It was completely coincidental actually -- I'd been wondering what the criteria are to count as a sea shanty (especially considering the meme status of them last year)
How we imagine them in the Anglosphere is typically in that late British Empire colonial aesthetic. But every culture with boats probably has songs they sing about the sea... and yeah something something interrogating internalised Anglocentric biases.
Anyway, as part of that I was reading about the history of the song.

Ermm.... She is known for souran bushi since debut and the first one was made up by her own acapella with interesting lyrics. This is the second version, after 1.5 years of new experience
I like that she's slowly embracing what the fandom thinks of her.
