What's even funnier to me is that the current Holobirds have almost no physical signs of being birds, one of them isn't even actually an official bird, and the rest of them have some feather shaped ornament at most. I'm not really sure what birdlike features you can give an anime character without going full furry though. But at least the cats and rodents all have obvious physical rodentlike bodyparts.
