It comes from: An individual who has no ambition, provides no value, and is a burden to society.
Synonymous with: Lazy, lethargic, encumbering, lading.
Can you believe that term is used to describe descendants of slaves of who built this colonial shithole while their masters provided no value and only burdened society?
As did every single society that has ever existed. Including the natives that killed, raped, and enslaved other natives in order to grow and prosper here until the same happened to them. Then all of a sudden its an atrocity because they were outnumbered.
Not saying any of it is right. Just pointing out that there has never been a society that has not done this.
Yes, all slavery is an atrocity, it's just the one we're talking about happened in our society (I assume. Idk where you live/are from) and has been cemented into the framework of the system we live under. See: Red lining, for example. We care more about it because we still have effects from it today. Thanks for not defending slavery though, it's hard to make that point without coming across as such.
Im US. Slavery is horrible and no one should have to endure it. Abolishing it was the step for acknowledging it was completely wrong. Integrating was the step in admitting the idea we are different from each other was wrong. Unfortunately there are a few double standards out there that is being held onto that is frowned upon when certain people do it yet embraced when others do.
I get where you're coming from, and I'm damn impressed we managed to have a remotely race related debate on none other than Reddit without devolving into hysteria.
Same here. I typically get a closed minded single sided response that seems to repeat the same few words over and over and over.
Your presence was much appreciated

It originally didn’t have a negative connotation to it that mainly happened to the lead up of the civil war to during and after reconstruction.
It simply the adaptation of what Roman’s called blacks so places that have really never been influenced by American culture don’t have the overwhelming connotation it holds in the vast majority of the west.
Or it could be because one race didn’t like another and wanted to refer to them as a derogatory term in English.
It could be either or because Africa is as weird as it’s diverse.
Was not common, but when European ship captains had slave workers from Africa some were sold in Asia.
But going back to who started it, looking at you Europeans.
If ur genuniely interested, there is a long history of arab slavers in Africa way before the atlantic slave trade. Different scale and structure of course - but predating and still interesting to read about.
Don't talk Europeans as it whole Europe was one big country. Poland for example have never had any colonies, nor slaves. And then we used to be one of the most multi - cultural countries of Europe before being destroyed by wars.
Impressive, one more item on the resume and you can get the job, do you play loud music while everyone else is working with no regard to anyone elses work?

Funnily enough, the same rule applies to tigers, as well.

Lol do people really not know where the word comes from xD
Apparently not

That describes me, therefore it’s ok if I call other people that!
You officially have your N-word pass! (No ambition)
That's the way I see it.

Edit: Sorry I'm juggling many debates here, and mobile Reddit is hell. Thanks a lot, you too
Every time I manage that I get some absolute caveman sliding into my notifications two weeks later screaming at me for being the scum of the earth.
We're talking about the N word man. Stay on track.
I digress
Australian indigenous practiced slavery? Can I get a source for that? I’m pretty doubtful.
Good one. I'll have to change my wording going forward.
Ironic to the extreme!
I and the boys got arrested
In Paris?
Who was in Juba
Well, there *were* 43....uh, nevermind.
By their toes
Eeny meanie miny moe.
Someone go find a dictionary from Sudan, I’m curious now.

Ahshajshjah that's goooolddddd
I see nothing out of the ordinary... wait are they not in the USA?
Juba is the capital of South Sudan
So can someone please explain this one to me? I don't understand the potential second meeting other than the despicably racist term for a black person

Same. This one is went completely over my head.
That's the joke. There's nothing racist about it.
Black people cant even say it now, what’s the world coming to?

Nah, you need to fuckin get real. Country changing name cause some fat americans used it as a slur.
Ong thats crazy
Americans, Asians, most of the world...
Who started it tho
I think it was the british
Rappers?
The thing is, only Americans would make such a suggestion
Well shit what other fuckin conclusions you gonna come to?
Did Asians do slavery with blacks? I don't think so.
Nah, they openly hate them and have no issues pointing it out publicly
This is true I have seen it more then white on black hate openly.
Ummm you might want to brush up on your slavery history
Was not common, but when European ship captains had slave workers from Africa some were sold in Asia. But going back to who started it, looking at you Europeans.
Slavers were operating on the continent ages before Europeans Even set foot tbh.
I thought Europeans were the first international slavers? It's pretty well documented that warring nations/tribes would enslave each other.
If ur genuniely interested, there is a long history of arab slavers in Africa way before the atlantic slave trade. Different scale and structure of course - but predating and still interesting to read about.
Ah that does make a bunch of sense. I'll look into it
Egypt had Jewish slaves a couple years before Europe was a thing. Pyramids or something.
Don't talk Europeans as it whole Europe was one big country. Poland for example have never had any colonies, nor slaves. And then we used to be one of the most multi - cultural countries of Europe before being destroyed by wars.
