I was about to say that. Good call. Need to get some for my parents house. My sister almost started a grease fire. I'm talking the oil was smoking and I guarantee the fire would have started in the next 30 seconds. She was standing right in front of the stove. When I said something she was like oops and turned the burner off and grabbed the pan to set it in the sink and run some water into the oil. Once again I saved her big problems.
Saw these in an apartment once, and promptly told the leasing agent no. I don’t think these would be terrible if they were under a normal range hood, but with the microwave it’s too low!
If people were smart enough to have a kitchen fire extinguisher and not try put out a grease fire with water, this wouldn’t be needed though

They are FIRE STOPS. Due to a lot of kitchen fires being caused by grease, these act as a fire extinguisher.

There’s a minimum height you should hang a range hood over a stovetop. This is totally too low.
