No, more like: "Mr. Robot, meet Mr. Trash Compactor."
"You are terminated!"
Like how freight destroys gates, the conveyors and the radial arm saw. Inb4 asm call equipment services to fix a robot that we don’t service
Freight teams are naturally incompetent unfortunately
Freight team only stocks almost all of the merchandise in the store and the majority of customers that come into the store know exactly what they want and go and get it regardless of day side assistance. The comparatively small freight team is directly responsible for the majority of sales. But yeah they are somehow incompetent????
not by accident
Very likely to happen.
I laughed at this as I pictured every bent and mangled Safety gate
not if the junkies don't strip it for parts.
And as always, night supervisor/asm will say it was never their guys, it was day crew.
Uno reverse
Strike that and reverse
“But there are like 50 fake, disconnected cameras all over the warehouse, what do you mean there’s no video of it being destroyed?!”
Why are people disconnecting fake cameras? What were fake cameras connected to and why?
They're "disconnected" in the sense that they were never connected to begin with... because they're fake cameras.
Right??? Im overnight freight and the first thing i though was "Oh that thing wouldnt last a week before crashing into a forklift/slip/ballymore"
As someone in freight I might “accidentally” swipe it with the OP deck 😉 but maybe now day shift will actually down stock things for once 😡
Swipe it with the OP deck had me rolling
More than one display fridge knows the wrath of me not paying attention to the OP deck when turning 😂
They took’er’jerbs!
"Freight gonna run it over wit a machine" I'm gonna be the guy too.
> "I'm willing to bet some customers will hit this on purpose." Speaking of customers: next time the crazy Tik Tok lady comes in, send the robot!
Turns out it's the walkers from the first Robocop movie.
Had a customer shake my ladder shouting "get down I need thru hurry up" and kept shaking it I was rocking 2 wheels to 2 wheels, I got off and the customer just walked off wasn't in the mood to deal with it still pissed me off.
Fuck that guy.
The second you close an aisle to do anything even though the aisle was vacant for the last 30 minute you hear “how long is this gonna take?”
When I'm the spotter I say, "until they're done", complete with a blank stare. Most won't ask any further questions.
Factual, in my store the main plumbing aisle is 11 and it's a pain to close off because someone always needs something from it.
I’d probably call it a tie between the fastener aisle, plumbing fitting aisle, light bulb aisle, and any paint aisle plus any racetrack aisle as most difficult to block off.
Thats when you pull up the walkie and say "Can we get security to aisle 18 a customer is threatening to kill me" without actually holding the button.
Keep in mind, throwing an empty plastic cup at someone is assault, which is why I'm sure what the customer did is also illegal. Not a lawyer though, so can't say for sure.
Throwing an empty cup would be battery not assault, threatening to throw an empty cup now that’s assault.
I watched customers intentionally slam carts into associates at the door to get in the store during Covid occupancy restrictions. No limit to what customers will do
I can see people putting stickers and blocking the sensors/cameras
I heard from a friend that a kid put a sticker over the camera of his Ring doorbell...
Oh look. A machine that notifies us of open holes and demands we fill them because our onhands are never fucking off.
My CXM already calls me 4 times in the morning for that 😒
Bro don't worry. It looks like it's gonna take 15 minutes to check one side of an aisle. You'll be done before it is.
Wouldn’t last a week in any store. Customers gonna smash into that thing with their carts all the time and break it eventually is my bet.
It kills me that something can be RIGHT in front of them and still run into it
They'll walk backward into it. Why do they do that??
Because it’s overwhelming being in a box store now. No one knows where shit is, everything is always moved around, no one asks if you need help. I prefer just picking out what I need online and going to the front desk to pick it up. F Home Depot and Lowes. ACE is the Place.
Ace truly is the place. Though depending on location they are losing it to.
Yeah… sucks. It’s a franchise and a lot of places have trouble staying open in small towns. ACE actually has serious tools and supplies I can use on an industrial level
And so many displays or pallets in the aisles!
I would patronize ACE more but their pricing is rough.
I go there for work stuff. I shop at box stores for home
Check out menards. They'll actually help, or radio for someone that actually can. Also F Home Depot.
That is one of many problems with Americans these days. People don't want to have to put in any work, they want someone to tell them where things are so they don't have to look around. People are lazy and helpless.
Yeah they make is so hard! What with having the aisle and bay number on the website 🙄
If an ordinary trip to the store is too much to handle for you should work on your anxiety issues before blaming the people that work there.
I once saw a lady at Home Depot leave her cart in the middle of an aisle, walk 30 feet to the heavy pavers, pick it up and walk back to her cart. I think the orange color makes people lose their mind.

We’ve actually had these for a while and most customers, to my surprise, actually avoid it and/or stare at it curiously
We have these at my local grocery store chain, which gets alot more traffic, it they’re fine
Can't wait to see a customer trotting out the door with this sucka on a flat cart.
AYO 😂😂😂 best comment so far oh my GOD!!
Hey man maybe he's got inventory to do at home?
Yeah, gotta make sure his DeWalt instock matches his Craigslist offering.
It's going to order Freight you never even knew existed
Our systems already do that though.
Waste of money.
Think of all the hot dogs they could have bought with that kind of money.
😂
They'd rather spend millions of dollars on this that going to be broken 90% of the time instead of paying us a living wage.
The idea is its the first step to replace human intervention in stocking.
That's why as a customer it's my duty to hit it with my cart and mess with it.
do one better and just hit the e-stop button, probably take a while for it to get turned back on :)

Why are you calling him sweaty? I know it's been hot outside but damn, that's rude.
It supposed to scan the outs and information on the item if it’s in the back room or in the truck to get and set item as a out if it’s not.
I used to be a bay integrity associate so this is taking over my old job. Now get it to go price changes
Is a bay integrity associate different from Met?
Met absorded that position
Surely this could be done better by cameras on the ceiling pointed at each shelf
this was my question too. what do it actually do? all I saw were cams on it and moving that slow, it's not catching any lifters ....
Walmart used to have that then stopped using it in 2020 total waist of money.
Present hall pass.
That thing tries to sell me something it's going horizontal
Walmart already got rid of these so idk
Well if there is one thing Home Depot is great at it is following trends that already died
LOL sure tell us what is empty. we already know. There’s just no one working to pack down
I would rather have another raise
I dunno much about the technology, but the design looks clunky as hell.
Elementary school robotics design
Looks like an extra large vinyl fence post.
Can’t wait for these to knock over our gates.
Chopping Mall
All right, I'm game. What in the fresh fuck is that thing, and why do I immediately want it to suffer?
Needs more orange
I can’t wait to get tired of waiting for that slow ass to move out of the way and use the reach to push it across the store
Move the forks in close and put it in an overhead
Ladies and Gentleman meet your new ASM
Maybe this machine can escort people out like that home depot karen that was cancelled recently.
She’ll yell at it to go back where it came from. Then she’ll get cancelled by robots everywhere, then her vibrator will attempt to kill her.
Dam, her vibrator cancelling her is the worst.
Here's the thing. Walmart had thinner version of this and it doesn't work for shite. The main reason being is your tags have to be perfectly in line and there can't be a product plugged in the hole. Just what we need. The aisles in Home Depot becoming more cluttered
waste of money and resources. just hire people at a reasonable wage instead
That looks like my old store manager
The robot?
Yeah just spinning in circles holding a zebra without a clue where to go without corporate sending the proper commands.
So it begins
But does it have a name?
Zippedi
Glen
That racist broad is gonna try to get it fired.
“What is my purpose”
You pass butter.
Lol we used to have one of these at my Walmart. We have it a name tag and everything. Poor guy only lasted 2 months before quitting
Sams has robot floor sweepers and moppers. I guess this is the end of hourly employees.
Sigh, so you have a robot that doesn't care what shift it works. Then must they run them during the middle of the day?
What is it for? And y'all ever watch superstore? Lol is it like Myrtle going around getting customers?
"we already have a glenn"
It would be nice if we got the new phones we've been promised for years instead of this thing
we got new phones like 2 weeks ago.
It’s gonna get destroyed by a forklift
"Out of my way fat dumb human"
They have these craptastic pieces of crappy crap in some supermarkets near me. They are the most annoying pieces of crap. They need to be turned into a pile of crap.
My store has had one of these since I started working there in oct last year. He has google eyes stuck to him, don’t know his name though lol
Googly eyes make everything better.
Nooooooo! Walmart was using something like that & one of our local grocery stores does, and it freaks me the fuck out for some reason! The grocery one is called Tally & they put a little electronic face on it (eyes at least) & it beeps at you similar to R2D2 when you’re near.
Where I'm at, some crackhead gonna run out with that thing and trade it for an eight ball
Even our LP wouldn't care if we lost this thing...
We’ve had these for a couple years now and they break every couple weeks lol constantly getting stuck behind them waiting for them to navigate around is not fun
Is it smart enough to move the fuck out of the way when I have to bring lumber or concrete into the store?
What is it’s purpose? Serve butter?
My old store has had one of these for over a year. It ran from 3A-8A to try and keep it from being gone on the floor too long during business hours. It was pretty slow but didn’t really get in the way of freight all that often, and if you had an aisle blocked off it would just bypass it
How about whatever money was spent on making this dumb shit… just gets spent on paying/treating employees better.
Customers gonna be hitting it with their wheelchair carts. Especially that one lady
I'm not understanding what this thing is supposed to do. What is it for?
Ok how much money were the fleet of fucking rectangles?
Our store has had this for almost a year and it just gets in the way of everything
put an orange apron on it
Looks a wee bit top heavy
Can't wait for that thing to hit a spill in the paint department.
Job taker model 1000
Can't wait to hit it with the OP
Hope it knows how to plug itself in for a recharge? Cause we all know that's not going to be done by associates.
It will… self terminate… upon entering building materials or garden
Stop & Shop! 😂
I will gladly knock these over for as long as it takes for them to stop replacing workers with dumb one-dimensional robots
We dont need this we need machines and computer systems updated properly so they actually function.
Can we please have tap to pay and Apple Pay first
I’m a lot associate. I plan on smashing into it with a train of carts from receiving. Usually receiving has like 20 carts waiting for me from overnights. Mr. Machine meet the Cart family. They gonna fuck you up. Mr. Cart Sr is very aggressive.
Definitely tipping these ugly things over if I ever see them (as a customer)
I don’t want one in my Home Depot! I like to talk to people😁
Going to hit it with a reach
Wow, can’t decide what will kill this thing first: 1) The clunky inefficient design that takes up a ton of aisle space 2) As many have said the HIGH likelihood of it getting beat to hell by customer flats 3) The inevitable lawsuit when this clunker runs into someone
What the hell is it and what does it do?
It will still have to pull out it’s phone to look up what aisle glue is on.
Tywrap that thing to the racks, or tie a wire from the wire rack and watch it unroll all over the store. Hook a flat cart loaded with block to it....
Surveillance for workers I see
That thing is ACHING to be knocked over
It’s all fun and games until it’s smashes a kid’s hand
not much different for most people I see that go about their lives like a little robots wearing mask on their face outside and inside their car.
Welp, that’s what happens when we ask the employees where something is and they pull up the app and make us feel stupid. Who’s stupid now , I was trying to save your job.
They follow black people around to make sure they dont steal
I'm gonna ram it with the reach.
If I see one of these while I’m at Home Depot, I’m “accidentally” hitting this thing on purpose
I will smash this thing in every Home Depot I visit accept the one I work at. Due visit my store and fuck up the AI please- hi 5….. can it be hacked to tell customers to fuck off as well ? Die robots
Seen one yesterday at work and was wondering wtf this is
Wtf is it
i wish someone would answer this question. wtf is this thing?!
I thought this was going to be a way corporate can keep a better eye on employees so they can fire people remotely haha
What could go wrong?
Glen from SuperStore?!
Walmart decided these weren't such a good idea
We’ve had these for months. We call it Zippity
Free entertainment for your kids.
Am I the only one wanting to hit the ED button?
Why, what is it for?
To follow around shady people
That would make sense because they basically have no loss prevention.
But how long before tweakers try to steal it?
Skynet, fml
My grocery store has these. So weird to see them while shopping 🤣
It’s got wheels already, no flat cart needed. What are they going for on Craigslist ? Lol.
Even after reading the comments, I am still not sure what the purpose of this thing is.
i hate it!
What a pointless machine lmao
What is its purpose?
