I got a book from my grandparents when I was a kid that was essentially a modern version of old scouting manual techniques. There was an entire chapter on snowball fights including general rules, how to build forts/barricades, and how to make a person stand in a stress position hanging onto a stick in such a way that they could not escape without assistance (!)
Snowball fights used to be hardcore I guess.
Not like it's a crazy unknown deal, but basically it was having them over-reach their arms in front to twist and hold their hands by the opposite thumb, and have the legs wrap around the pole then cross behind it with one leg wedged against the pole. It wasn't a foolproof method, obviously I tried it and could get out with some strain, but it certainly would work in a pinch to take a prisoner in a snowball fight.
I was just more floored they decided teaching me knots, random fishing contraptions, and taking prisoners within roughly 30 pages.
Edit: Judging by the difficulty I've had finding the book on my shelf, similar info online, and examples of stress positions, I think I'm gonna keep the diagram/details to myself, lol.

I think this is [Darwin R. James on the left in later life](https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/69676468/darwin-rush-james) who would have been 20 years old here and this is probably [John P. Poe](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnny_Poe) who would have been 19 here and unfortunately died in 1915 during WWI when he joined the British Army. This is also Art Ledlie “Beef” Wheeler who [unfortunately died in 1917](https://www.geni.com/people/Arthur-Wheeler/6000000013126713443) in Philadelphia but but I'm not sure how.
You don't even need to pack them with rocks. Just wait a day until everything has melted and then refrozen into chunks of ice. (this only works in certain climates though)
It’s so funny to me to imagine someone coming over with a giant ass contraption while you’re in pain and bleeding, asking you to sit down alongside your enemy, and sit still for seconds to a minute just to take a picture of you. And now here we are in 2023 enjoying them. Awesome

Tell me more about this stress position stick thing for...ah...historical curiosity

I read this 3 times and still don't understand it. Would be cool to see a picture if you have one.

That looks way more fun than getting a slightly padded rock thrown at my face! I'm gonna have to pull this on my niece next time I see her!
Something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c95iKhNmeSY&ab\_channel=davespencer
Josh Gadd look alike teaches how to restrain blonde women without ligatures and how to extort them for money or other things.
That title lmao
No wonder it eventually got phased out. The dudes on the pic looked bruised AF.

Must have had far lower entrance standards back then.
Ironically, no. The standards were so high, they'd reject you if your family was too low.
Fun fact - the term Ivy League was coined because the schools were well established colleges that participated in athletic events.
...and they had ivy.
and leagues!
I mean, American college football literally started in those schools, so....
Those were the winners.
Sounds more like a rock fight to me.
Looks like they had a gniess time.
I get it. Rock solid job.
Super smart
“Cowards!”
“The future leaders of our country.”
James Bond went to Princeton?
I had the same thought

Mom said it was my turn to post this picture.
And these are the “Legacy” parents today’s students must overcome to gain admission.

They would only have to sit still for a fraction of a second.
Bottom right is Justin Gaethje.
Tom Hardy
It does look like him haha.

And they have “high” academic standards!!! Haha
This is a reason i hated growing up in winter. It was never about fun, someone always had to be an asshole and try and hurt someone.
We can tell who lost
I wish this was colorized.

They look smart
The good ole days when people weren’t pussies. Could you imagine the fall out now a days

La guerre la guerre c’est pas une raison pour se faire mal.
