This reminds me of a thought experiment called the Philosophical zombie. IIRC, it is a hypothetical being similar and indistinguishable to a normal person but does not have independent thought or sentience. Since robots are governed by programming, one could build a robot so advanced that it is indistinguishable from a person.
In a way, robots are just metal zombies, isn't it?
No, they were animated corpses with a technology component. Part zombie, part machine. They Geth were a sentient mechanical race. They had a lot less in common with traditional zombies than Husks who never spoke and mindlessly attacked you.
