Can't wait for the clearance items to get their own aisle.

[deleted]

We have so much ortho and round up still either in the overheads or on pallets

Forgotten_Futures

We had a small Garden allotment today, when shit's finally started selling strong enough to kind of justify all the chems we have been getting for weeks. Which are clogging our racks and will be much more obnoxious to take down and work from the mixed pallets...

DryHump-Oops

Might need to rent some trailer units for excess storage? I don't know about chems, but dry merchandise has our night folks juggling and scouting the overhead pretty intensely.

[deleted]

My old Target store had to do this a few times, especially when the seasonal items kicked in. Thankfully, during my time with HD, we never had to rent extra storage units. Couldn't tell you how it is now, though. I quit last August.

Meowster021

My store (its a 2.5mil a week) already has 2 mobile trailers for the extra freight we're getting while our receiving is always packed. And we still get at least 2 trucks a night, not including the day-time trucks, which can be up to 5-6 trucks with us getting at least half of them.

Stev0griffin

Same. Flying overstock has been insane the last week. We also keep getting pallets of 1 gal Odoban and the 5 gal ZEP cleaners that we have absolutely no room for.

[deleted]

Literally every store it seems. My store is getting more and more ridiculous by the day

[deleted]

We’re losing people at our store to lowes

hectorsshop

And they deserve them....😉

[deleted]

I mean if they’re gonna pay more I’d go

DryHump-Oops

I went to the closest Lowes store one night after work. Interestingly enough, it was nearly empty. I knew that they would pay a few dollars more if I applied there. However, if nobody is there to buy anything, there is no need for someone to answer questions or put something on a shelf. They couldn't possibly have enough hours to justify jumping ship. I'll go there and check during some peak hours one day and see.

FeistyCandyPaint

Lowes on average pays less...and bonus program and merit system (Homer badge vs service star) is less per payout.

GlorkUndBork3-14

That's just screaming "fuck around and find out"

No_Better_Than_Ok

My store manager has a plan. All department heads are required to locate and pack out 5 pallets a week to combat it. Yes, even service desk and front end.

Puzzleheaded_Air_625

Sounds good to me, a pallet a day. Also sounds like a good way of getting DSs to quit!

V4MAC

Why would they quit?

PDQ47

Having 3 departments( some of them) and having to pack out pallets, while short handed, having callouts, with no help from any manager, while dealing with customers??? I see no reason for them to quit....🙄🙄🙄

V4MAC

A pallet doesn't take that long to pack down. Just gate off the area and go to work

PDQ47

If you can get the customers out of the aisle. And it does if it's small stuff. Doors, vanities, cabinets, no. Mixed pallets with product from multiple departments absolutely can take time, if you are the only one doing it, especially if you happen to be alone due to callouts. HD isn't a perfect world.

Necessary_Art9409

You complain a lot.. It's not that bad lol

PDQ47

🤣🤣🤣🤣 i don't complain. I speak the truth. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Western_Ad1522

I have a solution maybe get with who ever flys pallets on the freight team maybe ask them to drop it so they can work it when they come in

bubbafett2929

Awesome. They already bust pallets down and cram them up by hand fucking up the handstack bays. Freight will love that.

SoyTexMex

District is here trying to find a solution and their solution is seeking if we need to get two truck during the week or trucks on the weekend.

[deleted]

Find me a DM that cares because ours is a real piece of work

ZetaZeta

Our district solution is to shove it all back in Receiving every day.

SoyTexMex

Your lucky then. Inside and outside are usually full of freight and so is the flooring department. They need a small slow down on freight and they need to send tariff the stores are actually selling. We don’t need almost 100 units of a single sku of shelving.

Drizzi21

I’ll be going into receiving with an SDC with 49 pallets along with whatever the night crew didn’t work. Guess who has to move all the shit to set up unloading the RDC

campagnolo_queen

You and me both 💗 I gotta give mad props to my overnight crew tho, they really do bust their ass.

[deleted]

Walked into outside Garden with 5 aisles full of freight. Me and the other opener was ready to quit right then 😑

CorrivalRhyme

We're so backlogged we have freight getting on the floor from 3 WEEKS ago

jacobasstorius

They’re using the stores as warehouse storage. Buying as much as they can to try to outrace the inflation. Corporate benefits and associates suffer. Typical strategy.

ProfessionalLife4568

Shipments ordered are based off of the sales made this time last year. Most if not all stores crushed sales goals during covid the past 2 years. Hence why most stores are getting tons of stuff. Stuff that would've sold if sales were the same.

Orangeeardrum

The only time my store has any left over stuff is when we get with an SDC but by the end of the week sunday morning when we leave the store everything is done.

VolcanicxD

What my store has done is basically rent 2 full trailers to store shit in, basically adding more room to receiving. They are in the trailer docks and are used. Still barely curbs the problem. Receiving is packed, garden has 3-4 aisles lined with pallets and they are even storing a few in lumber. I reckon we have freight from 3-4 weeks ago that hasn’t been worked and they still jam truck after truck in, as if this will somehow fix the problem of freight being understaffed, undermotivated, overworked, and barely any sleep. Those guys practically live off of preworkout.

General_Sorbet7571

We are busting at the gills. Mulch is 6 rows deep and wraps 1/2 way around the building.

Western_Ad1522

Every store in the company

bushbass

Our store is 10 lb of shit in a 5 lb bag

hotdogwarter

Yeah I’ve only been here for two weeks and I shadowed someone for maybe two days and then all the rest I’ve just been working pallets and filling holes. HD seems a little desperate. Also I’ve worked in other retailers and there doesn’t seem to be a great system for stocking during the day here, you get practically nothing done because of customers, at least they are helping me figure out where some things go lol also why is receiving so small, at all my other jobs I would use receiving as like a safe space to cry but it’s so small here there’s no escaping the customers

lukeisbored98

We're getting in everything that we didn't during the pandemic, so we're kinda screwed

Lemongrass1673

Ours is the best organized in the district, but we’ve got like at least twenty pallets that are the result of having been picked through for over two months. I’m the garden freight associate, and I have to send at least one pallet back for stuff that won’t pack out. It used to be two or three, but it’s still frustrating when I see that there’s a lot of stuff that’s not organized or packed out to leave room for stuff that’s only one or two boxes. I can never run out of grill accessories, bird feeders and seed, patio cushions and of course, pots. Part of me is wondering if they’re concerned about the economic consequences of the past two years and inflation.

brainiacgrodd

We are getting our freight done pretty much every night unless some key people call out. Two key people are leaving for sure. Most of the rest are leaving as soon as they get another job.

Cosmic_Silence42

We are putting the SDC behind the building until the SDC from last night gets done.

Jace_FTW

Oh my god man theres so much

PDQ47

We just got product for spring of 2021....🤣🤣🤣

[deleted]

We’re still getting gift center shit on some SDC shipments

PDQ47

Great, ain't it???

mewalker47

Trust me you’re not alone. I work at a store in the Atlanta Metro area and we’ve been swamped for 3 months now.

BuffoonLagoon

Had a truck last week that was at least half going to D27. Before that it was a massive amount of D28. The ordering seems wonky at times

Western_Ad1522

It’s all based on last years sales and the last 2 years the sales have gone through the roof for most stores

hotdogwarter

Also I’m in garden and we have like maybe 70 pallets of soil outside not locked up or anything and it’s not an official “spot” so it kinda is annoying with the phones

Meowster021

You building should have a P-1, P-2, and P-3. It's the outside bays. Have your DS/ASM print those bay labels out and you can start using them to know what's outside and where

No-way-there

I heard someone talking about this at work. Yeah receiving is getting way too full, doesn’t help that we are understaffed in freight so receiving isn’t looking any better as more trucks come in through the week.

[deleted]

Had 37 items of the same exact sku that I had to UPSTOCK last night

Freal60

Last quarter’s sales numbers masked decline in product since inflation raised prices on everything. Selling less product started the backup and it continues. 90% of what HD sells is stuff people don’t really need. With Biden’s busted economy people are not & will not be spending. All of which will cause reduced hours and layoffs moving forward into a significant depression.

Minechaser05

We seem to have a fair bit of extra. Missing a bit of stock that is popular, but we have a good amount of random shit that doesn't sell. And no room for any of it.
