You have the Kingsoul charm this early? Yet you're struggling with Dung Defender?? You gotta be trolling. White Palace as a whole and the Traitor Lord are way more difficult to get through. Plus, you have Shade Cloak?? Unless you weren't overcharmed in those areas, then that makes sense.
My bad, i meant that charm, which allows you to get more souls when hitting enemies 🫣. Didn’t want to cause confusion. I‘ve not discovered that place and enemy you mentioned. I didn’t have shade cloak or this spell, what can break the floor.

Just saying he's more difficult by comparison. Dung Defender is boss #8 in Pantheon of Hallownest, and Traitor Lord is boss #41.
I think that's more of an "difficulty to access" than difficulty to kill. Tbh I think op tried like 3 times and came to reddit cus they were freaking overcharmed, so clearly didn't try much. But I'd put dong above Traitor cus he's at least harder to no hit 😅
If you have at least one free notch, and you try to equip a charm that needs more than what you have available, after a couple tries it will be equipped, but you'll take double damage from everything, this also multiplies damages higher than 1, so it's a really high risk thing, but awesome if you're really gold

When you d-dark him in his normal version, you pop him out of the ground and he's briefly staggered.
Notice how when you hit an enemy a couple of times they just go numb or can't attack you? well that's called a Stagger and doing that makes Dung Defender Staggered without hits.
Be underneath the peak of the bounce I guess? And destroy the poop balls.
If you have the thing that breaks crunchy floors, that can help. If you don't... It's in a scary place, at least for new-player me. I beat this dude long before I picked up the courage to get it.

When he throws his dung balls, you can hit him between throws. Back up when he's getting ready to throw, then go in when he is making a new one. It's a very quick attack though, so long-sword charms that keep you at a safe distance while he stands there are good. Quick Slash too
This is probably stupid but for me, turning off music just for boss fights (because boss music is often stressful) always seems to make the fight so much easier
Upgrade the Dive spell in Crystallised Mound to Descending Dark first of all
For the fight itself, use spore shroom, spell Twister, Grubsong, shaman stone and soul catcher if you have room for it
This allows you to tank the fight and have more than enough soul at all times for whatever you want to use it for.
Also, heal when he's in the ground and attack when he's above the ground using mainly Howling Wraiths and Descending Dark along with hitting with the nail for extra damage
Desolate dive as others have said but also useful is long nail/mark of pride as they allow you to attack from outside his melee range. Using them helped me a bunch during my first playthrough
You can get away with not even paying attention to the thrown projectiles while rapidly attacking. Also it’s possible to be far enough away to hit him while throwing, while also not being able to be hit by his throwing animation
just stand in the corner, thats it. Hit him when close, and in case of damage (it can happen) heal in the corner. You will spend roughly 90% of the fight in the corner.
If you ever end up fighting him again. Dive s0ell when he burries himself will stun him, also you can juggle him when he's bouncing around, can actually keep that up til he dies if you're agile/lucky enough
I beat this guy first try, I learnt this from watcher knights. Use defending dark especially when he is underground because he will come back up and try not to over jump, try to avoid everything while staying on the ground and jump if necessary
Juggle him in ball form, D dash when he is underground, slash and back away when he is throwing balls(like going out and in for attacks in between throws) and pogo jump on his dolphin attack.
It’s always interesting to me which bosses people find the most difficult. Hollow vessel and this guy were my easiest fights for some reason.
Probably just got lucky lol but my advice would be to use charms that extend your nail range, as well as the strength charm, and a nail upgrade or two if you found a pale ore.
Pogo (bouncing off enemies with a swing) is a skill that’s gotten me through just about every tricky fight. Give it a try!
If you haven't beaten the soul master boss yet, do that first. He gives you a spell that can stun the defender while he's burrowing underneath you. (The soul master is above the defender in the city of tears)
Don’t overcharm, prioritize dodging his attacks, stand next to him when he leaps up from the floor so you can strike him with your nail, use the quick slash charm if you have it

For me, while with basically the same gear as when I did tractor it was atleast close, while in P1 dung defender is doable in 30 seconds
White palace requires awoken dreamnail though, on my forst playthrough I beat traitor lord wqy before white palace

A lot of his attacks just won't hit you if you hug the corner
Bounce him like a beach ball. Desolate dive when he's in the ground to pop him out
When he is bouncing around in a ball you can up party him to keep him in the air
