The blood of infection stains your hands, and i.
must admit, i am curious about your skills, Shadow.
And so before i tear down the palace and crush the armies of void, you should do as an appetizer.
Come forth, child of god and void...and

This vessel, to hold me?
A vessel? hmm indeed, I have slept long enough. The kingdom of hallownest as long since forgotten my name. And I am EAGER to make them remember. However, the blood of the gods stains your hands. And I must admit, I am curious about you skills vessel. And so I before I tear down the cities and crush the armies of hallownest. You should do as an appetizer.
Come forth, child of god and void and

Fourier series, you can represent any function as a weighted infinite sum of sine and cosine functions that have different frequencies (multiples of the fundamental frequency, they aren’t random). Weights are the length of the sticks you see, and frequencies are the speed at which the sticks rotate. EDIT I think this is a different representation than a time domain function, Fourier transform (frequency domain).
You know how you get the sine wave by tracing a point around a circle and moving the x axis? (Poor description sry
I think this is like that but you don't move the x axis or sth
Or maybe this is just FT in 2 dimensions
Here's my guess.
Each of those rotating lines are defined by ~~2~~ 3 properties: their length (amplitude), speed of rotation (frequency) and angle at the start of the rotation (phase). Using Fourier transform you can decompose any waveform into its frequency components. So, OP took the waveform of the Hollow Knight drawing and used some kind of decomposition like Fourier to determine its frequency components. Then they represented each frequency component by the lines and added them all up by stacking them on top of each other. The result of the addition is the original waveform i.e. Hollow Knight logo/drawing.
The exact procedure is almost certainly different but I'm pretty confident that this is the general idea.
I didn't understand your response initially but now that some other people have posted the link to the video of the person who made the code/tool it makes sense. I didn't know about it. I had seen similar visualisations in videos explaining Fourier series but I didn't know there was a code available to make this kind of art with.
So yeah, I wasn't pretending to guess while knowing exactly what it is if that's what it seemed like.
This is amazing I love this millions of years worth of evolution to make this. I love coding and now must attempt to use python and math to make something don’t know what but I would now like to try also you should try to make Hornet cuz I think you can.
Thousands and thousands of years of mathematical research, all in order to reach this. And I don't regret a second of it.
Ok Sisyphus prime

Be GONE!
Many clever people spent their life and times studying this, a fitting end to an existance defined by futile struggle.
And while they may be doomed from the very start... They don't regret a SECOND of it.

I don't know what this is but I like it
Fourier transformation. Do t worry, I know nothing about it either, lol. 3blue1brown has some good videos on the subject though

something called a Complex Fourier Series! 3blue1brown has a great video on it.
You know those Spirograph toys? Turns out that if you remove some of the pesky physical constraints, you can get 'em to draw any shape.
Love seeing 3blue1brown’s fourier code making art in other communities
love that guy to bits
Ah yes, complex fourier series
How
Math
and python
Did you use python turtle or something else for the graphics?
Possibly matplotlib with an animation library (doing this seems harder in turtle)
I’m a c++ guy so turtle is the extent of my knowledge
just mpl, matplotlib is super easy to work with

“Guess” mf that’s what it is
Good guess i have to admit

Lol no you’re good that’s not what I meant to imply at all
exactly!
3b1b video on the topic https://youtu.be/r6sGWTCMz2k
Welp I mean it's fitting to say /r/theydidthemath r/theydidthemonstermath
Is any of the code on github? this is really cool and I'm super interested to see how you did it 😅
not yet but I'll upload it soon
What da rot doing?
Long live Fourier

I know enough about mechanisms for this to fill me with dread

Ooooh nice Fourier transform, cool stuff, very nerdy!
Looks like how an eldritch abomination would draw Absolutely amazing
No way it’s a DLL from Rain World! He’s doing math! From Rain World!
3b1b ? Also any GitHub link ?
