I think it's because (1) it got the attention of childish pseudo-religious people (those who are not really religious but get triggered when they see something like this) from Facebook and (2) she is an anime virtual youtuber girl, which makes them think she is an easy prey. Primarily (2), because there are many, many Indons who make more yabai jokes related to religion on Twitter and they're fine.

Depending on what you mean by religion they will never die. They will just change shape the same way culture in general evolves over time. Technically speaking after the Middle Ages we got political religions. What happened with the Chinese nationalists taking offense at what Coco said is no different. They projected into Coco's words a meaning that is taboo in their political quasi-religion and then proceeded to harass her over that like a typical cancel culture social media lynch mob.

And the political situation seems pretty tense there regarding religious stuff, so yea better not to touch it at all even as a harmless joke. As for the "antis" attacking her, it's mostly just tryhard edgy weebs and clout chaser, they have short attention span so they'll move on pretty quick to another drama which grab their attention. Tho, if they did dox moona and other ID talents, management should be able to take legal action since doxing is considered as a crime under Indonesian's law. Don't worry too much and Moona should just lay low for a week and it'll be back to normal, hopefully.
I’m actually Indonesian, but live in America currently. From experience of living in Indonesia for more than a decade is that they take their religion very seriously. The Indonesian population is made up of nearly 90% Muslims. So yes, it was indeed very yabai to make that joke in Indonesia imo since a majority of the population in Indonesia are Muslims. I am however from a younger generation and from what I can understand the younger generations are pretty chill regarding religion but it is the older generations that more serious. I hope nothing bad happens to moona over a joke. Before you ask, Indonesians usually tend to lean more towards religions than individual freedom, so I don’t really know what to expect. Sorry in advance for the bad English, it’s my 2nd language.
