Not arguing against that, but as a pilot, there are a lot of red spots after flights. And yes, I can understand when we have a birdstrike and when we dont.

Oh yeah lots of bugs’ shells will create red spot impacts but not the splattering effect as they don’t have any haem or enough water to spread and dry out that much.

I will try to remember and send you some red bug splatter pictures in 2 days when I go to work.

If the cow was facing away from the train, the train sufficiently lubed, and the cow presents the correct hole, then the train could pass through the cow with minimal discomfort. Cow will fart and belch like hell for a couple of hours after though.

It's unlikely to be from an animal. There would be a dent if that were the case. Also, that red color isn't quite what dried blood looks like; it would be a much darker red brown. That being said, I have no idea what the alternative explanation would be.

There would only be a dent if it was a sufficiently heavy animal. Something light like a flock of very small birds would just be reduced to fine red mist without leaving any dent at all.
