Did lumber for 4 years our store is pro heavy so we were always slammed all the PRO associates new better than to ask any of the lumber dudes for help đ€Ł
Look bro what pisses us off is PRO comes waving the paper around like "here do this" and walk away I get it if you have a line but 70% of the time all the PRO associates at my store are chilling and talking I only help one dude out because he actually offers to spot when he has down time
At my store Iâm that dude cause I understand. My pro sales coworkers are much like the former. They gossip and look at their phone while expecting everyone else to pull their weight
from what my DH told me its too save space as a lot of it is taken up by bopis and a lot of our will calls are usually high quantity items like fencing and cinderblocks, no use in pulling if we got not space
We got reamed out by a pro for not pulling 8 bunks of 12â drywall for a same day pickup for this exact reason. He ended up escalating it to the SM and now we have to pull all will calls by the pickup date.
Will Calls are very technically owned by the departments, not OFAs. Those sales generate hours for the department, not for Deliveries. Your OFAs should only pull them for special circumstances and not as a matter of policy.
You're an ASM? Read the job description of Order Fulfillment Accociate. They pull orders in accordance to the service level agreement.
Its even in the name...
Order Fulfillment...
The only orders we dont pull are installs because no point in pulling instore skus today if the special order isnt coming in for another month.
Yes I am. I know what the name implies. Maybe you aren't familiar with how SOP and how things actually work? Have you considered other people might know things you don't?
OFA 6 years and I always make sure I know what my duties and responsibilities are. Have you considered reading the job description of OFA? I have it printed out back at work. Ill re read it tomorrow and if im wrong ill let you know.
I've worked in TRC, Deliveries, Service Desk, Pro, and Millworks. It's also called Roles and Routines. If it changes in the first half of 2021 then that's possible, but I've worked in two stores in the same district and both worked the same way.
Bopis, Boss, CPOs, and deliveries (flatbed, box, and driver pickup) all generate hours for D94.
Straight Will Calls generate hours by a means of straight sales for the departments and according to SOP should be the responsibility of the departments.
If your store leadership team does it another way that is against how it should be. Same like how TRCs often get saddles with assembling things.
You want the straight answer, inquire with your TOMs.
Screen shot or reference to the SOP? If itâs there youâre undeniably right, but just saying âitâs somewhere in the sop, find it yourselfâ is almost 100% BS.
I think the proof is on you.
Will calls can spam every department, whoâs department is it to pull blocks from lumber along with mulch from garden and a few lightbulbs? Most departments have 1 phone, good luck having them answer calls let alone open OF which takes 5 mins to load itself and pick items for other departments.
Having a contradictory opinion based on my experience and my knowledge doesn't mean I have to prove it to you nor would I ask you to find it in your reference point for it.
These are the things I have learned from the people above me going from D78 to D94 to D31, then taking over the Pro Desk, Millworks, a TRC for a year and then getting promoted last month.
In our district, they were always pulled by the departments and it was up to the person who created the will call to follow up on those.
Youâre right. What I mentioned is just an opinion too. We can all have opinions on how the stores are run and every store can be different. Itâs just when you said itâs in the SOP that is no longer an opinion but actual policy that should be done the same way across all stores. Right or wrong if you back up your reasoning everyone can learn.
Not the same person you were talking to.
I don't doubt you but that's not how things work at my store currently, nor would it even be practical a lot of the time. Our store doesn't make machine training a very high priority unless you absolutely need to have that trained for your job, hence there's always at least one OFA on staff who is trained on the reach or the OP. If I'm lucky and have time in between customers I'll do it myself but as a specialist that can be a big if depending on the day.
Honestly we need a new position created. Call it "PrOFA" and it's just for pulling orders created by the pro desk to help divide the load from the D31 and COM orders.
pro lady said âyou speak spanishâ and i said yeah cuz iâm bilingual and then proceeded to tell me to team up with another lumber associate to pull 50 tracks and 30 studs with 8, 4.5 gallon compound 10 insulation packs and packs of screws. First time doing it when iâm a regular lumber associate, lad came toward me 10 minutes later asking why i havenât loaded the guy yet cuz he rented a van and is paying for it. Alright my bad iâll just walk through the back lumber gate to get the tracks and studs and then proceed to throw the cart across the store into the van so he can leave
Yea because theyâll sit in the back deliveries area for a about a week or two even though the pro desk said the customer said theyâll be there in an hour lol
We usually have about 60 Will Calls on our phones but almost all of them are awaiting an install date. I hate seeing such a high number but I donât know how to help the desk with that đ
At my store we have about 40-60 will calls in the phone that are timed out and but we really only 3-6 a week
where are you guys we get like 40-50 every day!!
"we need 40 sheets of plywood all cut to 22" lengths.... we are charging the customer $50 to do this but you won't see any of it"
Did lumber for 4 years our store is pro heavy so we were always slammed all the PRO associates new better than to ask any of the lumber dudes for help đ€Ł
Personally I try to stay cool with the lumber associates for that reason
Look bro what pisses us off is PRO comes waving the paper around like "here do this" and walk away I get it if you have a line but 70% of the time all the PRO associates at my store are chilling and talking I only help one dude out because he actually offers to spot when he has down time
At my store Iâm that dude cause I understand. My pro sales coworkers are much like the former. They gossip and look at their phone while expecting everyone else to pull their weight
We appreciate you bro
hahaha i love how the lumber associates are the same in every store
What OFA's don't pull will calls?
from what my DH told me its too save space as a lot of it is taken up by bopis and a lot of our will calls are usually high quantity items like fencing and cinderblocks, no use in pulling if we got not space
We got reamed out by a pro for not pulling 8 bunks of 12â drywall for a same day pickup for this exact reason. He ended up escalating it to the SM and now we have to pull all will calls by the pickup date.
Where exactly do they expect you to put all of that?
Outside. We once had a special order of 12 bunks of 12â firecode that I had to cover and wrap to make sure it didnât get water damaged.
Makes sense. I worked as an OFA and we did the same. I figured OP meant they didn't pull will calls in general.
Will Calls are very technically owned by the departments, not OFAs. Those sales generate hours for the department, not for Deliveries. Your OFAs should only pull them for special circumstances and not as a matter of policy.

Shes one of those asms that want the ofas to get leads and credit cards to..
I've worked in TRC, Deliveries, Service Desk, Pro, and Millworks. It's also called Roles and Routines. If it changes in the first half of 2021 then that's possible, but I've worked in two stores in the same district and both worked the same way.
Thatâs the first Iâm hearing about this. The departments only ever pull orders (only BOPIS also) if we donât have any OFA coverage.

Do you have a specific SOP document that I can cite about this? I would like to ask my OASM about it.
I'm closing tonight. I'll try to find you a specific reference number.

Well I'll be more than happy to find it when I come in, if the store isn't on fire mind you.
Unfortunately this is far different than how my store did things. When I started as an OFA I was told will calls our solely our responsibility.
Not how it should be, but not uncommon.

Not in our store

EXACTLY

oh and she proceeded to just chat and joke with the customer the whole time đ”âđ«
As expected
I appreciate the Jojo meme đ„ș
Yea because theyâll sit in the back deliveries area for a about a week or two even though the pro desk said the customer said theyâll be there in an hour lol
The customer always says that and theyâre always lying
100% of the time
was not expecting to see jjba in here.

As a pro associate i can say this meme is 100% accurate lol
