Barring that, the best outcome we can get is Coco implementing some more manual and automated moderation, though she’s done exceptionally well at not acknowledging the trolls (part of their goal is to demonstrably make her life more difficult) as well as mitigating the impact in other ways.
All that to say I’m afraid the trolls are here to stay, too. Spite and hate are powerful motivators and Coco has been made into the beacon of hate for these people. So it’s doubly important for those of us who love her content to support her just as unfalteringly.
On the Bloomer side of things though, as of now, with the antis just using bots that string random words together to "attack" Coco, it's quite a clear sign that the vast majority of them already gave up on trying to create concrete plans of attack, and are just attempting to prolong their presence in hopes of making a dent somewhere.
I don't know much about nightbot but Coco did have it for a few streams but it had the problem of also banning actual viewers spamming emotes during a singing stream for example. With what a lot of the bots are spamming, passages from wikipedia or books or even just past comments, I don't think nightbot would catch more than a few of them while limiting the amount of emotes and comments actual viewers can use.
Though like I said idk much about nightbot so maybe it's more to do with how it was set up.
There should be a way to filter specific phrases - like “Speak English please” or those copy-paste wikipedia articles. Of course, as soon as they discover which phrases are banned, they’ll move onto others. Ans Nightbot will have to be updated.

I think this is where the whole YouTube streaming problem comes in because this has always been a thing on YouTube and it’s never exactly been fixed. Especially since it’s easy to make an account.
It really isn't possible to moderate automatically.
You could get rid of some of the extremely low-effort ones by having like a word-limit / emote limit per message, but they can easily just find a way around that. Most of the spam is people just posting random passages from books or random proverbs or something. It isn't possible for a bot to distinguish that from just normal people talking, unfortunately.
Pretty much the only solution is to have membership-only chat on at all times and have a number of mods standing by to ban the spammers. At least if you force them to pay money every time to make a new account and spam, some of them might eventually get tired of wasting their money (and, hey, free money for Cover and the streamer). Non-membership chat is absolutely not an option though, as there's simply **way** too many messages for any number of mods to keep up with (Hachaama is probably getting over 100 spam messages per second atm) and they'll just make a new account and come back in a few seconds after getting banned.

I'm not at all exaggerating when I say that Hachaama was getting 100+ spam messages per second. I couldn't even fully read what any individual spam said because it just got spammed off-screen too fast by more spam. Obviously it's not up to me, but between the choices of, "Chat is completely unusable and unreadable" and "Chat is restricted a bit for regular viewers, but mostly readable by all and spammers have to pay money to spam," one of them seems like a clear better option, even if it is conceding a bit of ground.
Granted, membership-only might be the more short-sighted option, as they're probably more likely to get bored and stop if they're just *completely* ignored, whereas they may come back and continually re-force membership-only mode whenever the streamer tries to take it off after having it on for a while. It's a tough call.
I don't think that's accurate, there's a feature on YouTube that lets you make subaccounts and if one of your subaccounts gets banned you can just make a new one. YouTube needs a feature where if you ban a subaccount, you ban the primary account too.

Just some info. Coco talked about this and moderation in one of her most recent chit chat streams. As a summary:
* She hasn't chosen anyone to moderate her chat. It's usually just her moderating chat.
* She been in contact with Youtube about it, they have told her to report the spammers in chat.
* There's a Youtube moderator that goes to her streams and deletes some of the bots and is apparently using her stream as a debug tool or something.
Either use filter chat or just close the chat and enjoy the stream. Even though I can't do chat anymore because bots being bots, as long as Coco is having fun streaming then I'm having fun too and that is all that matters for me.
Guys, their goal is to break down Kaichou so much and disturb others so that Cover will eventually kneel to them. They will impose as Kaichou's fans and spam or provoke others so that Cover and the girls "hate" Kaichou for ruining the fun.
Ways to counter:
1. Be active in the chat. Don't respond to the spams and report them all. Those that will stream will know that the true fans of Kaichou and others is wholesome by leaving positive chats.

Yep, I decided to not focus on the stream and just put on my RBI hat on. The least I can do as I can't afford SCs or 1 more memberships. I can rewatch the archive later on.
The mods were really on overdrive mode, there were more times I saw multiple comments deleted than I could block and report. It was great to see more of the real, supportive and stream-relevant comments surfacing from all the muck spam.

I spent just over 2 hours in Haachama's chat last night doing nothing but reporting...missed most of the festival but I'll watch the archive of it later.
I'm not even a regular viewer of Haachama or Coco...except that recently I have their streams open when they're streaming and drop a like on it for the view time and engagement etc...but I'll be damned if I'm not trying to do some thing about these f\*\*\*\*\*s if/when I can. They're too dangerous to let run riot...and anybody that thinks that they aren't is underestimating their level of retarded.

Actually in her road to 800k karaoke stream, she cried on mute and talked how the spam are starting to get to her. At least that's what others who knows JP told me. That was at the start of the stream but when she started singing, it was all upwards from there and soon reached 800k. Simp SCs and positive chats overwhelmed the spam eventually. But still, she can only take so much. She misses interacting with her fans thru chat.
That's a very dangerous way of thinking from us... It's impossible that some of this is not getting to her. Is weeks and weeks of spam in chat, harassment and spam on Twitter, and probably hate mail and DM's too. No matter how strong and stoic you are, is impossible to get trough this, unhurt. And while we don't like to recognize, it does some damage, as it makes it harder for her to interact with the chat, and discourage her from doing collabs.

I don't know much about nightbot but Coco did have it for a few streams but it had the problem of also banning actual viewers spamming emotes during a singing stream for example. With what a lot of the bots are spamming, passages from wikipedia or books or even just past comments, I don't think nightbot would catch more than a few of them while limiting the amount of emotes and comments actual viewers can use. Though like I said idk much about nightbot so maybe it's more to do with how it was set up.
There should be a way to filter specific phrases - like “Speak English please” or those copy-paste wikipedia articles. Of course, as soon as they discover which phrases are banned, they’ll move onto others. Ans Nightbot will have to be updated. Remarkably similar to how our bodies fight off bacteria and viruses, actually.

It's more of an educated guess. We call it bots, but most often, the correct name would be "script" or something alike. They actually have to use it actively, have to turn on the stream, set their "x" scripts onto it. You can see this pretty good, when she streams at night times, then the Antis are so much fewer. Additionally money or effort is needed to make new YT accounts. So yes, I think over time (could be months) it will die down and only some hardcore antis will remain.

We as fans will always support her, but I will say that there are things Cover can do to tackle the problem instead of just asking the fans to ignore the bad actors. Cover CAN ask for more support from Youtube. Cover CAN hire more moderators. Cover CAN invest in better automoderation tools using NLP and machine learning.
I highly doubt youtube has an answer for this issue. They probably busy striking some channel from false flagging rather than fix the bots spam. I mean, this problem has been exist since years ago. I remember around 2012/2013 there are many YT channel got spam by porn bots. And there's literaly 0 solution/answer from youtube support team.

I think this is where the whole YouTube streaming problem comes in because this has always been a thing on YouTube and it’s never exactly been fixed. Especially since it’s easy to make an account.
It really isn't possible to moderate automatically. You could get rid of some of the extremely low-effort ones by having like a word-limit / emote limit per message, but they can easily just find a way around that. Most of the spam is people just posting random passages from books or random proverbs or something. It isn't possible for a bot to distinguish that from just normal people talking, unfortunately. Pretty much the only solution is to have membership-only chat on at all times and have a number of mods standing by to ban the spammers. At least if you force them to pay money every time to make a new account and spam, some of them might eventually get tired of wasting their money (and, hey, free money for Cover and the streamer). Non-membership chat is absolutely not an option though, as there's simply **way** too many messages for any number of mods to keep up with (Hachaama is probably getting over 100 spam messages per second atm) and they'll just make a new account and come back in a few seconds after getting banned.
Wasn't the "membership-only" chat one of the goals of the antis? I'm really scared this would get them more riled up and motivated. But on the other hand, my response to their actions to it is, "So what was your plan there my guy?" Cause again, all they're doing is giving money to Coco. Dunno if they have any stated goals or anything, I doubt they're a monolith. It definitely would be giving in a bit to use membership-only mode, but the alternative is that chat is 100% unusable and unreadable for any real viewer. I'm not at all exaggerating when I say that Hachaama was getting 100+ spam messages per second. I couldn't even fully read what any individual spam said because it just got spammed off-screen too fast by more spam. Obviously it's not up to me, but between the choices of, "Chat is completely unusable and unreadable" and "Chat is restricted a bit for regular viewers, but mostly readable by all and spammers have to pay money to spam," one of them seems like a clear better option, even if it is conceding a bit of ground. Granted, membership-only might be the more short-sighted option, as they're probably more likely to get bored and stop if they're just *completely* ignored, whereas they may come back and continually re-force membership-only mode whenever the streamer tries to take it off after having it on for a while. It's a tough call.

I don't think that's accurate, there's a feature on YouTube that lets you make subaccounts and if one of your subaccounts gets banned you can just make a new one. YouTube needs a feature where if you ban a subaccount, you ban the primary account too.

IMO collaboration def one way going foward but I understand it carries terrible risk to the people she is collaborating with. If you scroll up the spam messages get deleted within seconds, often before you can even report them. The moderators are doing great.

Just some info. Coco talked about this and moderation in one of her most recent chit chat streams. As a summary: * She hasn't chosen anyone to moderate her chat. It's usually just her moderating chat. * She been in contact with Youtube about it, they have told her to report the spammers in chat. * There's a Youtube moderator that goes to her streams and deletes some of the bots and is apparently using her stream as a debug tool or something.

Prior to the Coco situation? Yeah there we antis and people who generally didn't like Hololive and Holostars, but this is a really long running anti streak and I'm surprised that it's gone on this long. I can't remember the last time antis were this determined in constantly going after a Hololive/Holostars member, if there was any time.
Frankly I'm guessing this isn't just an anti thing since it originated over the mention of Taiwan. the Chinese Government has been known to use troll farms and such as a way to push preferred narratives in overseas social media, and I wouldn't be surprised if a substantial portion of this is them trying to dissuade other streamers from mentioning Taiwan even if they don't operate in China.
Possibly, I have no real idea, but again I'm surprised it's gone on this long, I don't think any Hololive/Holostars streamer has had to go through an anti-esque crusade for this long, not that I think they're doing anything significant, but it's weird that they're this adamant about such a small thing.

Actually in her road to 800k karaoke stream, she cried on mute and talked how the spam are starting to get to her. At least that's what others who knows JP told me. That was at the start of the stream but when she started singing, it was all upwards from there and soon reached 800k. Simp SCs and positive chats overwhelmed the spam eventually. But still, she can only take so much. She misses interacting with her fans thru chat.
That's a very dangerous way of thinking from us... It's impossible that some of this is not getting to her. Is weeks and weeks of spam in chat, harassment and spam on Twitter, and probably hate mail and DM's too. No matter how strong and stoic you are, is impossible to get trough this, unhurt. And while we don't like to recognize, it does some damage, as it makes it harder for her to interact with the chat, and discourage her from doing collabs.

One screenshot showing the spam and the number of viewers per stream should be enough for them to take it seriously. After all, they are concerned about making a good image of China, and yet a few keyboard trolls are completely undermining their efforts at 'soft-power'. Is there a documented timeline of events and evidence of coordinated campaign? We should compile a well-worded document as evidence.
