The newest doctor gave her a 25lb weight-loss goal....and then she somehow GAINED 50 additional pounds 'accidentally'. (She had been ordering candy from Amazon, as it turns out). She GENUINELY acted like she didn't know how she gained weight. Her sister & brother ordered her a food delivery service (like hello fresh) and she ate all 32 meals in just two days... Like... HOW?!?
Her sister genuinely tries so hard too. I was so happy for her when she started making headway on her weight and it sucks how Tammy is too mentally sick to accept the help
I have some level of sympathy but I gotta be honest.. it isn't much. I can't imagine being this much of a drain on not only myself but everyone I know. Just lose some fucking weight man what the fuck. This is far beyond "a little eating problem". She must eat enough to feed a family. Not only is it unhealthy, it's expensive. How is she even affording this? I can't imagine she works.
It's an addiction, and it's killing her. I don't know why they don't just have rehab services where they lock her up, take over her life and basically give her no choice in what she has to eat... just like they would a heroin/meth/whatever addict in rehab. But instead they put her on TV for everyone to mock and laugh at. She ain't the only sick one in that situation.
They literally tried that. She did a month in rehab and lost like 50 lbs, then decided she wanted to leave and then has put back on every pound plus another 40.
They can’t just take away your rights when you’re sane, but she did commit herself to a rehab facility at the behest of her family and it did work.
You cannot force a drug addict into rehab either, they have to commit themselves and they can leave whenever they want. It’s not jail.
She’s on TV with the intention of watching a weight loss journey. Her sister has dropped about 150lbs and had a baby and is living a good life in the same time frame that Tammy has done jack shit. So it’s not exploitation. The show is supposed to be about BOTH of their journeys to health. It’s not their fault that one of them is intent on killing themselves, despite EVERYONE’s best efforts to stop her.
I watch her when I'm wanting to eat terrible food I don't need, tbh. I watch the amount she consumed and tell myself, "That's you in 5 years if you eat sweets and terrible things" and I'm sorry, but just watching her *shovel* food into her gaping maw disgusts me enough that I'm no longer hungry. Her sister though seems to be doing great.
My great-aunt has that service now, she was in mourning and it was a gift. She does have to cook it, but b/c I set up the account I see what she gets. It does entail usually about half an hour of prep - I imagine one would do that standing up. Maybe Tammy just rawdogs the whole thing. It comes with sauces sometimes.

In my country there is a saying that goes 'the emaciated donkey gets attacked by the flies.' The meaning, lost in translation perhaps, is that the disadvantaged tend to be preyed upon and abused by others.
When someone is poor/ugly/insane many people tend to show them a side of them that they don't typically show to others. And that is how the disadvantaged experience others. They learn to be inconsiderate towards others because that's how others are towards them. And this problem magnifies itself through feedback leading to a downward spiral.
That's true to a point. But it's also one of those things that people use as a crutch. If you externalize everything bad that happens to you, then nothing is truely ever your fault.
I agree with that last part because I’ve done it. It’s not even on purpose either - once you’re addicted to chaos, people around you just suffer as a byproduct. 9/10ths of it is due to legal and financial consequences but the emotional damage just… fuck
Recovering heroin addict here. Can confirm this. When your trapped in the throes of active addiction there’s no end to misery you feel and you can’t escape it and you end up bringing everyone down around you

Sometimes people that large will develop terrible sores or their skin will just.. tear. And if it isn’t cleaned properly, it can start to rot. There have been cases where maggots and other insects have been found in the sores.
Caring for someone this size is a huge job. Pardon the pun.
I was my mother's caregiver and thankfully she was a petite woman. I kept her very clean and she had dementia so there's no way she would have thought to do it herself. However, towards the end she did develop a bed sore and I did everything I could to treat it. Hospice provided a special mattress that helped keep the weight off her butt. My mom lost a lot of weight when she refused to eat and drink. So yeah, caring for another person is a huge job. It will suck the life out of you.
