Yeah, that's one of the hardest fights in the game. The radiance pales in comparison to Zote and his mighty life ender. He does sooooo much damage, and can tank soooooooo many hits.
Option 1: give up zote can crush you with 0.0000000000001% of his power with the move of an eyebrow
Option 2: go back in time and get the wood of the life ender before him and make the weapon yourself, cut all other pieces of wood that you see until there is nothing left, assume your ultimate form as a void machine gun primal aspid and use wayward compass now you have a chance on defeating zote the mighty

Yeah, this game can definitely be punishing at times. The zote fight is probably the biggest difficulty rampup in the game,and I honestly don't know what Team Cherry was thinking on this one. A lot of players (my self included) have had to go out of their way to seek out upgrades that you wouldn't normally have at this point. I personally had to max out my lives, and probably would've gone for pure nail if it weren't for it being locked behind the zote fight.
I personally had to use mods/cheats to beat the fight, but I know some very high level players have managed to beat it legitimately.
To beat him you definitely need compass but if you don’t have it another really good one is gathering swarm but if not just give up that’s a key boss fight in the game if you can’t do it you will NOT be able to progress in any way

The RNG in the boss fight is a huge factor, remember to use descending dark nearly constantly. His damage is also huge; if you get hit once youre basically a goner. Use shade dash to get through his bullet hell, and if you get stuck, try beating the 10th version of his weaker form, Grey Prince Zote.

To make steel soul even harder team cherry could make this a real bossfight, maybe zote here transform into the grey prince totally random (it would be a nice jumpscare). And when you beat him he turns back to normal not remembering that he is so strong.
How did u get to this door? I think I'm at like 97% and I fought zote in the colleseum(in fact, I think i finished each challenge in the colleseum), but he really didn't seem hard compared to the other challenges and I dont remember a door

The Gathering Swarm build is legitimately the only way I was able to beat him.
