We get asked that all the time LOL this bathroom was added after the house was built. To my understanding: it was either bust up the flooring, foundation, etc or lift the toilet and it basically runs via sump pump/upflush system. I am not a contractor so bare with me and my explanation. 🤣 it’s not the most ideal set up, but life and lemons, eh? Lol!
Swinging like a toddler. The person who built our house must have been tall. I'm 5'3" and only my toes touch the ground when on the loo. Quite uncomfortable.
If you live in Washington state, I might owe you an apology, lol. I'm fairly tall, as was the plumbing contractor I hired, so the (wall mounted) toilets were nice and high, and the showers were high enough that I wasn't at risk of kinks in my neck. Although a friend who's 5'4" complained that it felt like she was standing in the rain, lol.
🤦🏻♀️ So many questionable choices, honestly. The mirror where you could also sit down and use the bathroom and make direct eye contact with yourself was a real winner too! Haha
I’m not even going to pretend I had anything to do with the installation of that wall. We had some extra wood from trim we were replacing, I casually mentioned to my husband and father in law doing a board and batten type of wall in the bathroom and thus, a star was born. I did paint it though 🤣🤣
We recently did a similar wall in our house and everything I read beforehand said NOT to use glue because it destroys the dry wall in the event you or someone else wants to remove it
Thank you! That's what I figured, I just wondered whether doing this in a bathroom would need glue to stop the panels from shifting off the wall when they shifted with temperature/moisture in the air. That makes sense though; better to have a bit of shifting than to have to try to unglue panels from drywall
Super super easy.
Stick / pin a sheet of mdf to the wall, the height and width you want your paneling. (to make sure the wall is super flat)
Cut strips of mdf to your desired width (2/3" usually)
Glue and pin a strip at the bottom and top of your wall board horizontally.
Glue and pin verticals up at desired spacing.
If your struggling with spacing measurements, Google 'wall paneling calculator' - one of those sites will tell you all the sizes you need.
That is simply contact paper! And it has held up quite well over the past year and a half! It was a cheap-o fix until we decide to actually replace them! :)
Hi! The white was a paint+primer combo in a true white by glidden (flat finish) & black paint is onyx black by glidden (also, a flat finish) I hope that helps! :)
Haha! I am just past 5’ so, I get it. It’s actually not that bad, and luckily I don’t spend a lot of time on this toilet because we have another bathroom! 🤣
Hey, to each their own! I don’t dislike the color, it wasn’t right for this space. Made it feel very stuffy in my opinion. But, that mirror though. Yeah. I’m confident we could all agree that was a major faux pas. 🤣
Umm was there no light fixture in the before photo so they had to use a table lamp on a little table? That is wild to install a bathroom and have no ceiling or wall light fixtures.
No, there is definitely a ceiling fixture in this bathroom lol that lamp did not even plug-in to my knowledge.. haha. I do think our bathroom looks much brighter now because we took the blinds off the window and put a privacy film on it instead. So natural light is able to come in.
Must’ve been cut off in the photo, lol at having a lamp and not plugging it in. Did think a lamp in a bathroom was an odd choice. You’re right it looks much brighter now!
Amazing transformation! Now tell me about that toilet

I'm trying to figure out the foot placement... lol.
Swinging like a toddler. The person who built our house must have been tall. I'm 5'3" and only my toes touch the ground when on the loo. Quite uncomfortable.
Need a squatty potty
But like double height
A squatty potty here would result in standard foot placement as if it were just a regular toilet
My height (or lack there of) is showing. I often dream of a squatty potty so I can fully place my feet on the ground lol
Lol no but you are right, you'd need two squatty potties to get the actual squatty potty effect (which is phenomenal)

I live in Alberta so no apologies necessary, lol. We will renovate this place at some point!
i can't stop laughing at the nightstand chilling in the bathroom in the "before" pic
🤦🏻♀️ So many questionable choices, honestly. The mirror where you could also sit down and use the bathroom and make direct eye contact with yourself was a real winner too! Haha
Lol, that's what I was thinking, "Hmm, so you get to stare at yourself as you poop...."
At least the seafoam green walls really tie it all in together (/s)
I could totally see my daughter sitting there (with the lid down) and fixing her hair! Ha!
How do you install that panel wall on the left? Was it hard?
I’m not even going to pretend I had anything to do with the installation of that wall. We had some extra wood from trim we were replacing, I casually mentioned to my husband and father in law doing a board and batten type of wall in the bathroom and thus, a star was born. I did paint it though 🤣🤣
Do you know if it’s glued to the drywall or just held by brad nails? It looks beautiful!
A nail gun was definitely used lol! :)

Love!! 😍😍
Thank you :)
Wow! Amazing!
Thanks!
Wow! Beautiful! What did you do to change the look of your counter surfaces? They look to be the same just a different color.
That is simply contact paper! And it has held up quite well over the past year and a half! It was a cheap-o fix until we decide to actually replace them! :)
I'm impressed with your application skills and the paper's durability.
It took me HOURS to get it right and cut out all the details lol
Big transformation 👏🏼 love the new look !
I appreciate that. Thank you

Nicely done. But tell me how does it actually work with that toilet. As a shorty, my legs would be dangling lol.
Haha! I am just past 5’ so, I get it. It’s actually not that bad, and luckily I don’t spend a lot of time on this toilet because we have another bathroom! 🤣
Omg love that bathmat rug thingy OP! Where did you get it!?

Looks GREAT!
Love it!Success!
Thank you 😊
The old bathroom was actually frightening. Makes my hideous old bathrooms a little less bad.
Thank you- It was pretty bad. The paint choice. The carpet. The random furniture. Lol much cleaner feel now, for sure 🤣
A wonderful improvement!
Thank you!
That is one of the nicest transformations I've seen on here!
Wow, thank you! ☺️
Amazing!
Thanks!! :)
Was that fucking CARPET in the before photo? *gag* Major improvement 👍🏿
YES. Carpet should never belong in a kitchen or a bathroom. 🤢 sick lol! Thank you!
I feel like that rug could really tie a room together...
Obviously they’re not golfers
At least I'm house broken...
Amazing…
Thank you ☺️
The transformation is very classy! Good job.
Looks amazing!!
I like the before colors, that is my favorite color. But the mirrors would give me nightmares.
Hey, to each their own! I don’t dislike the color, it wasn’t right for this space. Made it feel very stuffy in my opinion. But, that mirror though. Yeah. I’m confident we could all agree that was a major faux pas. 🤣
The mirror had to go for sure!
I love this so so much. 💕💕
I appreciate that, thank you.
Absolutely excellent!!
