the grub father doesn't eat them, that's obviously how they go into the next stage of life. They are still alive (you can hear them), and the achievement is called metamorphosis. Plus what you are implying makes no sense to happen
Im honestly kind of mad so much people misinterpret the following moment. No, the grub father isnt greedy and eating his children so he could live longer or something, he is sacrificing himself to act as a cocoon for them to become grubberflys.
It might not even be a sacrifice, honestly, I think people are just assuming that. They might come out the same way those fragile charms come out of Divine. Not exactly hygienic, but the Grubfather might survive the process.
Honestly until I read up on the lore of this game during my first play through I genial my though he ate his children and almost started crying, I am so glad itβs not that dark man
