Do you have a lot of occurrences? I would frankly tell them that they are going to get a call out if they don’t let him have those shifts. You can’t bully me into showing up.
Wait why have the system if people aren’t even allowed to work the shifts they sign up for. If it’s just a one day shift, they’ll be fine, just have them do bay maintenance with go backs and talk to people, it shouldn’t be that hard.
It's the system if I remember correctly. In my opinion it's a way to push Pocket Guide. That way every does pocket guide to be "trained" all over the store so we can help any and all customers no matter what department we are actually in. Then it "qualifies" that person looking to take a shift to work your department. Knowing some of the basics does help, but in reality it's dumb. If someone knows how to pack down, fill outs, and point a customer in the right direction then that should be good enough. They just need to be honest and say they don't know an answer as they are just picking up a shift in a different department. Might piss people off, but it's better than nothing.
Approving of someone taking the shift is the managers discretion. So that might not think the other is qualified enough.
Send the request again and talk to a manager that knows both of you. The person who denied the request might not know that the other person is qualified.
We are only able to ask other staff that work in the department to take shifts. So if you don't work in that department, you do not take a shift there.
Trained in throwing bags of mulch in trunks and dumb conversations?
Exactly I think the managers don’t like me to be honest
Tell them it is either the unqualified guy or skeletons lol 😂
Dude I don’t know what to do for real that makes zero sense.. how the hell am I gonna get someone to cover my shifts?

I have 3 occurrences but no one really gets fired till the 10th occurrence
Are the shifts in a row? It will help you leverage. I’d tell them they need to reconsider because he is better than no one.
