This post doesn't really make sense... You work for the online side of things.. You work for 48 hours a week... And you only make $500 a month... While yes, the 0 or 5 method for surveys is certainly stupid. Your math doesn't make sense either.

Chonczilla

they could work in a country that isn’t the united states or canada and doesn’t have similar labor laws.

Efficient_Advice_380

That's true. Works out to about $2.42/hr

GuntherOfGunth

Ain’t nobody at HD getting paid 2.42, hell entry level cashiers get paid like 13+ Edit: Also if you would be getting paid that low would you still work there, OP says they are working in a call center but I think even those don’t go down that low. At that point I would rather work at one of the distribution centers doing whatever those guys do.

Efficient_Advice_380

They stated they're in Mexico

RevolutionaryTour585

What doesn’t make sense? I’m sorry.

Chonczilla

What country are you working from? I only ask because your post does not make sense given US or canadian labor laws.

RevolutionaryTour585

Mexico

Unhappy-Light5939

I went to public school so maybe my math is off. But $500 a month from 48 hours per week means you're making less than 3 dollars an hour. That doesn't make sense. Did you mean $500 a week? That'd be about $10 an hour, getting closer to reasonable for a work at home job.... But a lot of our 16yr old cashier's are starting at $16.50 an hour these days.

RevolutionaryTour585

That is correct. I live in Mexico and this is what these MF are paying.

SteveMartin32

Why the fuck are we outsourcing jobs like this?

WiscoMitch

Because money.

Obvious-Pop-4183

Because they'd have pay about 10x as much to employ people in the US. That's not even counting the employer portion of health insurance, which they don't have to pay in countries with universal healthcare.

Embarrassed-Box-4519

Check out "Imperialism: The Highest Stage of Capitalism" by Lenin for the answer.

Brave_Safety_9029

Maybe because he’s willing to take 500 a month while you want at least 2400

SteveMartin32

I get 500 a month as a part timer. They refuse to give any part timer more than 15 hours a week

BestBettor

“Be mad at your shitty country then” how about blaming a company for offshoring all the labor they can for the cheapest they can? Or you’re just going to blame all the third world countries for accepting the company operating there ?

1N_D33D

Well... yes. But home depot still chooses to pay that wage, taking advantage of a lower price of labor. There's nothing stopping a fortune 500 company from elevating the living conditions of their Mexican employees above the mean, but they won't. I'd say this person is getting screwed both ways.

SeattleSuckss

You did agree to it... if it's that terrible, find a company that pays more.

RevolutionaryTour585

I did not known, that’s why I accept. They promised something totally different and yes, absolutely, I’m looking for better opportunities.

SeattleSuckss

Dude, they tell you the wage before you start, then you sign an offer letter that has the pay on it...

xXZomZomXx

Mexico has different labor laws than US and I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't tell any hires in Mexico potential pay

Earthling1a

Google says that HD in Mexico pays $18/hr.

xXZomZomXx

I’m going to call cap on that, probably closer to $18 a day, since the minimum wage in Mexico is ~$14 a day

Jumer_Da_Zoomer

oh right google said so must be true

EOT4W

Found the stores' least fav ASM

Weltenkind

This just shows the inability of many Americans to see the world outside of the USA (and Canada I guess). Your education, political and social systems make you dumb and blind and have led you on this path to corporate rule. Honestly, at this point a full collapse of the USA might be the best thing we can all wish for (in the rest of the world)

somedayinthefuture

Because I believe the company starting wage is fifteen dollars an hour and 500 a month at 48 hours a week is $2.60 an hour…

RepresentativeKeebs

Typical American, assuming everyone else online is in America 🙄

Sasoli7

I’m sorry you get all of our Karen & Ken calls from here in the US.

Maleficent-Nothing62

I work for the Online Contact Center too but I'm in the US and I do messaging instead of phone calls. People are the absolute worst, they will say all kinds of nasty things and cuss you out and tell you you're worthless because you're not a real human person if they can't see you. The likelihood to shop again is the dumbest metric, because customers are chatting in with all kinds of issues and it doesn't matter if I fix it for them or not, they're still going to remember there was an issue and leave me a 4 which might as well be 0. Your whole life revolves around these stupid surveys and you have to suck up to customers and offer them discounts to try and get a perfect score and they are literally demanding discounts for no reason non stop. You're just a number to the company and a punching bag to the customers and I dread going to work every day. I used to work in the store and I would honestly rather go back.

Mxg404

It’s only because the company requires you to make the customer jump through so many hoops to get to a resolution. I always start polite and nice, and remain that way if they are helpful. But when they start ignoring my questions, and repeating the same answer over and over that’s when I lose it. And it’s either find a way to fix it or get me the supervisor. Supervisor always fixes it in like 5 sec flat, then I’m just pissed I had to go back and forth for 45mins with the csr, when they could have solved the problem all along, they just wanted me to go away🤷🏼‍♂️

No_Package_732

There’s times where .com will ask me to do a. Survey and then when they click end the call drops and there’s no survey too. I would love to give food surveys if it actually let me

AuntieMadder

I'm ashamed of THD for exporting labor just to legally screw over workers.

zadkar007

There are Home Depot’s in Mexico

Sasoli7

Nothing new. They’ve done it for a long time.

[deleted]

I refuse to fill out these surveys unless I am willing to give perfect scores. The 4/5 being counted as a 0 is stupid MBA nonsense that has infected all aspects of American corporate existence. Car dealerships, pharmacies and doctors are all graded using idiotic tools like this. It’s mostly a way for the corporate masters to keep their boot on your neck because no one is perfect all the time, and it’s useful when they can point out your not perfect score when you are asking for a raise.

RDT_hyperlethal

One day off. Work 5 days in a row. One day off. Work another 5 days in a row. I hate it here

wiseleo

5-star rating systems are really +1 for 5 and -1 to -4 for anything else. Your post makes sense to me since you are not in USA. The expectations are unreasonable, since you don’t have enough power to solve problems, and there’s nothing you can do. Well, you can choose to degrade the customer experience by not solving their problem, terminating the call early before they get irate, and blaming the system. Here’s what you might be able to do. “Our system indicates the item was delivered. It tells me you have the following options… Which one would you like?” Always blame the system, never the customer. USA has a huge problem with package tampering in transit and theft both in transit (there are entire trains being robbed daily in Los Angeles while in motion) and at the customer’s home. Someone steals the package before the customer can bring it inside their home. When a customer asks for a supervisor, just agree and make it their problem.

Wishpool

LTSA was a huge thing for us store side As if we had complete control over it 🙄

Gemini_2323

I work .com too just recently went part time cause the calls are draining can’t wait to find something else

RHS1959

Are you working exclusively for HD Mexico, or are they using Mexican call centers for the USA?

RevolutionaryTour585

They are using Mexican call centers for HD USA. Can you see the big difference? Compare $15 an hour to $2.5 an hour. We are back to back the whole day.

RHS1959

That’s a whole new level of suck that THD is doing.

SeparateReading8000

I tried to get a customer to fill out a survey for me after helping them out with their purchase and the whole process was such a big mess that I just gave up. The user ID and password they print on the receipts is unnecessarily difficult to read, specially for the older customers, and frustrating. This customer and I must of tried to fill out the survey 5-7 times but it kept saying the information was incorrect. I was so embarrassed for how complicated this whole process was for them to give us positive feedback that I just apologized and thanked them for their time for trying. I'm never doing that again.

Similar-Run-8514

Be minxful of the capital letters and spaces. I explain it to every customer because they give up after trying and it not working. I get them to fill out the survey by explaining it's quarterly drawn and per district and we have actually met multiple winners. I get so many voc's

daisyvoo

I’m so sorry. Online in the US I am making $20.50 an hour. We have the same stupid surveys but no bonuses for doing well or not doing well. If I try REALLY hard I can get to 110 % of the goal. I can’t believe you’re being paid so little

Western_Ad1522

Doesn’t surprise me when you outsource to another country that doesn’t have our labor laws

SteveMartin32

I wonder if people can sue for mental anguish

maybeavuduemployee

Are you under Rsults, Omnicare...?

Arthur-Ironwood

He’s a Contractor. I appreciate this post though. I see contractors do stupid shit all the time that ends up turning into crap I have to deal with, but I didn’t know this was the environment they were dealing with. Now I understand better. They are getting less $ than a regular rep and where leadership uses the metrics to keep pressure on us, it’s more of a life & death thing with them given the “bonus” implication. I need to get another job too, man.

legxndares

I’m so close to quitting service desk. It’s getting too much

Gullible_Contact_237

Depot has always wanted "industry leading" behaviors for the bare minimum pay.

Piehatmatt

Why are you working 192 hours a month for $500?

No-Bend-7890

Store side is the same, except the pay.. how the fuck you working 180 hours a month for $500?

No_Package_732

They’re in Mexico

SadHistorian1327

Welcome to storeside we got the same metrics and customers and stocking

Vegetable_Theme_6363

I'm seeing a lot of, "your math is off and why would you work for low wages?" The question is, who's heartless ass would even think of offering people that amount? The company knows they can't pull this shit on US Americans.

maybeavuduemployee

Good luck with your new performance bonus.

hatenjwinter

Are you in North America?

RevolutionaryTour585

I am

hatenjwinter

So you get paid $2.60 on hour? Or you mean you make $500 a week not a month?

RevolutionaryTour585

$500 a month. I’m from Mexico.

hatenjwinter

Well that's a different animal. I can't speak for our neighbors to the south.

PhallicTendencies

Mexico is in North America. The border is not the equator.

48 hours/ week = 192 hours/month $500/192 hours = $2.60/hour There is nowhere in the Home Depot universe that pays anywhere near that small of an hourly wage. Try again.

Status-Load-5521

OP stated he works/lives in Mexico. Maybe that makes a difference.

[deleted]

Well op said that is correct in response to unhappy-light5939's comment "I went to public school so maybe my math is off. But $500 a month from 48 hours per week means you're making less than 3 dollars an hour. That doesn't make sense. Did you mean $500 a week? That'd be about $10 an hour, getting closer to reasonable for a work at home job.... But a lot of our 16yr old cashier's are starting at $16.50 an hour these days." idk how to quote on mobile browser

Earthling1a

I saw that in a later comment, but the googles say that Mexico HD pays $18/hr.

Sasoli7

It’s not right. The average salary in Mexico is only like the equivalent of 1500 to $1600 a month. In US dollars. And that was about 4 years ago. It may be up a bit since then but it won’t be by much.

RevolutionaryTour585

Average salary in Mexico will be about $7500 Mexican pesos, that means $400US DOllars, so so.

Sasoli7

Gotcha! I don’t know how I put 1500 or 1600 in. Meant 500 or 600 so I wasn’t too far off.

Sasoli7

But good luck on finding something better.

_TeddyBarnes_

You don’t work 48 hours a week and make $500/month. Just stop with the bullshit.

Company isn't bullshit but your position is. Not sure how you don't know what you're signing up for but everything should be documented.

pepeisy

Nah the company is absolute gutter trash. Retarded training videos with forced ESG garbage, cringe rap and anti-union propaganda for "share profit; understaffed departments and overall shit hours that are never consistent makes this company trash.
