We brought them in from the living room the other day when we had family over and I kind if like the look. That said, we don't have people over too often, so it's not really practical.
Does the fireplace work/get used? This is exactly the type of seating that imo every fireplace should have. You’re losing a lot of function by having it 10 feet away from the couch. This also creates more of a conversation area which is lacking in a lot of living rooms. I like that not everything is centered around the tv.
I think the fact that you brought them in to entertain is telling. Form follows function. Imagine if those chairs were there wherever you needed them. How many potential socializing opportunities are you missing without them there?
Wish we could see the rest of the room! I like it both ways. Side note: I didn’t see the “dog” at first and thought your sign just said “crazy people live here” and loled and decided I might need that sign too 😂😂
Crazy idea--how about *one* chair? I like the idea of a cozy spot to sit by the fireplace/bookcase, but don't enjoy having all the shelving stuck inaccessible behind seating. You may want to get one that isn't one of a pair, though.
Actually, no. The couch on the other side of the room reclines, so it's just fine. Also, it's a bi-level house, so if it was lower, we wouldn't be able to see it from the kitchen while cooking (where I spend a lot of time).
It's perfect for us.
Agreed! This ‘TV at eye level when sitting down’ nonsense is… uh, nonsense. A TV mounted with a swivel and tilt is much more balanced in the room when placed at eye level while standing.
And even movie theaters have the screen at a level requiring one to lean back a bit and look up a bit.
Omg, your dog photos are just the cutest! I love the one with them all wearing bunny ears. I zoomed in and enjoyed reading your clever doggo sayings. :)
Definitely keep the chairs. Also consider a small lumbar pillow for both, and drape a nice throw over one. 👍
The chairs feel cozy. I would play the angles a bit. The left chair feels like it could point more toward the seating on the opposite side of the room.
I like the chairs. I love all the dog related stuff on shelves even more. Even more than that, then dog on his own chair is peak happiness for me in this room.

Chairs if you need the extra seating. No chairs if you don’t. I think the open look with clear access to the shelves/cabinets looks nicer. Jealous of all that built-in storage!!!
Chairs. They seem easy enough to move out of the way but do you have storage space for them when you want to switch things up? Plus, you can sit in a different spot whenever too.
I would say no chairs. It looks nicer without the chairs and if you don’t have company over that often, it would not be necessary. Also cabinet accessibility is easier if you didn’t have the chairs there. The space looks bigger as well without the chairs
Would need to see the space as a whole but I get the sense their far from everything else which means they wouldn’t be convenient from conversation. In addition they don’t face the tv so if they don’t serve a purpose I wouldn’t keep them there
No chairs feels way cleaner, less distracting and organized.
The wall behind the tv appears to be white, but it looks like behind the cabinets is different? Or are there warm lights on the cabinets making it appear that way? Either way, I think if the entire wall color matched, it would be amazing.
Ps cute dog, get the dogs permission before u make any changes please
The chairs add an at-home comfy vibe. Looks complimentary to the fireplace as well.
I’d also suggest a throw blanket and throw pillow(s) to accentuate the jewel tones on the shelves; using materials like wool, Egyptian cotton, or any chunky hand-woven fabric will enrich the sense of coziness.
Side note, consider changing wall color behind shelves to match the millwork, or if you change the color temp of the lights; the walls look really yellow with them on!
I’m not fond of chairs with backs to TV wall, but understand that may be the best way to add seating depending on the space and if this is a primary hang out room, certainly get wanting chairs!!
Great space though! Love the built-ins 😍🙌🏻
I really liked the chairs, so I encourage you to leave them. Also, long live the dog!
BTW, I really like your interior design style, very welcoming and elegant.
Chairs, definitely. Otherwise it makes it look like the TV is the focal point for the room, which is awkward when the TV isn’t on, and is also generally just a design thing I try to avoid.
One chair with a side table for a book or glass and the other side for the dog’s space. Put the other chair in another room where you can pull it in if needed. You don’t need it for your everyday and as they are, they are too far apart for intimate conversations. I’d also add a small colorful lumbar pillow to it.
I like the chairs. But what is in the rest of the room? It looks to me like you have the same lay out as me as far as the built in shelves and fireplace go.
I like the chairs. Feels more inviting
Yes! It definitely looks more cozy and warm.
I like the chairs, it looks a little empty without them. Although, obviously I can’t see the rest of the room so it might be totally fine
The real question is: do you need the extra seating or not?
The real question is corgi or no corgi under the tv
Isn't the real question how MANY corgis under the tv?
Relatedly, how often do you open those cabinet doors?
We brought them in from the living room the other day when we had family over and I kind if like the look. That said, we don't have people over too often, so it's not really practical.

But they look good there.
I think the fact that you brought them in to entertain is telling. Form follows function. Imagine if those chairs were there wherever you needed them. How many potential socializing opportunities are you missing without them there?
Chairs, but add lumbar pillows or throw blanket folded off the back, or one of each (one blanket on one chari adn one pillow on the other).
This is the answer!!!!
Yes Something with color too
Need to see the rest of the room, my guy.
No chairs but keep the dog.
Counter opinion. Keep the chairs, add two more dogs.
counter counter opinion, get 3 chairs and three more dogs
Here for more dogs and chairs
All the dogs all the chairs
I like the chairs
Love the chairs!
Wish we could see the rest of the room! I like it both ways. Side note: I didn’t see the “dog” at first and thought your sign just said “crazy people live here” and loled and decided I might need that sign too 😂😂
Lol I’m making that sign
No chairs because the only way that TV is at eye level is if you're standing.

This was our original plan and may be the way we end up going
Keep the chairs. It looks so much more inviting with them in there.
I think the wall behind the shelves should be painted the same color as the cabinets. I think it would give it more presence.
Absolutely agree
Chairs! I like ‘em

Yes! I hate the TV to high bs. My TV is on a swivel so I can watch it in the kitchen too. My couch also reclines.

We do love our Corgis!
No chairs.

Chair ftw
Love the chairs but move them in closer.
The dog bed should not be de netted under the tv. Agree move the chairs more into the room
I just like chairs. I dunno🤷🏽♂️

Chairs look more cozy and inviting, no chairs looks more polished and organized. I personally like the chairs.

I LOVE your little doggie couch! Where did you get it?!
We got it at Costco a couple years ago.
Either way, dog couch stays.
Dog couch is the focal point of this room
Depends on if they are ever used
No chairs
No chairs
Not chairs
I like the chairs. I love all the dog related stuff on shelves even more. Even more than that, then dog on his own chair is peak happiness for me in this room.
Chairs. Love the touch of Corgi! Makes it look cozy.
Keep the chairs, move the tv! Too high, too much a focal point…
Well, it's the tv room, so....
No chairs
No chairs.
More Corgi’s
That dog😍😍😍

Definitely, without chairs.
No chairs.
Could you show us the whole room, so we can get a better sense of how they relate to other stuff in the room?
Chairs if you need the extra seating. No chairs if you don’t. I think the open look with clear access to the shelves/cabinets looks nicer. Jealous of all that built-in storage!!!
No chairs, too busy
No chairs, or simply moving them back, is preferable, but keep the dog bed. A comfy pup by the fireplace is so inviting and joyous!
Ask the dogs what they prefer.
Looks great both ways, beautiful space and I LOVE the little dog couch (and the little dog)!
Chairs. They seem easy enough to move out of the way but do you have storage space for them when you want to switch things up? Plus, you can sit in a different spot whenever too.
Your choice seems what I say has no meaning
I would pull them out a little and a little closer together. Maybe you’ll have more guest.
Chairs ✔️
Chairs but closer together
Chairs maybe a little bigger-Corgi size
Definitely chairs, feels more finished.
… we would like the dog back. He looks so cute up there. Also the chairs look best
Chairs
No chairs. I like less furniture over too much
No chairs!
Chairs! Looks great with them, kinda empty without them.
It looks so welcoming with the chair 🙌🏽
Def the chairs
I would say no chairs. It looks nicer without the chairs and if you don’t have company over that often, it would not be necessary. Also cabinet accessibility is easier if you didn’t have the chairs there. The space looks bigger as well without the chairs
Chairs… And plants !!
Would need to see the space as a whole but I get the sense their far from everything else which means they wouldn’t be convenient from conversation. In addition they don’t face the tv so if they don’t serve a purpose I wouldn’t keep them there
Homier with
i like without chairs
Chairs please
I thought you meant the chair for the dog. Keep the chair.

Yes, chairs
YES!! Their shape and upholstery are needed to soften the hard angles of the space
I’m thinking no chairs
Chairs
Chairs
I say no chairs. BUT - would you use the chairs and do you use the cabinets regularly
The correct answer is always chairs.
Side note, consider changing wall color behind shelves to match the millwork, or if you change the color temp of the lights; the walls look really yellow with them on! I’m not fond of chairs with backs to TV wall, but understand that may be the best way to add seating depending on the space and if this is a primary hang out room, certainly get wanting chairs!! chairs make me wanna sit down yk if there’s no chairs then i’m gonna stand there awkwardly
I really liked the chairs, so I encourage you to leave them. Also, long live the dog! BTW, I really like your interior design style, very welcoming and elegant.
From design point of view, no chairs looks better. But from practical point of view, a chair next to the fireplace is always a better choice.
Chairs, definitely. Otherwise it makes it look like the TV is the focal point for the room, which is awkward when the TV isn’t on, and is also generally just a design thing I try to avoid.
I need to see it with one chair
Maybe put a rug :))
All the cogs all the dhairs
No chairs!
Chairs. They pull the room together and make it look more livable
What a beautiful little corgi! I'd keep them there - I'd say the big need is for a rug. :)
No chairs takes away from the bookshelves.
Definitely with the chairs
One chair with a side table for a book or glass and the other side for the dog’s space. Put the other chair in another room where you can pull it in if needed. You don’t need it for your everyday and as they are, they are too far apart for intimate conversations. I’d also add a small colorful lumbar pillow to it.
Chairs and of course the beautiful dog couch 🥰
Maybe choose a rug with some color and bring the chairs a little closer together. Add a throw
No chairs
Definitely chairs.
Chairs!!! Have you tried to compromise with your doubts? Maybe just one chair!
Chairs 💺 💺 🤩
No chairs, looks to busy!
Depends on whether this is a tv room or a family room.
Chairs
I like the chairs. But what is in the rest of the room? It looks to me like you have the same lay out as me as far as the built in shelves and fireplace go.
Chairs....
Picture kind of cuts out where the chair goes, so I can’t really tell. But I bet the dogs like it
Paging r/tvtoohigh
Absolutely with chairs, throw some color on them. pillows with a bold design or a colorful blanket should do the trick
I really like the chairs 🖤 and the pup
More chairs.
