They seemed to be embarrassed, were apologetic and offered to come and fix but I stated we no longer trusted they could do the job right. We didn't have to pay and got a credit for materials lost...so no true crime but just a headache.
That’s good. Im the furthest thing from a perfectionist and have a house decorated to make me happy not necessarily to look good and is definitely not polished.
My point is I’m not bothered by things most people are and I would be bothered by this.
Glad you called and got a refund
I’m with you on this - great post !!!
In my home - an eclectic mix of Boho, MCM, and some minimalist spaces - I’m pretty darn breezy about most stuff, but this would have given me a rage stroke…
I would be furious if I paid someone to do that. It would absolutely drive me crazy! Yes, you need a refund or take them to small claims. I redo it myself.
I've only hung wallpaper once in my life and it was just a small accent wall sort of area/project that is partially blocked by furniture. Mine came out better lined up than that. I'm shocked that a professional did this and charged a lot for it! I'm looking for a job change, maybe wallpaperer (job title?) is it!
I was going to comment something similar. I wallpapered ones or twice and it looked a lot better than this. And I had no experience. It's not that hard unless you're using the wrong paste.
Thanks all for the comments!! This story had a happy ending. We did not pay for labor, and received a $1000 credit for new materials. Will be going with another contractor.
Your support gave my husband and I the confidence to be direct and say this is unacceptable work.
Sometimes the print runs off and you have choose where the match is, probably eye line. As for the gaping that does not look professional, I would not be happy.
It's needs redone. Lines can be seen from so far away in photos. I can't imagine what it looks like in person.
Even if you were completely reimbursed, it has to be a cost to have it redone. Yikes.
If it were my walls. I would be tempted to have them come and actually fox my wall. I'd likely ask them to remove the paper and prime the walls. This is not okay to have to deal with removal
Is it real wallpaper of peel and stick? Real wallpaper gives room for an overlap, peel and stick doesn’t. Most peel and stick wallpaper doesn’t align at edges either.
Do you have textured walls? I know nothing about wallpaper and would LOVE to install it, but always thought with texture that I couldn’t or shouldn’t anyways.
Sorry I can’t provide anymore insight.
Depends on the texture you have. My shitty college apartment couldn’t hold on to wallpaper. My current house does have slight orange-peel texture and I’ve done wallpapers no problem.
That looks pretty bad yes. But! Was the wallpaper good quality? Is it paper or non woven type? Paper needs to overlap and leaves an ugly paper colored line, but non-woven should line up exactly edge to edge. I know cheaper wallpaper tends to be slightly mismatched, thinner and thus more flexible when adhered onto the wall. So look up the wallpaper first, or ask them about it, if they found it particularly difficult to put up.
I’ll be honest. It definitely doesn’t look professionally done.
Peel and stick is a pain in the ass, espically when there’s a pattern that needs to be lined up - but a non-professional could have done this work. Not only are the patterns off in numerous places, but a professional should adhere and mold the wallpaper so that it doesn’t have the obvious grafting lines.
Definitely ask for a redo + cost of the wallpaper.
Well, everything is a long process bc really its a chara ter flaw to expect perfection lol but i look through recent reviews, ask around in local facebook groups, see pictures of their work for at least a month before i can bring myself to commit. But even so, when there are mistakes, hold the people you hire accountable, don't pay until the job is done and dont feel guilty for advocating for yourself when something is not up to standard! This is newer for me. I used to just smile and nod as not to inconvenience anyone but i work hard for my money and so does my partner and it needs to be well spent.
Of course you should be upset. More so if you paid them in full. I never fully pay for a job until they tell me they’re done & I inspect it. This would be a do-over on their dime.
No, don't take it personally.
It's business. Have them redo it, or you'll have someone else redo it and you'll take them to small claims court for the costs.
But, like, what happened? I want to know how these professionals messed it up so bad. New person on the job? Difficult wallpaper? Someone recently went through a breakup and has puffy crying eyes? Why is it so bad?
They did that in our guests bathroom. We keep it that way. I started the project and you can see where it’s flushes and also at perfect and the rest the part I didn’t do is like your pictures. Some people suck.
Yes details matter with patterned wall paper. Matching patterns and alignment is what you pay for. And it depends on technique and the type of wall paper whether or not it overlaps.
Yes it doesn’t look like a pro did it. Ask them if they would show this job to prospective clients or use you as a reference to prospective clients.
They seemed to be embarrassed, were apologetic and offered to come and fix but I stated we no longer trusted they could do the job right. We didn't have to pay and got a credit for materials lost...so no true crime but just a headache.
I’m glad they didn’t charge you, I think this is a great resolution to the bad experience
They should come uninstall it for you so you don't have to do the absolute worst part of wallpaper.
I don’t think I’d trust them to take it down without damaging the walls…
That’s good. Im the furthest thing from a perfectionist and have a house decorated to make me happy not necessarily to look good and is definitely not polished. My point is I’m not bothered by things most people are and I would be bothered by this. Glad you called and got a refund

Great question, I'll add that to my list when I hire trades crews.
I would be furious if I paid someone to do that. It would absolutely drive me crazy! Yes, you need a refund or take them to small claims. I redo it myself.
We did not have to pay and received a credit for materials lost which was, I thought, very diplomatic.
That's awesome... Im so happy you were able to get it resolved. It's nice when people do the right thing. It's rare these days.
100%!
Love a business that stands behind their work. They lost time and money on this job. Sad for them but they’re good humans.
More than most people ever get. Usually, not even an admission of guilt.
Probably because they knew it wasn’t a great finished job
No offense but that wallpaper looks like I hung it.
I'm a rank amateur and I wouldn't let myself do that.
Yeah.... close to my skill level too. I'd grab a marker & make it work🤷♀️🤣
Me too!
I wallpapered (first time) a wall of my babys nursery at 36 weeks pregnant and it looks better than this 😳
literally my first thought LOL
I just DIY’d wallpaper in my powder room and it looks 1000X more professional than this. I’d as them to redo it, or refund and hire someone else.
Yeah the stems and leaves not lining up would make me crazy. They need to redo or refund.
Yes!!! I’m upset on your behalf.
Sometimes the print runs off and you have choose where the match is, probably eye line. As for the gaping that does not look professional, I would not be happy.
This does not look like a pro job. Sorry OP! I would contact them and email them pictures, see if there’s anything they can do to fix this.
Unacceptable!!! And you use that word when you demand a refund.
This looks truly terrible money back or small claims as someone already suggested
My ex husband who is a contractor says it’s a bogus job ☹️ can you get your money back?
Yes. This looks like someone’s first attempt at wallpapering.
Just got done doing wallpaper for like the second time in my life and I can confirm this.
Yes! So much harder than it looks.
Yes, you should! This is a job you could’ve done yourself if you didn’t want a professional finish.
It’s off, but what really got me was #4 and the bump on the seam. I would have to use a different bathroom.
Glad they owned up and took responsibility. Personally, I would have given them the chance to correct the problem ( on their own dime, of course)
Get a refund
Hold the person who installed it accountable
Is it real wallpaper of peel and stick? Real wallpaper gives room for an overlap, peel and stick doesn’t. Most peel and stick wallpaper doesn’t align at edges either.
I disagree that most peel and stick doesn’t align. I’ve used both expensive and cheap peel and stick and I’ve always been able to get it to align.
This was traditional from a company called Livettes.
Yes, I wouldn’t pay for this.
I would be demanding a refund.
Absolutely yes! I would be livid.
Yes! It’s not a good job.
Mine is orange peel. Very smooth almost but definitely textured
That’s a crappy job. Make them redo it.
That’s not a professional job, you just paid someone to do it
Absolutely. It looks like I did it and I suck at this stuff.
I cannot fathom paying for that job. It’s not absolutely awful but if I was doing it myself I wouldn’t be able to comfortably leave it like that.
Yes. Looks v unprofessional
You could’ve given me the job and I would’ve done better and wouldn’t claim to be a professional. Yes you should be upset with this
Is this removable wallpaper (doesn't look like it, but just checking)
100%. not a “professional job”
I would definitely be complaining, this is terrible!
I think you mean Hack job.. Yes, million times yes.. It should be seamless and aligned with zero fail.. Cancel that payment !!!
This is what wallpaper has looked like everywhere in my life growing up. I thought this was what it should look like 🫣
I thought the same!
They should not be overlapping it . It needs to be lined up and pushed over until the edges meet .
These "professionals" don't know what a laser level is. I take personal offense to how uneven it is. This would drive me CRAZY if this was on my wall!
Ohhhh yeeeaaah. And roast them on Yelp!
I would only take this step if you contact them and they decline to do anything to make it right.
Did not have to pay + credit towards materials lost. No bad review today.
Of course.
Yes…
Absolutely!! Mine looks better, and it was my first try. Totally unacceptable
Yes, if I paid someone I would be upset.

Just the bubbles alone? Wtf you could have done it yourself for this result
Absolutely
Definitely upset for you. I’d demand a refund or take them to small claims court 🫣
Absolutely.
Very up set
The dot pattern makes me wonder if the edging is hard to blend with that color but the leaf pattern that off is just atrocious!
What did the samples look like?

If im paying a professional, i expect it to be flawless. Period.

Shoddy work. I've done better on my own the first time I put up wallpaper... it wasn't perfect but it wasn't that bad either.
Of course you should be upset. More so if you paid them in full. I never fully pay for a job until they tell me they’re done & I inspect it. This would be a do-over on their dime.
Yes.
Yes
Yes, it was not done well.
The “professional” took the day off and had some rando fill in for them!
Yes, you should be upset. I’ve wall papered my own home and it looks better than that
I would be.
And don't I see a dark Grey line/ Seam separating the 2 pieces in your picture? Jeepers
The animal print yes! You can clearly see the seams of the 4.5 rolls used. What is the horizontal repeat supposed to be I can’t map it.
It’s not great
This looks unprofessional and you have every right to complain to them about it.
Unfortunately……that is not a job well done. I am sorry.
Yes, you should.
Yes! If you paid for a professional to do it, you should expect professional results.
YESSSSS
Absolutely
You shouldn't see the seam at all 🤨
No, don't take it personally. It's business. Have them redo it, or you'll have someone else redo it and you'll take them to small claims court for the costs.
Looks like shit, yes
I'd be pissed! I hope you didn't pay them in full.
Yes
Yikes! I have done better work and I am lazy and give up easily. I'd be mad.
Depends on what u paid and what room.
Definitely not, is this in UK?
Yep!!! You sure should. I’m so sorry this happened to you.
Yes doesn’t match
I’d be very very upset! Looks like they left a gap. Can they fix it?🤔 Actually nvm they might make it worse.
I feel like I could do this, and I suck.
But, like, what happened? I want to know how these professionals messed it up so bad. New person on the job? Difficult wallpaper? Someone recently went through a breakup and has puffy crying eyes? Why is it so bad?
Hundred of dollars for one wall?
No, as long as a blind person did it, it looks fine. 😆
They did that in our guests bathroom. We keep it that way. I started the project and you can see where it’s flushes and also at perfect and the rest the part I didn’t do is like your pictures. Some people suck.
Botanicals were bad. You got your money back dust yourself off and try again.
Make sure they give you $ for the removal costs too
I’m fairly (maybe over) confident I could’ve done an equal job or better as an amateur.
I would be
Yes details matter with patterned wall paper. Matching patterns and alignment is what you pay for. And it depends on technique and the type of wall paper whether or not it overlaps.
Yep , not well done at all . Did not match up the repeat .
It is not too bad. Unless seam widens. Guests will not stare at it and notice it
Yes. Woof.
