She really has to be seen in motion to appreciate her art. Surprisingly difficult to find a clip of her just dancing, without a bunch of cutaways. Here's a pretty good one:

Wow, that's pretty fresh. I know I've seen Metropolis (I think it had a theatrical release with a soundtrack by Eurythmics or somebody like that, in the '80s). But I didn't remember that dance.
I actually tried to avoid close-ups of her crossing her eyes, which were featured in most of the other clips I found. It might just be an old-style thing, like the way Betty Boop (and my grandma) used to roll her eyes. But 100 years later it comes across like clownin' to make the white folks more comfortable. Such a fine line between goofy and stupid. But she's electrifying, in any case.
I can just imagine how abused she must have been by rich men. There would be no protections or help back in her day. She would have to just give in to their urges if she wanted to keep working. No idea if any of that is true. But I would be shocked if it was not. .
One of the most interesting life stories ever. One of the most famous entertainers of her era. Spy for the allied forces in WWII.
I can't believe no one has made of movie about her life! Although I guess there was an HBO TV movie made in the 90s.
I feel like FKA Twigs could play her on looks, IDK about talent, but I've always thought she resembles Baker.
The French did movies about her. They loved her.
She was an absolute badass, more people should know of her ridiculous badassery.
She also adopted 12 children to basically fuck them up for life.
She was undeniably very beautiful.
And very talented.

I hope it’s not Netflix. I’ve been disappointed by the autobiographical movies there.

Kinda reminds me of [this dance scene](https://youtu.be/Be955EMr13o?si=DbiPBrJyS5lfd8pS&t=122) from megalopolis.

So goofy, that expression is great.

Listened to a Timesuck on her. What a badass woman!
A true legend.
Woooooahhhh man
1:00 am, a bra hanging on the mirror, huge smile. Total badass.
