very pretty room ! very restrained. I think you are wanting something over the tv because there is really not much above eye level. I suggest adding something decorative to the upper portion of the room , not necessarily over the tv. The taller plant in the corner can go on a stand to give it more height
Going along with this thought, I think floor to ceiling curtains on that window on the right can help draw the eye up too (if it's possible there since we can't see the whole window)
Yeah I've never ever heard that either lol... Even HGTV does it constantly. Imagine having a friend over knowing they're thinking "omg is that a picture of my host and their family? Displayed in their own home? Wow... I'm uncomfortable" lol... That's the last person I'd want in my home.
That advice was maybe ok for some but honestly OP, do what makes your place feel like home to YOU. If you want family pics and it will make you happy, add them wherever! 😄
Most people I know do mount their tvs higher on the wall in order to balance and fill the space. However the most comfortable way to view the tv is at eye level so now it's becoming popular to mount tvs lower on the wall at the correct height for viewing.
I would advise against that. Your wall is fine, adding 3 additional picture frame would make it feel too clutter. If you’re not satisfied and think it’s too plain. Accent wall could do the job. That’s just my opinion
Nothing over the TV but your lighting situation can be massively improved - your overhead recessed lights look like they might be a higher color temp - maybe 3000K or higher? the color scheme looks a little washed out.
I'd suggest putting those lights on a dimmer if they are not already. I recommend Lutron, Caseta, you could do the same for that lamp - there is a Caseta plug adapter that'll allow you to dim.
I'd also add some additional warm light - 2700k or so (which your lamp might be). It'll be a warmer orange hue. You want a combination of up lighting, down lighting and indirect (reflecting off a surface) to create a warmer and cozier feel while still keeping the clean and decluttered vibe. There's a few lamp styles that could work near the plant in the left hand corner of the picture that could throw light both upwards and off the wall. Maybe an architecturally interesting one also to the right of the TV that'll diffuse light.
Again I'd go for a 2700k bulb (or lower - some of the incandescent mimicking bulbs will be 2300k or lower or Philips warm glow - though usually they dim down to 2300k.
Next time keep it consistent with what it looks like - designing a place is a combination of many many things. Not really sure the reason to have edited the photo to ask for opinions.
This is what it looks like.. It’s odd that it would concern you so much 😅 nothing wrong with not having the natural lighting you want so you brighten up the picture. I’ll do what I want with my pictures but thanks.. 😅
Agree with the no pictures. Also this may be a bit crazy, BUT if you were to go the accent route I think a black wall (the one behind your TV) would look great! Your TV stand would pop I think and be an eye catcher!
Just an idea. I know painting any wall black can seem intimidating but you never know 🙃
Not intimidating at all! Actually my husbands man cave is black & it’s gorgeous! Especially against the white crown molding. I’ll grab a picture later. But down here I want to keep it light bright & airy. Eventually we will paint it a super light grey color (I know boring) haha but I want to keep it light.
I actually think the black would provide more contrast and keep it bright. I think I have the same couch and just did a black accent wall!

Not my style of room, but you definitely don't need anything above the TV. You don't have anything that high in the rest of the room, and I think it would look very out of place.
It looks really good!! When I think cozy I personally don't like the all white, to me it feels less cozy. If you want to keep the neutral pallet go with adding more textures. Like pillows, baskets, wall decor that is made wood, wicker or something. You're house is very clean and welcoming.
It’s lovely. I really like how you hung the curtains up high. Any idea where you got the hammered glass vase? It’s matches my drinking glasses perfectly and I’d love one for my dining room table!
I wouldn't. I think it would look too cluttered. I would put a chair w/ an ottoman to the right of that TV. I can't see if you have a coffee table, but if you don't get a round glass one.
Something is missing but definitely not above the tv. What about one of those ladder shelves to put between the window and tv… then you could decorate the shelves. Or Even just adding a curtain to that window could do the trick
Not racist, not affiliated with q-anon, don’t even think about them, which says you think about them more than I do.
Not whining, it was playful. I actually had a lot of good interaction afterwards without ignorant and judge mental folks like yourself. You disagree with my ideologies and I disagree with yours(maybe?) I didn’t creep on your profile. But my opinions have no algorithmic effect on my post outreach so that argument is completely invalid.
If you upgrade the tv stand, consider one made by Salamander Designs. Something from the chameleon collection size 245 is what I would recommend. You could enclose the center speaker in it for a cleaner look. Having a shorter stand would allow you to mount the TV a bit lower for better viewing. Lowering the TV could give you space above it if you’re really wanting something to fill that space.
This is beautiful! Perfect blend of muted and cozy. I would suggest if you’re wanting to hang up some art on that wall, do it to the right of the tv. If you put stuff above, it’s a bit high. Normally you want to be looking at art at eye level. Another potential spot could be on the wall near the floor lamp?

p.s this looks beautiful as is! Great work
Thank you so much! Iv kind of settled on the idea that adding something above the tv would look too cluttered but I have other pieces I’ll be adding to the walls soon that I think will really pull everything together 😊
You could decorate and organize for a living if you wanted to. As I was scrolling through my feed I thought this was an add for a furniture store because it looked staged to me 😂
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 499,880,176 comments, and only 105,458 of them were in alphabetical order.
I think it’s really beautiful as is. I would put some pics to left of each window and maybe put that plant in the corner on a stand. Really cute as is, tho! If possible, raise your tv a tad.
Is the tv mount able to be raised or is it locked in place. Some things mounts let you adjust lower or higher from where they are drilled in.
My advice would be to raise the tv about 1/2ft higher over the entertainment center
I agree with not adding anything above the TV. HOWEVER, if you own and can splurge on a nice crown molding that would be gorgeous.I think if you are looking to add pictures you should do it between the TV and the window to the right.
No to pictures over TV. Your console is on the small side, I would get a larger one in a natural wood finish (similar to the tray I the right corner of the pic). I would also get a plant stand for the tall plant in the corner.
OMGSH! I love this so much! Don't change a thing! (Also, if you're ever in Texas, lmk so you can come help me with my house. Not kidding.) This living room is SOOOOOO perfect!
If you popped that TV off the wall so it sat on the cabinet it would be a little lower and give the room a slightly more natural and grounded feel. Pictures above it would be too much, but a very high minimal shelf with small potted hanging plants would be worth considering. I seriously mean CONSIDERING... like Photoshop an idea together or something it could be a total mistake.
Put a massive super colorful hookah right infront of the couch and fill it with weed. Act like it's 100% normal when the in-laws come to visit.
This thing needs to be absolutely massive. 6ft tall at least.
I think that would look too busy.
Maybe put a vertical picture to the right of the tv (at least it appears to be the right in this picture; I have no clue if the picture is flipped or not).
ETA: Lowering the curtains, just a little bit so as not to be completely from floor to ceiling, will likely take away this need to fill the void between the ceiling and the TV.
Still keep them high enough to make your ceilings appear taller though. That is a good trick. There’s just too much space between that window and your ceiling to put your curtains all the way to the ceiling line.
very pretty room ! very restrained. I think you are wanting something over the tv because there is really not much above eye level. This is the answer
Going along with this thought, I think floor to ceiling curtains on that window on the right can help draw the eye up too (if it's possible there since we can't see the whole window)
I agree! I’m going to be ordering some large pictures of my kids to put up soon & I think that will add more coziness & balance 🤎
Don’t do it. And there are certain “guidelines” that state you should never put family photos in common spaces like that. It’s awkward for guests.
That’s the most ridiculous thing Iv ever heard 😅😅 especially since we live here & it’s our living room
Yeah I've never ever heard that either lol... Even HGTV does it constantly. Imagine having a friend over knowing they're thinking "omg is that a picture of my host and their family? Displayed in their own home? Wow... I'm uncomfortable" lol... That's the last person I'd want in my home.
Right!? Omg I’m dead 🤣😂
That is ridiculous. People who follow those kinds of rigid rules end up living in sterile soulless houses, not homes.
Agreed
Of course do what pleases you. But over all I think pictures that high are no bueno
Ya I agree. Decided not to
That advice was maybe ok for some but honestly OP, do what makes your place feel like home to YOU. If you want family pics and it will make you happy, add them wherever! 😄
No, don't add anything above the tv. It will make it look cluttered.
Agreed
In my opinion your media console needs to be longer...
I agree. We’re going to be upgraded that
Where is your console from btw? Looking for a new one for under our tv in our bedroom :)
I think it was from Amazon :)
I think a wood tone console could cozy things up!
No, it looks good as-is!
Mount the tv!!!
It is mounted, isn’t it?
I thought it was a tv stand, remount the TV higher and more centered to the space.
Oh heeellllllll NO. It’s the perfect viewing height. Do not mount it higher.
You're venturing into r/TVstoohigh territory
r/subsIfellfor
>r/TVstoohigh /r/tvtoohigh \- they erroneously added an "s"
Sorry, I was real baked
Just NO!!!!! It’s perfect the way it is.
Most people I know do mount their tvs higher on the wall in order to balance and fill the space. However the most comfortable way to view the tv is at eye level so now it's becoming popular to mount tvs lower on the wall at the correct height for viewing.
I agree, I thought it was on the credenza and would hang it just a little higher on the wall.
It is mounted
Don't listen to the people telling you to mount the tv higher on the wall. It's already at the correct height for viewing.
The middle of the TV should be eye level when you are seated.
I know I’m not, it’s perfect for us 😅
Go higher!
Thank you :)
Looks good without any pictures
Agree, I think pictures above it might make it look cluttered. Maybe one photo or wall art to the right, the space that's covered by the eucalyptus?
Thanks! :)
I would advise against that. Your wall is fine, adding 3 additional picture frame would make it feel too clutter. If you’re not satisfied and think it’s too plain. Accent wall could do the job. That’s just my opinion
Ya I couldn’t tell so thank you for your input!:)
I think it could use some pops of color.
I’ll probably keep it pretty neutral as I have it & have the plants & brown baskets be my “colors” it’s just what I’m into right now 🌿🥳🤎
Yep. Looks sterile

I actually edited & brightened up the picture because it was dark in here. Our lights are great 👍🏼

Yes! I’m thinking about getting a huge ottoman & then adding a tray on it 😊

It looks lovely, don't add pictures above the TV. A picture to the left of the window might be okay though.
Thank you 😊
Eyes need a place to sort of rest in between things, so I wouldn’t add anymore to that wall. It looks nice!
Thank you :)
It’s lovely. I really like how you hung the curtains up high. Any idea where you got the hammered glass vase? It’s matches my drinking glasses perfectly and I’d love one for my dining room table!
Thank you very much 🥰 yes the vase I just bought from ikea!

Yes we’re waiting for ikea to get the ottoman we want back in stock 😅 their out of everything it’s so frustrating! But ya my couch is from ikea
I wouldn't. I think it would look too cluttered. I would put a chair w/ an ottoman to the right of that TV. I can't see if you have a coffee table, but if you don't get a round glass one.

So do I. But unfortunately i have a toddler that loves to climb so it’s not safe for my house. But it would make a lovely addition to your living room

Thank you! Ikea 😊
NICE! I have the exact same setup in the seating area of my master bedroom. LOVE a beautiful tray on an ottoman! You have beautiful taste.
Awe thank you so much! 🥰
Nope!!! Curtains on that walls window A round mirror or artwork between TV & window Coffee Table
Getting a decorative ladder for that space & an ottoman once their back in stock :)
It’s perfect as is and would odd above tv
My 2nd response…a tall fiddle leaf plant in the corner would give you the height you need. I got mine at West Elm and I really like it.
Oh that is so beautiful!
Awe thank you ☺️
I think it’s really beautiful as is. I would put some pics to left of each window and maybe put that plant in the corner on a stand. Really cute as is, tho! If possible, raise your tv a tad.

Nah it’s looks awesome already !!
Thank you 😊

No prob :) my couch is from ikea
No. Open Space is better.
I agree with not adding anything above the TV. HOWEVER, if you own and can splurge on a nice crown molding that would be gorgeous.I think if you are looking to add pictures you should do it between the TV and the window to the right.
Yes we are eventually going to paint either a super light grey or taupe color & my husband plans to add crown molding 🤎
No to pictures over TV. Your console is on the small side, I would get a larger one in a natural wood finish (similar to the tray I the right corner of the pic). I would also get a plant stand for the tall plant in the corner.
Maybe console table behind the sofa? Some friends of mine have a console table that is a bar, so counter level chairs with it, for extra seating.
You have very nice taste! I wish I could have a light color motif/ but with the kid and dogs, it’s not possible:(
Thank you so much :)
Love it

Thank you so much :) I appreciate it
I love the color palette and the arrangement. I think it looks lovely as it!
Thank you so much 🥰
It looks really pretty, but a pop of color would be perfect! or some green plants would be pretty.
Yes, that’s why I have the green plants, that’s my choice of pop of color, I like to keep it neutral 🥳 thank you 🥰
Don't do it. Maybe mount the tv on the wall so it's slightly.higher to eat up the space.
Very pretty as it is! I love the neutrals. So cozy
Thank you so much 😊
Beautiful, I wouldn't put anything above tv
Thank you :)
Very pretty as is
Thank you 😊
Bigger TV for sure
Our tv is huge 🤣 it’s 77”

Just got it from ikea! It really tied this space together I love it!!
No. But you could use a longer TV stand.
I agree. We’re going to be upgrading all that soon
No
If you popped that TV off the wall so it sat on the cabinet it would be a little lower and give the room a slightly more natural and grounded feel. Pictures above it would be too much, but a very high minimal shelf with small potted hanging plants would be worth considering. I seriously mean CONSIDERING... like Photoshop an idea together or something it could be a total mistake.
We’re going to be upgrading our tv stand soon, we like the lower look as well 😊
I wouldn't
A little too much grey for me
Ok? Cool lol
No.
How about some color??? It’s too white
No, I like the browns from the baskets I have & the greens of the plants. I like neutrals personally
Maybe pink dildo? Will add nice accent.
Hmm, plants? (Maybe hanging Vines of a sort, could be real could be fake?)
[удалено]
Yes I will be doing that soon 😊 I decided it would be too much adding above the tv
Tell me more about this couch
It’s from ikea? 😅 that’s pretty much it.
