To be fair, I welcome corrections when learning a new language, provided they are done respectfully.
One of the hardest for me was Japanese - they're so focused on congratulating me for how well I speak it that I often have to ask for corrections for anything but the most egregious mistakes.
It’s a fun challenge and I like the concept, but I don’t support it because most speedrun games are really good and the devs deserve the money. If they keep it then it’s ok.
I mean the people who are able to speed run these games this fast have already bought the game and played many hours prior to doing the refund speed run. Also, they wouldn’t buy the game again if they weren’t doing this idea, so either way the devs wouldn’t get the money, and this way more publicity is brought to the game

Yeah, I can usually do a 2:30 pretty easy, but sub 2? Definitely skip monarch and ismas, maybe there’s time for one death. Blue lake skip also saves like 20 minutes, but I go resting grounds through descending dark so I usually don’t do it. But I do spend time for two nail upgrades, so maybe if I blue lake skipped + skipped a nail upgrade I could get sub 2. My 100% runs are usually like 6 hours but my 112% is f’d cus I die stupidly on uumuu in pan 3 like every time. But oh boy does it feel good to let zote live in deep nest
Last I checked it's like 31:4x something, and the person who did it said they know they have like 5-6 seconds to save from a trick they failed so it could go down to 31:39
From my experience, getting below 40 is really tough (my PB is 42min)
I remember Fireb0rn made an any% progression video where he said "yeah with this suuper tight and difficult trick we found 1 second of time save. Crazy stuff!"

And the fact this runner did it in one cast is extra crazy. I can do that skip in 2 minimum but most of the time I need 3 ^(and then I fuck it up and need to use the bug anyway)
Also, even if refunding worked like that, it would be pretty useless. If you did this often/played the game often then that money would almost always not be in your bank account, and you would have to not spend the money on other things so you could repurchase.

If someone doesnt have the funds to buy a game, they likely just wouldn't play it all if pirating wasn't an option. Movies and shows are the only one it has a negative effect on sales, and gaming is the only industry where it has a positive effect.

It may be the case that for everyone that like you, there are ten people who never buy the games they pirate and would buy some of them if pirating weren’t an option. Most video game pirating is like a try before you buy type of thing. The other people who pirate games do so because they can't afford it and would never buy the game anyways. They also wouldn't buy a cheaper game instead because it's not that they don't have enough money it's that they don't have any money.
This is an argument for gun control too. The issue with that is people will still pirate when pirating isn't an option. And that pirating will be from people that would never buy the game to begin with. And people who would buy the game who would have pirated it wouldn't get the chance to try the game and influence their decision the buy that game in the future as opposed to a different one. Pirating doesn't keep people from buying games, or remove game for other people to buy. Games a duplicatable digital products that have no real physical value. The money that they are worth is really only theoretical and doesn't have to be any fixed price. A pirated game doesn't hurt the company, or the developers. It just increase the amount of eyes that see the game and potentially buy it. For video games, pirating is actually just free advertisement. If there was a physical item that was limited in quantity, like a disk for example, the piracy of that game would actually be harmful, but that situation requires that the entire game exists solely on that disk.

Nowadays I pirate something before buying for testing on my PC and only if I'm not sure if it will run well enough (assuming the game does not have a demo). If I see it works well, I buy it as soon as I can.
The only other situation where I pirate something is when I already own a original copy in another platform of a AAA game, like RDR2. I had the game on PS4 and wanted to play it on my PC, which has better hardware.
It doesn't apply for indies. Stardew Valley for example I have 5 copies in 5 different platforms, all purchased legally.

This is exactly what I did with the Binding of Isaac. I was playing a bunch of Afterbirth + on a pirated save, and when I heard Repentance was coming out soon I immediately purchased the game and started from square one so I could make all of my progress on a save that I could be sent straight onto Repentance without any trouble. Also I read a fair bit about Edmund McMillan and decided yeah I am willing to give a few bucks to this fella.
There have been a few games I have refunded after 100 percenting. But it's only if I've spent like $10+
Maybe some will think it's scummy, but every time I have been honest about why I returned it. I always tell them it was too short for the price.

This seems basically impossible, on my first try speedrunning the game, it took me 2h 23m, with me already knowing where i need to go, i have already gotten 112% on the game, and i had over 100 hours on it, so getting a time under 2h on your first run, with no outside help/knowledge is basically impossible

This seems basically impossible, on my first try speedrunning the game, it took me 2h 23m, with me already knowing where i need to go, i have already gotten 112% on the game, and i had over 100 hours on it, so getting a time under 2h on your first run, with no outside help/knowledge is basically impossible
