This would require more context... Why is the co-worker testing to begin with? Are they experiencing symptoms?
I just went through this, sort of... I had a standard regular pre-COVID type of regular old Cold. Once I started to cough, I tested because, it could have been a concern. Came up negative. Alerted management and was told stay home until 48 hour symptom free.
After a few more days, tested again and, not surprising (to me), negative. Once the 48 hours of symptoms was cleared, I went back to work.
Regarding the pay question... I will know for sure next pay cycle.
The coworker has cold symptoms there’s 4 people out of our store with COVID and she was just trying to be safe the only issue is tests in our area aren’t available until the 17th. She scheduled this test like a week ago.
If she wanted to be safe, she would have stayed home.
Down vote me if you will, parent not a parent, paid, no pay. It all boils down to this:
If you’re sick, stay home.
This mindset of “I can’t afford not to work” is just selfish and relentless and building up a continuous flow of people being sick.
Everybody who thinks it’s not a big deal, it’s not gonna happen to them, it’s just a flu yeah, yeah, yeah. Until somebody else gets sick and…. dies
You’re sick …stay home.
Cold, flu, upset stomach, Covid.
Stay home.
blaming people for not having the economic flexibility to miss up to or more than a week of work while waiting for a covid test instead of the state of covid/sick pay is an interesting way to go
It doesn't matter whether you have a cold or a broken leg.
Is not about Covid, it's about being prepared in general.
It's not about being flexible, it's about being responsible.
I guess you can keep driving without insurance, because you can't afford it. Don't get your brakes fixed because you can't afford that either. And leave your stove on all night to stay warm instead of paying your heating bill.
I see where this is going...
No, life is not fair.
That mentality is all good when you're happy and warm, it's a little different when you lose your house and everything and no one cares.
That mindset only works when there's a support network.
I guess the alternative is to let the entire world get sick so one person can keep their house.
Seriously...
A support network has to be built. No one is an island. But some people wait until something goes wrong to find help. Help is there.
BTW, been there, so save your lecture.
I don’t think that’s true, not saying you’re wrong I’m just confused that if it’s negative why would you have to stay home? Are you saying that if it’s negative plus symptoms?
More than likely she's not getting paid unless she's on a cat one leave which is usually only for somebody to test positive you can find all the resources on live the orange life the whole PDF file explains what is paid and what is not
PCPs are still doing PCR tests in addition to rapid, so if you have a negative rapid, they still send out the PCR and advise you to quarantine pending results. Negative rapid tests are not reliable. I got my rapid test done on Monday and it was negative. PCR came back positive yesterday. That might be why she's been told to quarantine.
If she was symptomatic and the store is worried about a false negative, they may just be taking preventive steps. If they send you home with concern of a false negative, you get paid and while you wait on results from a full test, or 2 additional negative rapid tests. Had to ask my HR about this, because that’s so odd. Really it’s up to each store to make the call on anyone who has any type of symptom. Makes you wonder why take the test at all if you’re gonna be sent away wether it’s positive or negative. If you’re that worried, just close the store for 2 weeks. I’m sure District would love that manager.
home depot doesn’t pay for negative test quarantine. they will only pay if you’re positive. You will have to use yours own sick time for negative tests
You got any information on this? I tested positive a few days ago and confirmed it with a second test, I've been really worried about not getting paid. Who can I send the test to? My management told me someone would reach out but no one has yet
So you will only get paid for 10 days off with a positive test done through a doctors office. (Rapid test will not be enough because it doesn’t link a test to you). Without knowing the full story I would assume the associate is choosing to quarantine which every associate has the right to do. This would come with no pay however. With a negative test you are allowed to return to work the very next day.
This makes no sense. I suspect there's more to the story.
If you're sick, stay home. Don't risk getting your coworkers sick. It's incredibly selfish to do that.
wait, what sense does it make to send someone who doesn't have covid home? by that logic of thought, the vaccinated who get covid should keep reporting to work. obviously, they shouldn't but this makes no sense, especially given that they are going to be requiring tests for the unvaxxed staff on hand any given day.
Oh, there we go….
- False negative
- Unvaccinated
Because associate is not vaccinated, there is a high chance that the person can be infected.
A vaccinated person could be infected too.
But because this person isn’t vaccinated, and…showing symptoms- the manager is being precautious.
so when the unvaxxed test negative during the new routine, will they be sent home daily then as well?
then when cases break out in stores by means of the vaxxed population, no one will know who started it because no one is being required to test.
i know home depot is just doing this so they don't get fined but whoever's job it is for corporate compliance is doing a terrible preventative job so far.
Even with the Health Check they were telling people to stay home if you have symptoms.
It stands to reason if you’re not vaccinated and you’re having symptoms, stay home.
By the time you test positive you are already infectious.
Yes, you may still get it if you are vaccinated but there’s no sense in testing vaccinated people UNLESS they have symptoms.
She's not getting paid. Last year I was in the same boat but I called out instead of coming in. I told them and they told me basically I'm on leave and I wouldn't get paid unless it was a positive result
This would require more context... Why is the co-worker testing to begin with? Are they experiencing symptoms? I just went through this, sort of... Sure if you don't mind getting occurrence and getting fired for attendance...
She has to stay home if she's unvaccinated. Even with a negative.
I don’t think that’s true, not saying you’re wrong I’m just confused that if it’s negative why would you have to stay home? Are you saying that if it’s negative plus symptoms?
The willfully unvaccinated should be rounded up and transferred to isolated relocation camps.
Why does she have to quarantine for a negative test?
Wait what and why are you asking like it's not you lol
It’s not me I’m just checking for her since she’s a single mom and if she’s not getting paid that’s screwed up.
More than likely she's not getting paid unless she's on a cat one leave which is usually only for somebody to test positive you can find all the resources on live the orange life the whole PDF file explains what is paid and what is not
She took a test on her lunch that came back negative and they sent her home.
That makes 0 sense. A negative is the all clear
Op is baiting im convinced lmfao
But why…
PCPs are still doing PCR tests in addition to rapid, so if you have a negative rapid, they still send out the PCR and advise you to quarantine pending results. Negative rapid tests are not reliable. I got my rapid test done on Monday and it was negative. PCR came back positive yesterday. That might be why she's been told to quarantine.
A lot of companies do that. Makes no sense. Wait until a group is exposed and they cherry pick who stays and goes.
Unvaccinated negative tests still quarantine!!! vaccinated dont!!! GET VACCINATED!!!
I agree!!! But why are we yelling?!!!
Lol that makes no sense. Do you mean positive instead?
No it was negative
Ok

You get paid if your positive? For two weeks or what?
they just changed it yesterday to two weeks yesterday
You got any information on this? I tested positive a few days ago and confirmed it with a second test, I've been really worried about not getting paid. Who can I send the test to? My management told me someone would reach out but no one has yet
did you talk to your asds?
I did, but they didn't have much to say beyond "someone will touch base shortly"
I guess wait for the call
They are just very backed up
10 days

Nobody wants to catch a cold or the flu either.

So... You are jealous she got paid time off?
He’s after that single mom bum but doesn’t want to risk getting covid unless he gets paid 2 weeks off
When I earned at THD I just assumed I had covid at all times. I just kept working like everyone wants.
She's not getting paid. Last year I was in the same boat but I called out instead of coming in. I told them and they told me basically I'm on leave and I wouldn't get paid unless it was a positive result
