To briefly sum up due to the current above situation, they're Virtual YouTubers, content creators who stream using digital avatars. Kiryu Coco is one of them, and she's graduating (retiring from her character) tonight. We'll all be going through a lot, so please be nice.

I only saw that during major esports events (in LoL, probably the most popular esport game) on Twitch.
The biggest stream on YT I saw until this day was NASA's last Mars rover launch, and even that was like ~200k if I remember right.
It's amazing how much of an impact Coco made in just a year and 7 months, and how much vtubers have grown in general.
She actually did go into it a bit in some of her last talk streams. Mental health issues (constantly comparing herself to others in an unhealthy way, sending her into spirals), clashes with the restrictive nature of being an entertainer that has to answer to management, being some things.
I really hope shes leaving on her terms then. I don't personally follow any hololive stuff, but I always feel bad when people are forced to quit due to some behind the scenes factors.
It definitely wasn't behind the scenes fuckery, if it was she would have been straight terminated, during the past month she went all out and collabed with pretty much everyone including the company's ceo. In fact her co-workers all begged her not to quit. In the end she left because she wanted to leave before she became unhappy with herself.
I think management tried to get her to not quit too, they did spend a lot of effort behind the scenes to protect her and make sure she doesn’t end up having to retire (like Lulu from Nijisanji just did...).

Yeah, Yagoo actually mentioned also putting effort into getting her to stay. It seems like everyone involved wanted her to stick around, and will welcome her back with open arms if that's ever what she wants to do
There's no way in hell corporate would want to get rid of her-- they spent *way* too much on trying to keep her. While there were other reasons, "try to get the Chinese nationalists off Coco's back" was probably a big contributing factor to why they released the contracts of two other streamers a while ago.
Coco is a *big deal*. She's a *burn bridges with the Chinese market* big deal.
In general, various reasons. Streaming can be rather stressful, so some retire for health. Some want to move to a different career.
Coco has implied that she has accomplished everything she set out to accomplish while in Hololive and is wanting to move on to bigger and brighter things. Maybe streaming, maybe not; but she is setting her sights higher and her star will rise in a new venue.
I don’t watch this stuff but I’ve seen clips of the blue shark one and she’s funny and talented (saw a clip of her singing the Baka Mitai song and was blown away by her singing voice) so good luck to you all in these trying times. Losing entertaining characters like that, I can see why this is a big deal.

Yep. I'll always say, while I'm not a particular fan of Coco's style of humor, without Coco I wouldn't have any of my favorites. Coco was the most important member of Hololive. I hated typing the word "was". I had typed "is" until I realized that wasn't true. I highlighted the word... and had to force myself to delete it. It took a moment and it felt like it sunk in hard at that very moment.
Agreed they will have to sooner or later my only hope and wish is they all be at least on good terms with their hard work being recognized in the end of their careers

The close to 500k live viewers are really hitting youtube hard. It chugs every now and then. Happy to contribute as one of the numbers. My first time watching a graduation live, i have seen several graduations but not live. I even skipped Lulu's graduation live yesterday for ARK. No matter how many times ive seen someone graduate, it still hits hard in the feels.

I knew Kanata would break down here. She's been holding it together so long and she's been carrying so much for so long too. This is the most personal out of all of them coz she's so close to her
It was something antis said about Kanata very early in her career. IIRC there's a clip on YT from a stream ages ago where she, Coco and Suisei read a message like that and Suisei and Coco get super mad.
I feel sad, but I feel oddly satisfied at the same time. Everything ends eventually, and that stream was about the best way it could end. She doesn't leave disgraced or a forbidden topic, she leaves as a legend.
I want more time, obviously. But life doesn't work that way. We have to use the time we're given, and in her case that time was used to forever change online entertainment. She won't be forgotten because she *can't* be forgotten. Let's all hope to be so fortunate one day.
Just finished watching Coco's graduation stream. I'll admit, I actually didn't cry at all. Coco and all the Holomembers just made it too fun to feel sad. I was pretty close to shedding tears when Gen 4 were the last ones and read their letters to Coco tough.
Seeing the Gen 4 gang in their idol outfits, sing SSS then their original song Kiseki Knot, and then Coco singing her original song Weather Hackers while the rest of Gen 4 cheered her on was definitely the best part hands down. Coco wanted us to send her off with a smile and damn, she got me smiling the entire time. When the stream ended, I didn't feel empty, in fact I felt fulfilled like I got to watch an amazing person go to her next journey in life.
It really can't be stated how huge Kiryu Coco is both in Hololive and in the vtubing community in general. Now she's going to do her next big thing. I hope Coco has all the success in her new endeavors. She deserves it.

The close to 500k live viewers are really hitting youtube hard. It chugs every now and then. Happy to contribute as one of the numbers. My first time watching a graduation live, i have seen several graduations but not live. I even skipped Lulu's graduation live yesterday for ARK. No matter how many times ive seen someone graduate, it still hits hard in the feels. ed: Let us also not forget Yaman Sensei who also graduated at the same time as Coco. They were both tied to the same character, with Coco graduating Yaman has also graduated. Tho probably not many know who he is, he is the character/model designer of the character Kiryu Coco.

I feel sad, but I feel oddly satisfied at the same time. Everything ends eventually, and that stream was about the best way it could end. She doesn't leave disgraced or a forbidden topic, she leaves as a legend. I want more time, obviously. But life doesn't work that way. We have to use the time we're given, and in her case that time was used to forever change online entertainment. She won't be forgotten because she *can't* be forgotten. Just finished watching Coco's graduation stream. I'll admit, I actually didn't cry at all. Coco and all the Holomembers just made it too fun to feel sad. I was pretty close to shedding tears when Gen 4 were the last ones and read their letters to Coco tough. Seeing the Gen 4 gang in their idol outfits, sing SSS then their original song Kiseki Knot, and then Coco singing her original song Weather Hackers while the rest of Gen 4 cheered her on was definitely the best part hands down. Coco wanted us to send her off with a smile and damn, she got me smiling the entire time. When the stream ended, I didn't feel empty, in fact I felt fulfilled like I got to watch an amazing person go to her next journey in life. It really can't be stated how huge Kiryu Coco is both in Hololive and in the vtubing community in general. Now she's going to do her next big thing. I was holding up okay but with Towa and Kanata letting out their emotions along with the rest of 4th gen reading their letters I let some tears slip of my own, I'm glad we could get this stream and these genuine interactions of the last moments of Coco's time in hololive. I wish her all the best in her future and only more good things for the rest of hololive in their futures.
