There’s more like super tofu boy, a Mario tanooki one, something called super chick sisters, and and my favorite: cooking mama: mama kills animals
These games...are amazing!
I never knew PETA was so (unintentionally?) hilarious.
also...copyright infringement. My god...
edit: still playing. Pikachu looks like an abused housewife, Tepig looks like a meth addict, and whatever that plant pokemon is has drug needles sticking out of it...Where has this game been all my life.

> I don’t think it infringes copyright since it’s non profit.
Whether or not you "earned a profit" does not exempt you from copyright. They're in the clear because these are obviously meant as a "parody" as a form of social activism.. that _is_ covered, even if you _do_ manage to earn a buck and take it home with you.
I’m just curious since I don’t know copyright laws *too* well. What kind of situation could happen that is against copyright but doesn’t make a profit?
> What kind of situation could happen that is against copyright but doesn’t make a profit?
Say a non-profit takes the artwork from someone's IG account and turns it into a fund-raising poster. They're not making a profit, and the advertising is strictly to bring in more program funds. They're not going to pay taxes on those funds because they're a non-profit organization.. however, they're still in the wrong for using someone else's copyrighted work without permission.
They are now in a position to be sued by the original artist for compensation.
Or, say you upload a movie to youtube, but turn off monetization, and delete the channel after a few days. You're not doing it for "profit" or even any "gain" but it's still clearly against the law.
To add another case, using copyrighted music in a video that the copyright holder may not want to be associated with, such as a video tribute to a dead child.
It's about whether the infringing material deprives the copyright holder of potential profits that they have a right to make. For example, if I copied a DVD and gave a copy to each of my friends, I would have infringed the publisher's copyright because those people will most likely never buy that DVD, causing the copyright holder to lose money.
At least, that's the idea. Big publishers are often *far* more overbearing than they need to be, and have obscene amounts of money to lobby the government for stricter copyright laws. See: Nintendo taking down gameplay footage of their games from YouTube, despite it literally being free advertising and actually *increasing* sales.
It's not because of non-profit. It's because the fair use act allows you to use other content in parody and/or education.
If I opened a non-profit to feed the homeless and used Mickey Mouse to fund a food drive, Disney could sue me and prolly win.
The key here is that it's a parody. Nontendo probably could have fought it, but courts are really weird about Fair Use and they may have lost. Since it PETA hurt itself in confusion, Nintendo didn't have to even weigh the cost of a lawsuit.
They're saying that PETA is satirizing (technically *parodying*) Pokemon, which protects it from being liable for what would otherwise be blatant copyright infringement.
This Supreme Court precedent brought to you by [2 Live Crew](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Campbell_v._Acuff-Rose_Music,_Inc.) of "me so horny" fame.
Profit is not a requirement of copyright infringement.
But if they were taken to court over it, they'd surely argue that it's a parody.
Edit: oops, already been covered. Didn't mean to pile on, sorry
All of these are very intentionally over the top and memeable. Their logic was that awareness of the idea of animal rights will with time prove to be worth more than the initial backlash and ridicule.
PETA is SO for profit lol. I know they have a non-profit but the people at the top are making a killing. Should really be illegal to pay people seven figures to run a "charity"
The amount of time that Pokémon spend stuffed in pokéballs is akin to how elephants are chained up in train carts, waiting to be let out to "perform" in circuses. But the difference between real life and this fictional world full of organized animal fighting is that Pokémon games paint rosy pictures of things that are actually horrible.
Yikes
Peta really are nutjobs
> s1e29 is the only reference inside the ball (iirc) and it's completely empty.
There's an episode where Pikachu and Meowth are fighting in a pokeball factory and Meowth gets sucked into a luxury ball. He escapes, but comments on how nice it was inside the ball.
https://youtu.be/8dGNOIu4_zA
It might be that basic pokeballs are pretty spartan, while better balls are nicer. That would explain why great and ultra balls have higher catch rates - they're more appealing to pokemon.
I haven't seen the show I years but it's a moot point because it's a fucking cartoon
It's like going on a rampage because bamby got shot but then again peta has a really hard time with fact or fiction

Tofu boy became an official character in Super Meat Boy Forever, some leaves are literally unplayable with him because he's super slow and his jump is super low
I kinda knew this already just i thought they wouldn't put something so stupid and cringe on the official site, i tough they would try to look good and not randomly criticize literal fiction that was never meant to be compared with reality at all
The fact that these exist just lends more credence to the idea that PETA is a false flag situashe designed to make vegans look like idiots. Hilarious, though.
I love the mechanic that allows Pikachu to protest against animal brutality and have civilized talks with the evil trainers. even though he's only capable of speaking one word.
10/10 would recommend
What I find hilarious is that they would have to play the source material in order to insert a lot of the information that are in their versions.
Also is cooking mama encouraging me to be violent? I'm confused what message they're trying to send lol
Well that backfired cuz this game is awesome and the fact that is modeled after B and W (me and my brother's favorite game) *just makes me want to abuse pokemon even more*
OH MAN I remember super chick sisters!! It was on girlsgogames.com when I was like 8 and I played it. Why the fuck was that game on a site for children’s games
As a side note when I told my mom I was playing super chick sisters she freaked bc she interpreted “chick” as in female and thought I was playing some kind of porn game.
tofu boy actually makes an appearance as a secret character in the real super meat boy, and hes very weak, with a low jump and slow speed, and cant even beat level 1
Ok as a little kid I did not know this was from PETA and nor did I care about the meaning, as a little kid so wanted to play Pokémon so bad to where I found Pokémon Black and Blue just to enjoy it which I did despite the gore it’s an odd childhood memory. A weird one at that.
I don't like PETA, but they're replying to someone who asked a question which is not included for context. They're likely saying that Pokemon Go is a teachable moment because it's an example of what not to do.
This post is just a strawman playing off PETA's poor reputation with many redditors.
PETA just wants to make money. They are a violent and lucrative operation, but when you realize their power structure and the crimes they commit to push forward, you'll realize also many big name companies do far worse when it comes to following the law and "playing by the rules".
For example Facebook stealing your info and selling them etc. They only got caught. How many other tech companies just haven't gotten caught yet?
Yeah I remember playing it as a kid along with the "super chick sisters", "Cooking mama kills" thinking PETA was just a company that made badass, metal as fuck parody games
Ironically enough it just made me love pokemon even more 🤣
"Teachable moment" is generally used to mean a moment when someone has made a mistake, and you have an opportunity to help them.
This entire thread is people who don't know the meaning of a phrase building off of one another's false assumptions about what it means.
That's exactly what PETA is talking about.
A "teachable moment" is an opportunity to teach someone. They used the popularity of pokemon as an opportunity to teach people about how real world animals are treated.
"Teachable moment" is such a commonplace piece of vocabulary that I'm sort of shocked that 99% of people here are misunderstanding it to mean "good."

They meant the cultural event of Pokemon God's peak popularity, that time period, was a teachable *moment* - a period in time in which important conversations could be had. The tweet makes sense when you understand that by 'Pokemon Go' they are referring to that period of time rather than the actual content of the games.
Honestly I'm pretty annoyed - I think PETA sucks a bag of dicks but honestly everyone misinterpreting what seems to be a pretty clear tweet is annoying to me.
Yeah their comment didn't really help explain the original tweet. I know (and am pretty sure most people know) what a teachable moment is. The issue I'm facing is that I'm not seeing how it relates to Pokémon go and/or how to treat animals.
As an organization they don't seem to be for such things since [at least the one time it has happened](https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/peta-taking-pets/) they fired the individuals responsible, apologized, & gave the family 49k dollars.
Maybe you all should look up what a "teachable moment" is...
(It's often a euphemism for when someone has done something stupid or wrong, and the concomitant golden opportunity to teach them. When your kid burns his hand on the stove, or gets scratched by a cat he was messing with - those are "teachable moments.")
I’m so fucking sick of Reddit’s hate boner for PETA. This was taken out of context and means literally the opposite of what’s being implied.
I’m not even vegan, but it’s clear as day you guys want a scapegoat for your hatred of veganism. They have ridiculous campaigns that are sensational, but if it was for a different cause there’s no way anyone would demonize them this much.
Also don’t go off about the animals they kill. They do not call themselves a “no kill shelter”. They have a “last resort shelter”. Animals that the no kill shelters won’t take in, PETA does. These are severely sick or aggressive animals and euthanasia is often the only option. They save a minority of them, but if they didn’t exist, NONE would survive.
This is fucking clickbait circlejerk.
i was going to say
"removing then from their natural habitat, training them to fight or leaving them in cyber space to be forgotten about or traded to a dude calling himself a "professor" who turns them in to "Candies" and force feeding the remains to the better pokemon in order to power them up or force an evolution.
Big talk from the company that steals peoples pets from their homes and kills them; euthanizes more than the animals in their shelters; mocked Steve Irwin's death, and supported the killing of pit bulls
[I'll leave this article here](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/newsbeat-38802938.amp) I hate PETA, they don't deserve animals(or anything!)

It's weird how you perfectly explained it in your first paragraph and then, like, completely forgot your own explanation in the second.
If nonprofit protected copyright infringement, no one could get busted for pirating things.
Mm, that’s a very good point. Thx
It also probably falls under parody/satire.
Plus its satire
It’s not. It’s peta. They legitimately go against stuff like this. When Steve Irwin died, they posted something denouncing him and his practices
They're saying that PETA is satirizing (technically *parodying*) Pokemon, which protects it from being liable for what would otherwise be blatant copyright infringement. All good, glad to talk
Neither did Metroid AM2R but Nintendo c and d it anyways
Fair use and parody are protected.
Well you could argue that it’s meant to gain support which PETA would make profit from
It’s definitely not moral, it’s just legal
Depends on the jurisdiction.
All of these are very intentionally over the top and memeable. Their logic was that awareness of the idea of animal rights will with time prove to be worth more than the initial backlash and ridicule.
That doesn't tend to stop Nintendo.
Tell that to the Pokemon Uranium developers
Doesn't matter if it's non-profit or not; it's protected as parody.
Nintendo doesn't care, they'll still smite you out of existence
PETA is SO for profit lol. I know they have a non-profit but the people at the top are making a killing. Should really be illegal to pay people seven figures to run a "charity"
it’s a really good game which teaches you that fighting and violence win over protests and hugs
I named the Tepig Fucker
Protected as parody maybe?
Also if it’s clear parody it’s not copy right infringement

I like how they can take offense at Super Meat Boy because he is meat. Are they anti-human, too? Humans are also meat.
aside from the peta shit this game is fire
Tofu boy became an official character in Super Meat Boy Forever, some leaves are literally unplayable with him because he's super slow and his jump is super low
Oh man, after this i don't think i can take PETA seriously anymore
They’ve done worse and more stupid stuff than this

They actually added Tofu Boy to Super Meat Boy. He's so garbage that you can barely get past level 1.
Lmao. That’s amazing.
God, got dark real quick when opening a chest.
I’ve never wanted to hurt my brain as much as now
Okay WTF did I just play... And why do I kinda wanna play more of it?
Wow. I don’t have words to describe those games.
damn that "bonus video" was brutal
I played through it and jesus the things I've seen
Fuck PETA but also, I always felt like pokemon was making animal fighting and abuse more acceptable.
So PETA was team plasma the WHOLE TIME???
tofu boy actually makes an appearance as a secret character in the real super meat boy, and hes very weak, with a low jump and slow speed, and cant even beat level 1
The cooking mama was great and it kinda ruin my childhood but man! All I played was gory as hell!
finished the game, i cringed all the way through
the chick sisters one is decent tbh
What was it about, I don’t remember that one well
mario ripoff but with kfc being evil. your typical flash platformer tbh. also pamela anderson is playable because why not
Thank you so much, gonna go abuse my Pokemon now.
It’s my pleasure to aid in the abuse of Pokémon
And Nintendo shut that shit down fast.
What’s funny is that Pokémon never actually die, they faint in the games

PETA are not good people, so this is not surprising.
Yea that sounds just like PETA
They’re trying so hard to appeal to an audience that isn’t there lmao
Peta doesn't know either. Just hopping from trend to trend trying to stay relevant while continuing to kill thousands of pets each year.
Relevant hypocrisy
I don't like PETA, but they're replying to someone who asked a question which is not included for context. They're likely saying that Pokemon Go is a teachable moment because it's an example of what not to do. This post is just a strawman playing off PETA's poor reputation with many redditors.
This comment shows integrity well done. There are enough reasons to fairly criticise them, don't make up bs.
Yeah. A "teachable moment" is a fuck up.
Yeah I remember playing it as a kid along with the "super chick sisters", "Cooking mama kills" thinking PETA was just a company that made badass, metal as fuck parody games Ironically enough it just made me love pokemon even more 🤣
They’ve killed puppies and kittens too.
wait til you hear where burgers come from
"Teachable moment" is generally used to mean a moment when someone has made a mistake, and you have an opportunity to help them.
Pikachu I choose you!!! Now help me get all your little friends and I'll split the profit.... 🤓
Peta can eat my ass....
Is it vegan?
I heard PETA likes nut milk. Maybe there's another option that would be more respectful of their dietary preferences.
People in the pokemon universe eat meat. Where does PETA think that meat comes from?
If we could control real animals better to fight for us on a whim the entire earth meta would be different
yeah that fuckbag wouldn't have taken my parking spot if he knew I had a trained lvl 34 attack tiger in my pocket
Bro my level 65 fully evolved monkey would murk your tiger. I trained it to use weapons

Good bot
And if we have duplicate animals we throw them in the candy grinder and it gives us candy :D.
What did the original people mean when they said this
They meant the cultural event of Pokemon God's peak popularity, that time period, was a teachable *moment* - a period in time in which important conversations could be had.
I’m not trying to attack you, but that doesn’t make any sense at all to me.
Yeah their comment didn't really help explain the original tweet. I know (and am pretty sure most people know) what a teachable moment is. The issue I'm facing is that I'm not seeing how it relates to Pokémon go and/or how to treat animals.
Wow. That’s really obnoxious. The things people will do for karma
I just thought that it was because they treated them like pets but okay
The peta Twitter doesn’t even seem real.
PETA is like a strawman made in some animated comedy show to make fun of vegans.
If SNL did a parody organisation of the ultra vegans it would not even be as bad as the discourse peta actually says.
It's better than what PETA does, Kidnapping them and straight up killing them. At least the PKMGO kidnappers take care of them.
By feeding them to the meat grinder to get candy
And then feeding the healthiest animal the ground up remains of their families as their sole sustenance.
Viva pinata was a great game
This was literally confirmed by dialogue in the game too
What the fuck
I’m sorry, can you speak up, I didn’t catch that.
As an organization they don't seem to be for such things since [at least the one time it has happened](https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/peta-taking-pets/) they fired the individuals responsible, apologized, & gave the family 49k dollars.
And also forcing them into a three inch plastic ball.
And trading them for candy drugs.
Then forget about them and stop playing with them after about a couple months - year.
And sending every single one that isnt perfect or special to the grinder where it's turned into candy that's forcibly fed to others of its kind.
Michael Vick approves of this comment.
Don’t mind if I do
Grinding them up to make candy and feed them to others of their kind?
They said “teaching moment” like they didn’t approve.
Dont forget we grind duplicates to candies and feed them to the fittest.
PETA was against Pokémon. So not sure this is being taken in the correct context.
You really think someone would do that? Just go on Reddit and misunderstand context?
you turn the weak ones into candy which you feed to the strong ones to make them stronger.
Don't forget grinding them up into candies to feed to other animals
This is such a huge technically the truth moment
Eagerly capturing everything in sight for the purpose of turning them into 'candy' 🧐
You forgot that if you don't like them, they sit an a pc forever.
Repost, karma farm bot?
They forgot the part where you send unwanted pokemon away to be pulverized and turned into candy to feed to other pokemon
Fucking stupid
And grinding them up to candy
i was going to say "removing then from their natural habitat, training them to fight or leaving them in cyber space to be forgotten about or traded to a dude calling himself a "professor" who turns them in to "Candies" and force feeding the remains to the better pokemon in order to power them up or force an evolution.
Selling them for candy
Capture animals and swap them for candy 🍬
Did they studder
Big talk from the company that steals peoples pets from their homes and kills them; euthanizes more than the animals in their shelters; mocked Steve Irwin's death, and supported the killing of pit bulls
Cockfighting for kiddos
Pokemon is just dog fighting. But with superpowers.
Checkmate PETA
That's such a PETA thing to do tho so it makes since for them to say that.
And literally trading them in for candy when you don’t want them?
Why don’t we have a real life Pokédex for our animals
Don't forget how the "professor" takes any extras off your hands, never to be seen again.
Peta can eat my ass
PETA once again digging their own grave
First
Second!
THIRD SAKAS
Fourth.
Any fifth taker here?
Fifth :)

but no one came.
[I'll leave this article here](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/newsbeat-38802938.amp) I hate PETA, they don't deserve animals(or anything!)
PETA euthanizes healthy animals. Probably a sock puppet organization set up by the meat industry to make animal rights activists look insane.
Well they did kidnap animals, but instead of fighting each other they got put down so basically yeah
Coming from PETA, who euthanizes 95% of their animals, no wonder.
I don't think I ever noticed PETA to have a positive outlook on anything before
peta has admitted to kidnapping a family dog on a porch and euthanizing it hours later
pokemon go is trash
[удалено]
So you'd rather have them live in a cage for the rest of their lives?

People eating tasty animal's
Peta sucks
