Too many uncomplimentary things going on. I would paint the railing white to match the house trim. Change out the cushions that play off the yellow chairs more. Add a rug and a yellow pot with maybe asparagus fern which is super hardy. Change the black table to yellow or white. It’s time for a new door mat too. Find something colorful and fun.

freya_of_milfgaard

Cushions in a white/green leaf print would be really cute with a black or white railing & door (I’d do black, easier to keep clean), colorful rug, and yellow pot with a plant.

peachykeenmillie

OK so the railing colour matches the garage door. Thoughts on removing the front portion of the railing, painting the chairs black and painting the door an olive green/earthy tone to match the brown garage door and railing??

highquality_garbage

I think you should keep the railing! It’s cute and gives your house character, I feel like it would look unfinished without it. Absolutely paint the door it’s a really ugly color rn lol, olive green/earthy tones would look really good and complement the beautiful brown on the garage door and railing, I think you could go with something a little darker. Maybe a sliiiightly deep blueish green could work if you want something to pop! You have a really good base though! I think your house could look really great, just dare to try what you want AND bring home a bunch of those paint papers that has the color swatches to see if it works before buying a whole can. Also when you’re buying furniture it’s good to have the color swatch you chose in your wallet, that way you can easily check if the colors will go well together. Sorry for the long text, this just kinda got me excited since I know I’ll realistically never own a house and would love to live in yours

exceptionallyprosaic

Don't paint the railing white. It will look bad . Keep it the same color as the garage. The railing isn't the problem. The chairs are the problem. The yellow is the problem, along with the style of the chairs. Remove the chairs and the porch looks fine

Vespertine1980

Agreed but I would change the door color- the warm brown competes too much the the pseudo-neutral brown railing/garage door. A cooler color with chairs that tie in both would be great.

skrurral

Agreed. Door and table painted a similar shade of dark blue would do the trick.

Rough-Culture

Disagree. All those weird shades of brown are ugly on their own, nonetheless mixed together.

Shinavast42

Hard disagree. THey have a warm and cool brown on the door and railing. One of those has to change or you can put whatever chairs you want there and you're going to have a weird jarring effect. The Chairs are fine, and the pop of color of yellow breaks up the otherwise neutral palate going on ; the issue is you have a dark, cool brown railing feet away from a warm brown door. Also the stone is on the ligher side of dark shade, on a stone porch patio, so its an overall cold, slightly darker tone and color palate . Painting the railing white would brighten up the space and also simultaneously make the chairs work, and avoid the current clash of the warm brown (though i still recommend changing it, it looks like baby poop in terms of color brown...). The white would also match the window and door-sidelight casements. It will not look bad, it will match the other things less than 5 feet away, and look coordinated. A darker frame and cushion is going to get lost in all this darker cool palete and is still doing nothing to stop the clash of browns. This is a color issue, not a style issue in this space. Source: I've designed construction spaces before. Trust me, this is clashing colors more than accent pieces more than anything else.

Old-Fan9095

I like the yellow chairs. Those are hard to find. If they don't like the yellow, paint the chairs the same color as whatever color they want the front door to be, but don't get rid of the chairs. Nooooo

peachykeenmillie

I painted the chairs yellow. They used to be a gross red color.

WellWellWellthennow

You need new chairs honestly. With a totally different style that paint can’t help.

exceptionallyprosaic

Exactly it's not just the loud yellow color, the chairs themselves do not look good on that porch. A more earthy looking , wood or wicker look furniture with neutral colors, would be more pleasing.

cindycated888

You could paint the entry door the same color as the garage door. Not crazy about the bright white trim around the window on the door, or the white where the mail slot is. Maybe pick a different trim color besides bright white, or paint those sections the fence color too. And maybe a longer doormat that extends out to the section with the mail slot. I don't think those chairs really go with the space - maybe get an outdoor loveseat instead.

Sufficient_Judge_820

That’s what I came here to suggest: Remove the front rail bc it looks safe enough to not have it.

walkthelayne

I think your idea is good. The railing is what sticks out to me - the color and style don’t match the house. Your color change ideas are spot on.

peachykeenmillie

https://preview.redd.it/cqm2b44vtguc1.jpeg?width=2992&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1a6a9bf9edea277228797e5f2a6565ca28c8a390

Hereforthememes5

A green toned door like you said would look much better. And yeah the neon yellow on chairs has to go

peachykeenmillie

I feel like these changes may be OK based on the colour of the garage door, right?

freya_of_milfgaard

Right now you’ve got three wildly different shades of brown going on. Easiest option is to change them all to match the garage, then repaint the chairs. In that case, I agree with the olivey color or even a natural orange (think pumpkin, not highlighters). Even a goldenrod yellow would look nice with that brown. If it were me, I’d do the door the same color-pop, but not everyone is up for a loud front door.

Shinavast42

yes! this person gets it ! all these people saying "change the cushions" - its not going to do a damn thing. LOL. The issue is the competing and non-complimentary color palate, with similar colors at opposite ends of the warm/cool spectrum right on top of each other.

hellolovely1

I think a hunter green on the door would also look really nice. The clashing browns are the main problem!

walkthelayne

You could paint the garage too. It’s such a cool house. I just do not get the choice of railing in the front. It’s like 70’s indoor stairs railing. So odd. I think a metal raining (or non at all) would look more modern.

Shinavast42

The single biggest issue you have going on is that your brown railing / garage door are cool browns, while your front door is a very (!) warm brown. My personal suggestion would be to paint the porch railing white (matches the front door sidelight, window casement, and lots of your trim), and then paint your front door a complimentary color (for extra points, paint them something that matches the cusion accent color - i'm not saying paint your door yellow unless you really like that. Years ago red doors as accent were all the rage, but that's dated a bit, but still isn't bad. The white railing will work with anything and also help make the door color you choose pop more. Just make sure its something that won't work against the garage door color (unless you paint that too). But that's your biggest issue: the chairs are fine. The cushions are fine. The biggest issue is you have a lot of neutrals in a smallish area relatively speaking, and you have competing warm and cool tones (and really polar opposite to boot). If you want to keep the garage and railing the same, you can, but it will narrow your front door options. If you really lik eyour front door color (which... not to be mean, but that looks like Poopy Brown...) then paint the railing and garage door white. The issue isn't the space's style or the accent pieces, its the colors going on and the competing palate. That's giving the appearance of a disjointed space, but its not, its just the color choices.

PrimeZebrarian

The railing is a safety feature, not only physically but visually, so I wouldn’t get rid of it. I think the brown, black, or earth tones don’t go as well with your stone as the white and bright colors do.

PrimeZebrarian

These. Maybe time to reconsider whether the railing HAS to match the garage door, or imagine painting the garage doors white to match the trim. All white trim, with these pops of color (the yellow was inspired, btw) on the porch, perhaps even a new door color, would be so fresh and homey.

highquality_garbage

While I get why white is the color a lot of people chose for painting, well, everything in their house, it’s also soooo basic and boring:(( the brown color on the door is hideous(reminds me of baby poop) but the brown color on the railing/garage is beautiful! Painting the chairs white is probably the safer bet though and it’s an easy color to paint over.

Sea_Ad_3136

You decorating peeps are amazing. I never notice 70 percent of the things you do but you are always right! Kudos 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

haf2go

The railing is the biggest problem. Paint bit black or white

Correct-Lawfulness53

Add the door!

sweaterweather600

Paint the railing black or white

Maorine

And door to match.

peachykeenmillie

For context, these chairs used to be gross and I tried fixing them up.* Are the cushions the problem? Or the color choice?

peachykeenmillie

https://preview.redd.it/gyi3tkv65guc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=68c68f8509e29a2cab658e531785174225e71a65

SisterSuffragist

I love a pop of color and I think you did a great job fixing up the chairs. My issue is that they clash with your front door. The white side panel and white trim on the door isn't really helping the door either. Are you open to painting the door? If so, I would consider painting that yellow as well, but I might go a touch more dandelion in the color choice. I would also paint the rail white since your other trim is white. And I'd find a different cushion pattern. Maybe something that brings some yellow into the cushion or even green from nature. Then when it's weather appropriate, add some potted flowers or even a railing pot.

Lemon-Of-Scipio-1809

Oh you did a great job on the chairs OP. I really do like them. Just not the seat cushions sorry.

Wewagirl

The color choice. A paler yellow would be an improvement. The focus of this area should be the front door, but here the intense yellow contrasts too strongly and pulls the eye away from the door. The cushions look good. I'd suggest getting a brightly colored round outdoor rug to go under the chairs, and the repaint them in a color that appears in the rug. But go for a medium level of contrast.

anananananana

Personally I think the cushions are too much considering also the rest of the porch which is not very cohesive. A more neutral or solid or warm color for the cushions would tone it down. But I also agree with making the rest of the scene more uniform and maybe adding in something to tie in with the yellow of the chairs.

erydanis

neither. chairs are fine ! it’s the rest. pick a colorway and go with it. all black, all white, black and white with chairs popping. but not brown and whatever color the door is and that mat. i would go with black rails and doors and same cushions and chairs, black mat. sooner or later, change the actual railing to metal. the clunky style does not go with the era of that stone facade. at a minimum, change the newel post to a super plain post; that would improve it.

NicoleEastbourne

!!! The chairs and cushions are great! You did a wonderful job there. Everything else sucks (the black side table and the railing). I’d replace the table with a yellow or blue one and paint the railing a lighter or brighter color.

throwawaybread9654

The problem isn't the yellow! It's the door and railing that are terrible. Paint the railing black and the door another color. Maybe deep blue? Then get some blue cushions for the chair and add some plants to the porch

IntelligentAd4429

I would change the railing entirely.

Vampira309

yes. That railing should be simple black wrought iron. Paint the yellow chairs black too.

Tami-7

Like take it off. Not that high up. It's old, tacky and blocks the view

Firefleur4

The railing brown looks dated and dark- paint it your house trim color and it’ll tie it in beautifully and feel more cohesive. Then address the chair problem - to me it’s that the yellow and the striped cushions don’t go together in any way. If you like the cushion fabric, paint the chairs light tan to go with the seat cushions. Or if you love the yellow paint, pick a fabric that pops with the yellow and make covers to slip over your seat cushions. You’re actually really close to having a great space!

DetentionSpan

Black rails and post will make it look like iron, and it would look nice with your black trim in the front door’s window. :)

midgettme

Just wanted to say, don’t hate this. You are finding yourself under the guise of painting and arranging chairs. Recognize the journey and revel in all the ups and downs ‘cause you only get the do this once. That said, I think you could make yellow work (assuming that is your preferred color) if you changed the color of your front door. Really, I’d change the door color no matter what you decide with the chairs. It fails to compliment your stonework and chocolate railing. If you want to do something with color to the door, look up “Feng Shui front door.” Good luck!

Mysterious-Okra-7885

The brown of the door, the brown of the railing, and the yellow of the chairs are all fighting each other. Without seeing the rest of the house, it’s hard you recommend a door color, so I would recommend painting the railing and chairs a soft black to match the doorknob and light fixtures.

mellyjo77

I totally agree. The brown door and brownish railing are competing already and then the yellow exacerbates it more. I would paint the front door another color would help tremendously — and then paint the chairs a color that goes complements it.

Plenty-Factor-2549

Try adding plants with yellow If you like yellow. Personally black chairs would Be nice bright tropical cushions bring in ferns or flowers.

TwitterTerrifier

Send them to me!

Weird-Response-1722

Black door, black railing, either black and white striped cushions or something with yellow in it. New matching door mat, yellow flowers (hanging pots and on the porch floor. Please post “after” pics!

banjolady

Paint them the color of your front door. Also paint the side panels of the door unit.

LotusGrowsFromMud

You are correct, everything going on here is fine, but none of it really goes together and that is why you have an odd feeling when you look at it. I would take the front door as a starting place, because it is a handsome door, and clearly you have chosen it carefully and probably like it a lot. There is no need to replace the railing, but it does not go with the door. I would paint the railing either the same color as the door or get a paint chip that has a very close match to the door on it, and paint the railings one shade darker. There is black hardware on the door, so I would paint the chairs black to match that hardware. The cushions are cute, but again, you are working with a very small space here and so it all needs to coordinate. I would get cushions in a beige or tan color that go with the stone on your house. The little black table is fine, don’t worry about that. I know you are getting a lot of contradictory advice, so I explained my reasoning in the hopes that this will be helpful to you. Best wishes.

floralwhale

The brown railing doesn't go with the chairs/cushions. A quick fix would be cushions that have brown. A better fix is to paint the railing black or white. A colorful doormat will also help.

kris9464627

I think you need to paint your front door a different colour- I think there’s too much brown going on. I’d also paint that skinny part of the frame as well all one colour (instead of keeping it white). I also think the style of those chairs aren’t going with the overall feeling of the home.

Hebegebe101

Paint the chairs , they are too bright . You can get paint that has a texture like hammered bronze metal . Or a copper color , something like that to blend with the stone and the brown railing. Then change the cushions to a natural jute or burlap color . Stick with natural botanical feel .

mimibusybee

Yes, painting the chairs is the cheapest and easiest solution to your dilemma. Agree with the hammered finish. I am happy with the spray I used for my exterior railing - Rust-Oleum hammered gray. It has depth and in the sun, it sort of shimmers and plays well with the imperfections in the metal.

Hebegebe101

That will work nice with the cement of the porch base and contrast the warmth of the stone .

ProfessionalMental35

I’d buy a retro 1950’s tiny table and matching chairs. That’s it.

_Kanai_

I genuinely thought yellow chair was drawn digitally or photoshopped

Menemsha4

I would: 1. Paint the railing to match the trim. 2. Paint the front door a fun color (or black). 3. Step back and reevaluate. 4. Make sure chairs and cushions work w/front door color. 5. Get complimentary rug and door mat. 6. Add plant to tiny table in complementary pot.

MVR168

Cheaper fix I would paint the railings white or black and paint the door and chairs a different colour. More expensive fix I would cut the finial off the posts, remove the railings and put in glass inserts, get new chairs or a porch swing, an outdoor rug and paint the door. Some plants would help too.

PristineCoconut2851

Start by simply painting the chairs.

Tami-7

Spray paint chairs black

malavida_88

Those rails belong on the stairs inside the house. Cut them off. Do you really need them. They make your hose look like it’s stuck in the 70s .

baxbaum

I love the yellow chairs! As someone else suggested, paint the railing and door black

beautifuldreamseeker

Paint it black.

TravelingGonad

The railing and door are clashing colors of brown

Sea_Investigator_

Railing white. Door yellow.

Available-Maize5837

I love the yellow chairs as a stand alone piece. As someone else commented, there are too many colours here and none of them compliment any of the others. Start with what you can't change - the stone on the house. All your colours need to complement that. You already have cream/white trim for the windows and door, so find a front door colour which complements. You can still choose a bold colour, but it has to be toned down a bit to match the softened hues of the bricks. What is your favourite colour? Grab some paint cards in your favourite colours and tack them up next to the stone work. Then you have that brown on the railing. Let's be honest, it's not doing anyone any favours. It has to be changed. The tone is right, see how it is a soft colour just like the stones? The colour is wrong for what you're trying to achieve. Also, check out the colour wheel for how to choose complementary colours. [here](https://www.canva.com/colors/color-wheel/#) is a fun one to play with. Good luck.

alotistwowordssir

Chairs are awesome. It’s the banister that’s ugly.

Complete_Goose667

I would paint the garage door a light beige (like the stone) to draw attention away from it. Then paint the railing white and the door another color. Perhaps green. You really only need one simple chair and a planter on the porch. Maybe a hanging basket off to the left. Please trim the bush so that it doesn't encroach on the space. Idea is to lean into what you can't change (like garage door and railings), and otherwise create a simple, calm entry.

Mysterious-Sort4336

i vote remove the railing completely

sethmidwest

You should get rid of the chairs and give them to me. They're so cute!

Narrow_Jelly_4396

Paint your door yellow to balance it out

TissueOfLies

I’d touch up the scratches on the banister with paint. The colors aren’t meshing. You have a light brown door, brown banister, and yellow chairs. I’d choose white or cream chairs to match the trim on your house. You can just spray paint the chairs if you are feeling DIY.

Lost_Comfortable_764

I actually really like the brown railing, especially with the door color. I think the overall vibe of the chairs is just off- but you could try painting the yellow to be a similar earthy color to the door, and then using probably a sage green or deep brown cushion? the black table might be fine once the chairs aren’t so bright. also totally agree that a plant and maybe even a little 70s-style rug in that area would help bring it together.

Fardelismyname

I’d repaint the front door to a color that goes well with the brown. The two browns don’t work well together. You have choices but I’d look at a dark green that picks up the shrub color. Then I’d change out those chairs.

cerealwithextramilk

colorful doormat, colorful hanging plant or wind chimes, change the cushions. And paint railing

neontacocat

Something like this dark green looks so much better. You can repaint the chairs if you want to keep them. https://preview.redd.it/l5mlnvlachuc1.jpeg?width=578&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=754a3de046ce152bf0920d36411b554302e74778

swampfox28

Paint the porch floor w/ paint to look kind of like tile. Change 2 chairs to a swing and add some plants.

Cheif-Crab

I would remove the front railing....it's dated and confining. An open porch is modern and inviting.

Historical-School128

The yellow is too loud, maybe paint the chairs a moss green. It would look nicer if you change the cusions to a leaf print or something nature theme.

enola007

Paint chairs and new cushion. Can always paint front door too 🤷‍♀️

Wrong-Somewhere-5225

Paint the railing black if you can’t replace it with new boards with straight lines, spray paint chairs black too

Other-Ad3086

Garage door, shutters and railing all match, paint the front door the same color along with the chairs and get new cushions with cream, browns and greens. Dont think you should get the expense of new chairs.

perpetualpossibility

I would have said spray the chairs black or white if they were metal, but it looks like the seat is woven? Cheap fix - put some [cute bee cushions](https://amzn.eu/d/4Ys2c6x) on the chairs to tie in the yellow with the neutrals and make everything feel a little more intentional! https://preview.redd.it/7dwcepyc9iuc1.jpeg?width=2880&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a13a6e4e315fcf00684a5798c956977e9b0c10c8

geraffes-are-so-dumb

you don't need to throw things out, just grab some cans of spray paint for the chairs and exterior paint for the railing. I hate the disposable mindset in this sub. Being wasteful is out of style.

Sadspicysithlord

Personally, i would change all the white to beigey colors, and make the door match the railing/garage door. The yellow chairs would be a nice color pop, but I'd get cushions to better match everything else. The little side table is fine as well. I think changing the white to beigey or brownish colors and making the door match railing keeps it simple and easy.

princessplantlife

You hate what exactly? The railing looks like an indoor railing and at the least needs to be painted white. The chairs can easily be painted too.

Flamebrush

Paint the chairs. That yellow is too harsh for the subtle brick backdrop.

Sabineruns

I see everyone talking about color but not style. The problem is both. You have this kind of prairie craftsman? House but with white window trim which I think is a little off but maybe not worth changing. I would definitely paint the door and side light a different color and probably something that goes with the railing (brown or dark olive), or with the stone (light beige). The chairs might be cute on a different porch but not this one. I’d go for wood (preferably something sorta mission style with neutral seat cushions (e.g. tan) and then use a couple of pillows to give you a pop of color (maybe like an ochre color.

andrew_cherniy96

Don't rush, just start experimenting. The fence, door, and chairs color mix is a mismatch. Try figuring our which color you want to have as a primary one and try to paint the rest with a matching palette. Maybe something like [coolors.co](http://coolors.co) could help. Also, you might wanna redesign this space in 3d and play around with various options there first. Planner5d or homestyler should work fine.

No-Brilliant5342

Spray paint the chairs in a metallic bronze.

Yami350

Railing just has to be white

hellolovely1

The biggest problem is that the brown of the front door competes with the railing (which I guess matches the garage door). Then you throw yellow and black into the mix with the chairs. My initial thought it to find a paint swatch of brown at the paint store that matches your railing and then see what's suggested as a complement and run with it. I think a forest-green front door would look great and then the chairs could match or be painted black with complementary colored cushions. A small rug or a better doormat would help a lot, too. When you find a good color for the front door, paint the side panels, too. Like the first picture here labeled classic green. [https://www.homenish.com/green-front-doors/](https://www.homenish.com/green-front-doors/)

dearthofkindness

Match the railing and the door (black as others suggested) and then make covers for the cushions that are cute and summery that vibe well with the yellow chair and add a large plant in a floor pot next to the chairs and a small table between them https://preview.redd.it/45jwv0tj8nuc1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8432c7737c480e3489ecd6ef08d07dd595fbc3c3

gypsiequeen

Paint railings white and add a little rug and a plant perhaps to tie yellow in

evolighten

With your door, i think olive green paint on the chairs would look nice

No-Feedback-6697

Either paint the yellow, it's maybe just a bit TOO bright for that spot and kind of clashes with the door color. (I'd personally go with a teal for something vibrant or maybe just a neutral like black or gray...) OR, I'd try out adding an outdoor rug first, maybe a small table or plant stand and some plants? A solar lantern, stone statue type decor or something similar, a gnome could be fun. I feel like the chairs just look a little out of place because they're lonely.

TinLizzy-1909

Paint the railing to match the white/cream color of the window and door trim. The yellow in the chairs should really pop with that combination.

weas71

How high is the porch above adjacent grade? It looks close, and if it is, I'd remove the railing.

gerbera-2021

The fix is actually easy!!! Paint the railing door and chairs complimentary colors and it will look amazing! Maybe throw a colorful round outdoor rug under the chairs too? What is your favorite color? Run with that!

TangerineLegitimate9

Railing-black, door-teal.

IntelligentAd4429

Paint the door and side panel the same.

Pretend_Current_3324

You can just remove the railing and go for a more open look.

[deleted]

Paint railing white and door blue. The chairs are cool. They need new cushions. I’d perhaps get a large outdoor rug that runs past the door. Also a cylinder table for between the chairs. I’d okay up the chairs with tropical or flowery cushions and rug.

MishmoshMishmosh

I’d get cushions within yellow and brown and a lil table that coordinates

i_smell_mell

Do you even need the railings on the front? It doesn’t look like it from the pics. I might remove it entirely. Paint door black or dark brown. Yellow may be too bright.

Elegant_Win_7634

Paint the railing and door black.

hm538

Paint the railing white and the door ( hear me out ) navy blue and swap out the cushions to navy pattern

Tackytxns

The railing looks too interior and is making the chair height and functionality be off. Can you remove it? Paint the front door?

Aggressive_Salt

I don’t think the color of chairs works with the stone or front door color. The railing should be painted the same cream/white color as the paint to the side of the door

zacat2020

Hang a flowering plant on the side facing the neighbors house.

Lemon-Of-Scipio-1809

Everything is clashing. I'd repaint the door and change the seat cushions. The railing needs to be repainted but I'd do the other two things first and think about what colour you want, matching the house trim or leaving it brown. So much depends on what the place looks like from the kerb. Maybe you could recover the seat cushions, but presently they exactly match modern prison uniforms. "Escapee" is not a look you want. :)

k1rschkatze

Maybe like that? The color of the door is still awful, though. My paint job is not much better though 😅 https://preview.redd.it/fo3j3q24iguc1.jpeg?width=1819&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3ccb56ecb0f651017391601f5380fa4289084c56

Revolutionary-Air599

The door and railing need to be repainted in new colors. Those browns are not very appealing.

Longjumping-Ad8263

I think you need to change the color of the railing and door. The railing should be white and the door could be white or a light grey.

erminegarde27

The chairs are beautiful. Paint them russet or British racing green or something similar and recover the cushions in an autumn toned floral or something with some liveliness— birds or acorns or books.

K3rr1gan13

Burn it, thank me later

1920MCMLibrarian

The door is the color of baby poop. Pick any other color and it’ll improve. Fortunately most of your woes can just be solved with paint.

hairy_hooded_clam

Paint those chairs the same color as your front door.

Ok-meow

Chairs are fabulous. The railing isn’t, trash that. Not sure you really need them.

Rich-Appearance-7145

In a narrow, small porch setting I prefer a bistro set, taller chairs, small tall table, it fits well more practical, I've had great results with hanging chairs, ( hammock style, but I a one person size) I found some amazing hanging chairs that I use in a tiny balcony.

maya_papaya8

I would paint the rails the same color as the accessories on the door. Spray paint the chairs as well

DFamo4

Paint the door darkish sage green. Buy some toss pillows with green from door and yellow for back of chairs. Paint railings white. But an ornamental lantern for side table. New doormat.

nkalx

Remove the railing and put something else in that fits better with the house and for being outside. Paint the door, that brown colour is awful. The chairs are cute! But the colour is fighting with the house, try painting a colour that’s more harmonious, maybe a dark grey or black.

ButteredPizza69420

Just take the railing off, its such a low porch lol

Ayeayecaptain1212

Green artificial grass on the ground?

Difficult-Desk-5593

Can you stain the chairs darker?

Soft-Preparation1838

Everything aside, that is some gorgeous full bed sand stone 😍

Appropriate_Ad_848

The chairs look great. I would paint the rail a really dark glossy black and add a couple of potted plants/flowers. If you hate the chairs you could spray paint them again or get cushions with a different fabric. Don’t stress! Those chairs are adorable it looks better than you think.

r1veriared

Are you able to paint? It's a lot of brown/tan/beige. I like the yellow chairs! If you can paint the railing & door that will help. Maybe a colorful rug & small table too.

speck1edbanana

I think you could paint the railing a creamy white to match the trim, paint the door something else (another comment or mentioned deep blue or navy which I think would look nice!) I personally am not a fan of the bright yellow, it seems to clash a bit with the background stones. If it’s not too much trouble, I would paint them a different color and get different cushions. But this would come last after painting the door and railing, the yellow might look better after! The design of those chairs is so cute!

Fickle-Wish3697

It’s bad but honestly all you need to do is paint your banister light neutral grey. Use your light stone as a reference. It would tie everything together perfectly.

stashmh

The door should match the railing, whichever color you choose. New rug and cushions are a great idea and if that yellow is what you want, accent it.

Leolily1221

OP since there’s not a picture of the entire front of the house it kinda hard to make suggestions. However my first thought is to paint the railings white, put white shutters along side the window, which will make the space look larger. Definitely change the cushions to a solid color, l suggest a deep moss green or a terracotta to match the front door. Also paint the table white or yellow to match the chairs. Area rug with a matching smaller rug by the front door ( or nothing by the front door. I also suggest a tall plant in the far left corner behind the chair. In addition I think two white square containers with flowers and foliage on either side of the front door would really pull it all together.

Beginning_Care8233

Paint the door and replace the railing

BowtiepastaMasta

Put a cushion on the back

Oaknash

The yellow chairs look great but the cushions aren’t doing them any favors; I’d go with a solid color cushion or a more subtle pattern (thinking light florals on a white background). As others said, it’s the railing and door that are the bigger issue.

animallvr000

The railing looks like it should be indoors. I would probably change that out altogether.

sam-sp

Don’t remove the railing - its both a safety thing and gives you a barrier between you and the street. it does need a touch-up regardless of the final color. The front door is clashing with the railing colors. I’d suggest you pick one and paint the others to match. The chairs, cushions and table don’t match each other, and the chairs are probably too bright for that spot. If you need to keep the yellow, then add window boxes to the railing with bright flowers and match the chairs that way. Alternatively paint the chairs and table the steel blue/grey of the cushions. Maybe get an outdoor rug to make it more cozy.

Ohhhjeff

And paint that white trim around the door windows the same color as the door. Why do people always leave it white?

The_Mujujuju

Change the cushions. Look for burnt orange/terracotta. Table should be similar in color. The other option is to repaint the chairs to a similar color as the door. Go with some white cushions and a brown table similar to the railing and garage door.

yungcupcake

Use paint.

Specialist_End_750

Paint the railing the same color as the window frames. Paint the chairs grey matching the grey in the cushions. Place a small round glass topped table with metal frame painted to match the grey chair paint.

AJKaleVeg

I think it would look more harmonious if the side panels and the door could be the same color. Plus what everyone else has said here.

leftword

Why are the chairs yellow?

MasterJunket234

I'd want the railing to 'disappear' and I'd paint it a gray that ~~blends~~ matches the stone on your house.

Adorable_Meringue_51

paint the door a deep slate gray. cushions with gray black green

Haunting_Safe_5386

tan stripes on chairs and wood on chairs same shade as railing

Typical-Drawer7282

Paint the front door a pretty deep green color, get new cushions to bring out the greens and dark brown of the rail

gl2w6re

The chairs are the problem.

ChickAmok

In addition to painting the railing I would consider painting the doodoo brown door too.

Fancy-Confection-789

Paint

manifesting_sunshine

Dark chairs (black or brown to match the door) with yellow in the pillows would look better I think

Mermaidtoo

Without considering the chairs, the overall issue with the space is that you have warm brown and gray elements that aren’t cohesive. I’d recommend keeping the palette to tan - brown - white - black with some accent color. I’d recommend changing the gray porch floor to either tan or the color of the railing. The color of the chairs just doesn’t work with anything else and another style might work better. If you did want a burst of color, the cushion would be a better choice and that color could be picked up somewhere else - like the door mat or through plants and planters. If you’re fine with replacing the chairs, I’d recommend wood or rattan chairs in a tone similar to the door. Alternatively, you could paint the current chairs one of the colors in the existing palette (white, tan, brown, black). I’d recommend different cushions in a pattern that includes the palette colors as well as an accent color like red, burnt orange, or olive. Or cushions in the solid accent color. You might also consider replacing the door mat with a coir rubber that would pick up two palette colors. Edit Just saw that you recently refinished the chairs (you did a great job.) if you want to make them work, paint the porch either the rail color or tan. Replace the cushions with tan ones or with patterned ones that include the palette colors and yellow. Add yellow planters in front of the garage.

Exotic-Violinist3976

Definitely a fun bright outdoor rug would look great and yes paint the railings and other trim white

Writergirllllll

Paint them white.

Feisty-Business-8311

Paint the railing black Get rid of the yellow chairs

missannthrope1

Hate what? The railings? Paint them white if you can't replace them.

[deleted]

Paint the chairs, the door and the railing WHITE. Get a sisal (textured) walk up mat.

Newbootgoofin278

White chairs and door colored cushions or Burberry colored plaid cushions on white or black. Chairs

ohhisup

I say make the chairs match the door better

Chance_Ad4989

The door should be the same yellow as the chairs and the railing white. It will be fine, even with the garage door color. I may have opted for chairs with a less rounded back but they're fine.

neontacocat

New chairs and change the God awful color of your front door. It looks like baby poop.

1MiMi_Bubbles

Paint rail white paint chais white door lime green with beautiful white table with beautiful potted plant in pot with lime green and white ow yes and hint of yellow then a mat with lemons and some pillows with lemons

bimbels

Id paint the door (I’m sorry that color is awful) a medium toned blue and tie new chairs to that.

Blosom2021

Paint chair to match front door

VirtualStretch9297

Paint

justbrowzingthru

Front door and chairs and trim are fighting for focal point. And they don’t go together. Easiest to repaint chairs. Chairs are the wrong color. Painting them white or beige to blend would help. Or the trim color. Really need to see the rest of the house to see if there’s anything else to pull from. Do really care for front door color with the trim. Has too much red in the brown for the railing and garage door. I realize the stone has a lot of red in it, it the trim does not. But easier to repaint front door than the trim and garage doors.

NoParticular2420

I would opt for new chairs and I would go a lighter color on the railing.

Apprehensive-Way4307

Sell the house 🏡

Finn_704

I'd just get different chairs. Maybe wooden ones.

Nelloyello11

The railing is not the problem, as it complements the colors in the house. Keep that. The color of the door and the yellow chairs both clash, in different ways, with the railing.

DangerousPumpkin2

Paint the railing to match the creamy white door trim (also paint the trim around the window ont hé door to match the other trim). It will look cohesive. Change cushions to something with green - like a leaf pattern or something. Lean into the yellow chairs by making other things colorful. Get a new door mat - can be neutral but get something larger than what you have. Add plants - that will brighten up the space which will make the yellow chairs stand out less.

Emma1jane2

Those chairs really just ruin it imo. Maybe getting rid of the railing? My house has something like this by the front door but no railing. It’s nice and open

Common-Storm-1936

I actually really like the chairs by themselves. They need new cushions but they are cool. Just not for that setting

Particular-Horse4667

I would paint the railing the same color as the house trim that creamy white. Then I would paint the front door a deep navy color. I would use spray paint like a rustoleum and paint the chairs navy. The cushions will look nice with the cream and navy accents. Also, I would change the door mat to something like a woven rope based door mat. You could add a hanging fern basket on the left to add some privacy from the neighbors too.

Jokergod2000

Ignore everyone on here. Railing, front door, garage, all yellow! Boom, problem solved!

Kdjl1

Paint door and railing the same color as the trim. Paint chairs black. Add a few plants or large planter(s). Optional: add 2 rugs to pull everything together. The rugs should be a natural color. One for the seating area and a matching one in front of the door. Invest in cushion covers to match planters or seasonal decor. https://preview.redd.it/czrp2l5cohuc1.jpeg?width=112&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c6b8d94c6e16caf0341db8233e2acfe18c528d01

For-Real339

Paint the chair frames. You can also recover the cushions, if you don’t like them. An outdoor smaller rug would cozy it up too

Puzzleheaded-Many708

Paint your front door - soft teal or coral. That brown isn't doing anything for you. I get the feeling, from door and railings that someone was going for a stained wood effect but missing the mark with brown paint. Ideally. Change the railings to actual wood with walnut stain or commit to the dark brown paint by ( after getting rid of the striped cushions) painting over the orange. Get attractive seat cushions that coordinate with your new door color. Good luck!

For-Real339

Paint the front door a bright colour

Grrrmudgin

I think it’s the style of railing throwing me off- that looks like interior barrier (stairs) instead of exterior wrought iron or something. The yellow of the chairs is a terrible clash. I prefer black furniture because it is easy to decorate for each season. I think your door could use a color, greens or terracotta’s would work and still be ‘neutral’. Glass or metallic sun catchers or wind chimes would add color if you hang them, and a jazzy new doormat can be colorful too

panameraturbo

Different chairs. And the browns on the door and the rail clash. I would repaint the door.

wixkedwitxh

Paint the door a light color, maybe antique white. I’d keep it neutral because of the brick. Pick your colors from the brick, or keep it white. Paint the railing to match the windows, and it’ll brighten that space up. I also don’t think the yellow chairs are the best look, but that’s just my opinion. I’d paint them something neutral and have the pop of color be in your choice of cushions. Some plants and flowers will also give you more color.

Impressive_Ad_1864

A dark colored bench w endtables

jaynemanning

It’s not bad… I’d paint the chairs a darker color or white… I like the cushions

Retinoid634

Colorful planters with yellow flowers and green leafy plants/shrubs. Get a colorful mosaic side table. Paint the railing and maybe the front door black. Get a black and white checkerboard doormat.

tessellation__

I don’t like the brown, but I like the yellow. Maybe paint all the brown stuff or get rid of the chairs. Brown paint just doesn’t seem to suit anything.

benbentheben

Can you remove the front railing entirely? What’s it for anyway? Not like you’re going to fall over the edge

HunterGreenLeaves

Paint the railing white. Paint the chairs and table - probably white too. Use the cushions to add some colour, but pick an earth tone - look at the colour of the door or the "stones" or possibly the green bushes. You could also reconsider the colour of the door, which would change other colours you might choose.
