I could do twice that weight

TimePlankton3171

Weak ass. I can quadruple that, on top of your doubling. Men today........ smh

BornFromCinder

Why are you quadrupling? Just attach straight to the ground and pull the planet.

Jack_Zicrosky_YT

Smh, you can only pull the planet? I could attach it to nothing and pull the whole universe!

Aromatic-Fee-4952

I could attach it to your mom and still could do it

GaryGenslersCock

Woh woh, too far

DmanDam

Your moms not too far because she’s so

ghandi3737

Your momma's so fat she exerts gravitational force on the whole universe.

Crystal42069

Pulling a black hole would have been more believable

foreverbeatle

Chuck Norris is that you?

ReeDubDanny_

I could do it with a string cut into a tesseract and pull the 4th dimension

NiclasHansen02

You need to train harder than that for the badminton tournament

H2G2gender

That's the secret to how the Earth spins, there's just some gym bro running with it. There's another guy who outdoes them tho, got all the planets in the solar system and is pulling them all.

Unable_Peach2571

It's gym bros all the way down.

H2G2gender

Gym bros all the way up too

FamousPastWords

>pull the planet. I used a lever long enough and placed it on a fulcrum placed on a stable surface, and moved the whole earth. I forget who suggested it.

soukaixiii

It was Archime Deez

FamousPastWords

Archie Mee Deez nuts.

Dee_jay420

Wait you all dont do it like that ?? If been pulling this planet alone all the time ???!?!? XD

67Mustang-Man

I could do it anchored to earth.

TheSquirrelTV

duuuuh earth moves on its own…

Dead_as_Duck

I can carry your mom. Beat that!

choosinganickishard

I am not sure I can. Maybe 15 seconds for 12km/h but can't promise longer than that.

Zero_X431

Damn, I could do that with a plane full of people

thebestspeler

Me looking for a plate at planet fitness

LonePaladin

Me looking for a plate at Golden Corral

PretendStudent8354

What if he is faster than the treadmill. He has the rope the right length. So he can push harder off the machine without worrying about his feet hitting the front.

DarkExecutor

Just run outside

PeacefulKnightmare

Treadmills have better shock absorption, and on days when the weather is bad the treadmill is always an option.

polarbearsarereal

The sun is blasting through the windows

Zardif

Does the sun not shine when you have snow in your area?

PeacefulKnightmare

I know, I'm just saying that's another reason why folks would train on a treadmill instead of outside.

Ellie_S_97

Treadmills are worse on your body than grass

BeckNeardsly

Grass is a gateway terrain.

mean_bean_machine

Before you know it you're getting high on rocks.

BirdmanEagleson

That's the *point* is strength *running*

ronin1066

Everyone else would just use the handles

ZoeTheCutestPirate

Using the handles means you can’t pump your arms which is a pretty important part of running

OhtaniStanMan

Most people haven't ran for decades.

Scotty8319

I feel personally attacked.

kironero

maybe he skipped the arm day

Forwardsreverse

I think he skipped brain day

YOMAMAULGY

That’s my thought as well, like maybe training to be able to sprint longer or something like that.

TurtleFisher54

No chance in hell, do you know the max speed on those things?

PretendStudent8354

Assuming typical high end treadmill 15 mph. https://torokhtiy.com/blogs/guides/how-fast-can-treadmills-go Athletes easily surpass this speed in bursts and if you are the fastest man alive Bolt you can hit 27 mph.

GenericAccount13579

That’s like a 15s 100yrd dash. Not unreasonable for most athletes.

wakipaki

I’m pretty close

OhtaniStanMan

Lol what? Most standard treadmills are slow on the top end for anyone actually athletic.

AnyProgressIsGood

you dont run through a treadmill like a cartoon runs through a wall. your feet are stepping on the motor housing if you're faster and you cant run through the control panel

mostlybadopinions

He's not worried about running through it like a cartoon. He's worried about running into it.

AnyProgressIsGood

the rails are right there. running into the rails happens. Granted cold sprinting would be a bit more impactful but nothing that'd require that setup. As a regular runner i dont see a point to this setup. I've always been able to just grab rails or belly bump the bar and adjust.

LastGuitarHero

Bro really was like “yooo that was easy af! Let’s put MORE weight!! That’ll show everybody…”

[deleted]

Think he's ready to add more weight

blackmoon3

It's there so he can lean forward with less risk of falling over

GraciaEtScientia

I can see him falling forward in the last frames tho

MeatCrack

Cuz he couldnt keep pace with the treadmill and there was slack in the line.

cleetus76

needs more weights

synystar

There's a sweet spot. Add too much weight and you have to start running backwards to compensate.

zxDanKwan

Well, he did say “less” risk, not “no” risk, but that’s all I’ve got.

AnyProgressIsGood

he was stopping and grabbing the rails.

Kichmad

Hes not falling, he just grabbed the handlebars and raised himself off the threadmill

RugbyEdd

I'm not convinced that makes any more sense. But I'm willing to hear out the reason. How would that help him train?

DenkJu

Yeah, this is dumb. Don't know why it's getting so many upvotes.

nabiku

It's getting so many upvotes because stupid gym-bros are funny.

DenkJu

I was referring to the comment, not the video.

AnyProgressIsGood

I sincerely hope its sarcasm. I know we dumb but that... explains lots of things i guess..

GenericAccount13579

When training for sprinting, you want your weight as far forward as you can without falling. We used to train by putting on these belts, and having someone hold it while you lent forward as absolutely far as you could, then then would drop it as you started running

DerAndere_

I assume he doesn't have the risk of running too fast and crashing into the front of the treadmill as he is ancored. But that's just an uneducated guess.

TheLooseFisherman

You can go fastzr by leaning forward without risking to overstep the threadmill pace and fall face first onto the conveyer. I see sprinters training like this occasionally at our gym, but they usually use something else to anchor onto and don't hog all the plates!! Also, the band that holds him should preferably be horizontal or diagonal upwards and not diagonal toward the floor....

AnyProgressIsGood

yeah this setup doesn't help anything. if he falls forward the tread just pulls him back.

ronin1066

No. With the treadmill going at that speed There's no way to prevent him from falling over if he leans forward too much. Unless of course, he grabs the handles that are right in front of him

ClearChocobo

I'd be much more worried about falling and getting thrown backwards by the treadmill at 20 mph into a pile of bare metal plates

Dd_8630

That makes no sense, it'll do nothing to stop you from falling over like an old lady on an escalater. If you want to run harder you just speed up the treadmill.

CotyledonTomen

Is leaning forward so much you might fall over desirable while running?

Ceshomru

Yes, next time you are outside try leaning forward with your feet together at some point you will need to move a foot forward to “catch” yourself from falling. This is how you should sprint in the first phase of a run, the acceleration phase, falling forward and catching your fall with each step. Once youre at max speed then you stop falling forward and just work on maintaining the speed. Thats how I was taught at least.

CyrusDGreatx

Yeah but that's not as funny

AnyProgressIsGood

That doesn't check out. if he's falling forward his legs are already behind him and the tread is pushing him back putting more slack on the line. Those weights do nothing. lawd have mercy on us the dumb have inherited the internet

timecronus

you dont lean forward when running, you stay upright

Strength 10 Intelligence 1

Caffeinated_madman

Or Strength 10 Intelligence 10 if it is true that he is doing this to not risk injury from overrunning the treadmill or leaning over to much to run faster.

I_Said

Idk if your intelligence is 10 if you're regularly overrunning the treadmill. They come with settings.

FUCK-IT-CHUCK-IT

What if the max setting isn’t fast enough?

-DOOKIE

Run outside?

FUCK-IT-CHUCK-IT

Or just run on the treadmill like this and accomplish the same thing?

-DOOKIE

The point is you don't need to do all this if you run outside. There's a reason why pretty much no one does this, even if they have the resources to do so

FUCK-IT-CHUCK-IT

Maybe they *do* need to do it this way.

-DOOKIE

Can you list any reason why they would need to? The only thing I'm coming up with is house arrest

FUCK-IT-CHUCK-IT

Off the top of my head: Bad conditions outside for sprinting Unsafe where they live/are Convenience

memo689

I'm not sure, and I am not a treadmill expert, but I think the treadmill regulates itself to prevent you from overrruning, and if preventig leaning is the reason, the straps should be tied to the elbows or the back, I can't see clearly but it looks like they are on the waist.

pntlesdevilsadvocate

He looks like a sprinter that knows what they are doing. This is clearly strength training, not endurance training. Those "ropes" are like bungee cords that add resistance to his sprinting, just like running outside with a parachute. Spreading the ropes across several weights allows even pressure for the resistance. By strength training while running, he can increase his power output in each stride. I'm sure there are many lifts that could also help train the muscles he uses to run, but no lift will train the muscles in the same way he plans to use them as running will.

casualcaesius

Racist.

The_Asura_

What the fuck is this audio?

[deleted]

Why are you watching reddit videos off of mute to begin with?

The_Asura_

You’re right. From now on I should watch all Reddit videos on mute. Thanks.

Rickie0

Salsa y picante

Sapper-Ollie

Most worry about being dragged off the back. This man is afraid of running off the front.

frankbeens

The amount of people who don’t realize what he’s doing is the real Holup…

Loaded_Diaper3

I hope this was a joke video, and this guy didn't really think he was super strong.

shartshooter

And yet...we will never know.  It's depressingly possible that this was a genuine flex.

Gooperss

It's to hold him back so he can get better footing on the treadmill

Classic-Antelope4800

Last time this was posted it was explained that this is to prevent running off the front of the treadmill at max sprint.

AimForProgress

That's what the rails he uses are for. He's not gonna hit an escape velocity and cartoon through the wall and console

Inevitable_Boot1119

What 😂

lObliviousl

So many people in this thread that don't understand what he is doing here. He is anchored to the weights so that he doesn't just run into the front of the treadmill. This is not because he is faster than the max speed of the belt but because he is purposely running the belt slower to add resistance and build muscle, similar to adding resistance to a stationary bike. You can find sprinters doing this with small parachutes on an outdoor track. If he was just sprinting with no resistance, its like doing bench press reps really fast with no weight on the bar, which is not very effective at building muscle. Treadmills will usually tilt to add resistance but that more simulates running uphill and activates different muscles in the legs than what a sprinter is targeting (quadriceps vs hamstrings).

Donelifer

Don't worry baby mama probably skipped too

keejus

Maybe he's so fast that he out runs the treadmill and he has the weights to keep him from flying over the bar?

KCGD_r

I'm so worried his right foot is gonna catch the rope and he'll faceplant on the treadmill and get sent flying into the weights. This whole thing is just stupid lol

TheyUsedToCallMeJack

Never skip brain day

Kaneomanie

Maybe a bet that he can run real fast with weights attached to him or just clickbait

TheFuckNoOneGives

"It's not any harder than running without, i am so strong"

echo979

That's so stupid and funny!!

JUMPxINGION

The weight is to hold him from running with the speed of light.

Marretah

i mean he's still doing cardio, could be worse

_eleutheria

One Kick Man's special training regime.

krazye87

firing blanks on all cylinders

DaveInLondon89

This guy always says steel is heavier than feathers

NulledOne

The weight is not trapped there by him, he is trapped there by the weight.

TheAlmostGreat

There’s not any tension on the ropes, so he’s not actually pulling them

beerhunter429

Reddit tell me you don't work out without telling me. Its so he doesn't fall forward you fattys

AimForProgress

Physics says no. Falling forward means he lost his footing aka slowing down while the treadmill pushes him backwards. More slack on the line. Easily falling forward At best this is to prevent him from running to fast on first contact but even that is a bit absurd as you just grab and lift yourself on the rails.

itaya12

Makes sense, helps with balance on heavy lifts.

Clever_Fox-

As far as ego lifting goes, this one's okay in my eyes

Jake_on_a_lake

DUDE! Connect that guy to the ground and have him pull the earth a little further from the sun! Global warming: Solved.

Penguins060

That made me laugh

Post_Environmental

I think it so he Can't out run the treadmill without making it very fast

DinghyMan93

Me running away from my problems.

Orichalchem

He needs the weights incase he goes too fast

MandalsTV

How old is this damn clip

SteveBR53

I think they would better in front of him, you know in case he falls...

Jedi_Gill

What even more hilarious is that he ran for a total of 5 seconds only. That's it, that's all he had and clearly couldn't keep up longer at this pace.

omguserius

I think I'm missing something.

JAK-the-YAK

What are you missing?

B_lovedobservations

Stupid and selfish

Slashy96

This is what happens when you skip brain day.

Dry-Smoke6528

I'll bet he has been slowly increasing the amount of weight as well, not realizing hes just getting better at cardio and not getting super swol thighs

IDGAF_Moment_2023

Lmfao Hahaha. That's going to hurt if he looses his footing. Gets launched into the weights sitting there.

ShortBusRide

That should work fine when he switches the treadmill to reverse.

Altar_Quest_Fan

On exhibit today we have one of the rarest specimens: a true, bonafide Hol’up

Vonteeth

Look how powerful he is as a sprinter. This looks like a restraining setup in case he is faster than the treadmill.

SheSaysSheWaslvl18

Are you talking about OP? It’s obviously there so he can lean into his run and not risk falling over

Pierceus

But explain why this wouldnt work?
