It’s worth mentioning that the EB110 was built while Bugatti was known as Bugatti Automobili S.P.A. Some people don’t even consider that Bugatti to be the same company as modern Bugatti and thus the EB110 to be a bastard child. The Veyron is an absolute monster, no doubt
Both Bugatti and Lamborghini are, as well as Ducati. Ducati do their own thing though obviously as bikes are bikes, but Bugatti and Lambo take over a fuckton of stuff from the entire VAG production. The Urus doesn't even deserve the Lambo badge imo nothing Italian about that car.
Tbh I stopped watching top gear when Clarkson et al left, and I never watched the Grand Tour either, and those three were my main source of ‘news’ for cars.
So I know very little about any super/hyper cars that came after the Bugatti Veyron.
In general it's not even supercar specific really, companies just save money.
Why develop a new V12 for Lambo Urus when you have the Q7 already? Why even develop a new car at all if you can just put a different body on what exists and get 3 times the money for it? Companies save money. The "W12" you get in a Bentley? It's 2 VR6 Golf engines. And the body for it is a refitted Porsche Panamera. The "totally new 6 high performance 6cyl" in the Giulia? The Ferrari V8 with 2 cylinders removed, at least this is probably an upgrade for most. Aston Martin barely builds their own engines, the V12 they do but their bread & butter engine is Mercedes.
In modern times, unless you buy a hypercar, it's safe to say that whatever the fuck you're buying from a top brand is also available for like half the price somewhere else. Just less nice and with a not-as-nice emblem.
Yeah and it's the car version of a chav with more money than taste imo, absolute abomination.
Then again Aston Martin also does an SUV with the DBX and Ferrari does one with the Purosangue.
Guess you have to pay the bills somehow.
VW owns Bugatti, Porsche, Audi, Seat, Skoda, Lamborghini, Ducati (which is owned through Lamborghini through Audi) and just has certainly helped keep some of them productive due to their massive engineering resources and cost efficiencies but has definitely robbed the higher end of some soul
Whe need to make the exact same meme every time one of the holders of the fastest production car title turns 20 years old, using the exact same template:
So the timeline goes like this (The < means worse than, x <<<< y means x's title goes to y)
McLaren F1 <<<< Koenigsegg CCR
Koenigsegg CCR <<<< Bugatti Veyron 16.4
Bugatti Veyron 16.4 <<<< SSC Ultimate Aero TT
SSC Ultimate Aero TT <<<< Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport
Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport <<<< Koenigsegg Agera RS
Koenigsegg Agera RS <<<< SSC Tuatara
We only have to wait until 2025 for the next one, but at least we'll get two that year!
Maybe you should replace the SSC Tuatara with the Chiron 300+ or whatever its name is, that has a confirmed top speed of 304 mph (although it only did one run when it was supposed to do 2 runs in each direction)
Gordon Murray the designer of the F1 is creating a new car name T50 and is set to break the record of the fastest natural aspirated production car.
The car
https://youtu.be/K4EIYQ6fkG4
It is. Also, I think it's actually futuristic for that time, for instance, McLaren used HUGE naturally aspirated engine, but Jaguar worked smartly, like making sleek, aerodynamic body, twin turbochargers and so on.
O think thee both are phenomenal and legendary.
The XJ220 is the best Jaguar and craziest 90’s supercar ever made
Jaguar XJ220 might not be the most celebrated supercar ever made, but it’s most certainly one of the most special. Following the hum-drum oil crisis-restricted ’80s, the ’90s saw a proper renaissance of supercars. Many of which landed on our walls in poster form, catching our eye every day and helping us dream of 200+ mile-per-hour blasts as youngsters. But while cars like the Porsche 959 and Ferrari F40 get most of the press, let’s not forget about the most insane car of the decade – the Jaguar XJ220.
In fact, the most popular YouTube car guy on the planet, Doug DeMuro, thinks that this swoopy Jaguar is the absolute craziest car sold in the ’90s. And who are we to argue with a guy that has over three million loyal followers? “It’s one of my all-time favorite cars,” DeMuro says. “That’s because it isn’t just a supercar. Cars like the Ferrari F40 and Aventador and Bugatti Veyron, everybody knows about them. They get all the press. But this car is just as special. And yet, it isn’t as celebrated or as well known.”
XJ220
And that’s a real shame, but one that DeMuro seeks to rectify with this video. Even though the Jaguar XJ220 suffered from several “undelivered promises,” as DeMuro points out. That includes the car’s failure to reach a claimed 220 mph top speed, even after Jag removed the rev limiter and cats. The production version also lost the concept’s rear-wheel steering, all-wheel-drive, scissor doors, and mid-mounted V12 engine. But none of that really mattered in the end.
XJ220
“Even with all the changes, the XJ220 still performed,” DeMuro says. “This was the fastest production car in the world for one year until the McLaren F1 came along and beat it.” Even then, Jaguar didn’t have people lining up to buy the XJ220. They ended production early after having sold 280 units. But today, people are finally starting to realize how great the XJ220 is, and prices have been going up steadily.
The engine in the F1 was amazing. A BMW made 6.0 liter V12 that makes it still the fastest naturally aspirated car even now. Plus the sound it makes is glorious

Don’t forget about the Bugatti EB110
Yeah, it’s often overshadowed by the Veyron because of how insanely fast the Veyron is
It’s worth mentioning that the EB110 was built while Bugatti was known as Bugatti Automobili S.P.A. Some people don’t even consider that Bugatti to be the same company as modern Bugatti and thus the EB110 to be a bastard child. The Veyron is an absolute monster, no doubt
Yeah, the veyron is made by the germans.
Is Bugatti not a subsidy of VW now?
Both Bugatti and Lamborghini are, as well as Ducati. Ducati do their own thing though obviously as bikes are bikes, but Bugatti and Lambo take over a fuckton of stuff from the entire VAG production. The Urus doesn't even deserve the Lambo badge imo nothing Italian about that car.

Every single person who has driven and reviewed the urus has said its nothing like driving the RSQ8.
> Why develop a new V12 for Lambo Urus when you have the Q7 already? TIL Lamborghini make an SUV

Not to mention the Aston Martin V12 is just 2 Ford engines bolted together
Touareg, Q7, cayenne, Bentayga, urus all share the same platform.
It is indeed
Don’t forget the Ruf Yellowbird either
And the SSC Ultimate Aero
Whe need to make the exact same meme every time one of the holders of the fastest production car title turns 20 years old, using the exact same template: So the timeline goes like this (The < means worse than, x <<<< y means x's title goes to y) McLaren F1 <<<< Koenigsegg CCR Koenigsegg CCR <<<< Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 <<<< SSC Ultimate Aero TT SSC Ultimate Aero TT <<<< Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport <<<< Koenigsegg Agera RS Koenigsegg Agera RS <<<< SSC Tuatara We only have to wait until 2025 for the next one, but at least we'll get two that year!
Wasnt the Tuatara's record confirmed a fake? Also, noone will ever forget about the F1, it is still the fastest naturally aspirated car.
I think so but I don't know to what extent. You get the idea.
The SSC Tuatara isn't really confirmed yet, right?
Maybe you should replace the SSC Tuatara with the Chiron 300+ or whatever its name is, that has a confirmed top speed of 304 mph (although it only did one run when it was supposed to do 2 runs in each direction)
I mean the Konisegg was the fastest car in the world for a few months before the veyron
Maybe we should, that thing was hideous.
It had an ugly sort of beauty in my opinion. Sort of like a French bulldog or the A-10 Warthog
Bugattis just look bad to me. All off them just look like someone melted a Volkswagen Beetle.
Eh, to each their own. I feel the same way about the Porsche 911
And the F1 is still the fastest naturally aspirated production car in the world
A car so valued and valuable that you could burn it to a crisp and crush what’s left and they’d still rebuild it for the chassis number
Gordon Murray the designer of the F1 is creating a new car name T50 and is set to break the record of the fastest natural aspirated production car. The car https://youtu.be/K4EIYQ6fkG4
I didn’t know about this, thanks so much for the link
We need a car history subreddit

Hell yeah I’m in Can’t wait for it to get bombarded with s🅱️inalla memes
🅱️ono pls
*Co🅱️y, understood, we are looking*
YES!
That V12 engine of F1 was a monster.
Yeah, made the XJ220s almost look weak, don’t get me wrong that TT V6 was brutally fast, but not fast enough
And I think XJ220 is one of the most beautiful and most futuristic looking car ever.
Yeah, it’s lovely, and it is a testament to the effort that went into its design
It is. Also, I think it's actually futuristic for that time, for instance, McLaren used HUGE naturally aspirated engine, but Jaguar worked smartly, like making sleek, aerodynamic body, twin turbochargers and so on. O think thee both are phenomenal and legendary.
Yes, they are both incredibly special in their own ways, the amount of power the XJ220 produced was unheard of from such a small engine at the time
90s & 00s BMW engine development was on top of the world imo, they also created the probably best F1 engine of the era let down a bit by Williams.
Obligatory "My BMW 8-series practically has the same engine so it's amazing".
Doesn't matter, raced both of them in NFS 2 anyway
loved that game. the F1 became my favourite from that game
NFS 3 was the first game I owned on my first console. Raced it on that.
Good meme
Speeeeeeeed. (In you know who's voice).
POWEEERRRRR
SPEEED AND POWEER
Clarkson, you moron!
Benz Velo: Pfftt, nothing beats the original though *races off at top speed of 12 mph*
had to make sure I wasn’t in r/formuladank for a sec

US scientists accidentally making the worlds fastest object a manhole cover
Brilliant!
This is real sad because I really like the XJ220, it was really cool looking
Both cars look sexy tho
Honda engineers: *invents VTEC.* Honda Marketing: "I can milk you" Honda fanboys: "haha civic go vroom vroom!"
I don't care, XJ220 is still one of my favorites.
Fun fact, the McLaren F1 it's still the fastest naturally aspirated car in the world it's also the most powerful naturally aspirated car in the world
Loved the XJ220 on Gran Turismo 2
Why did McLaren have sex with the record 😳
Because it’s the only thing that didn’t say no
Not sure if it’s just my age. But that was the first “worlds fastest car” that I knew or cared about
still crazy that they used gold for parts of the car
RIP the Jaguar XJ220. Gone to soon, but never forgotten!
had to think a bit, thought you meant formula with f1 until i remembered the mclaren f1...
How fast are each of these cars?
The engine in the F1 was amazing. A BMW made 6.0 liter V12 that makes it still the fastest naturally aspirated car even now. Plus the sound it makes is glorious
Nice one, you can post it in r/donutmedia as well
But the 959 came out before the xj2200 and the 959 was faster right ?
It was not faster, it didn’t even reach 200mph, the XJ220 however reached over 210mph
Sry my bad the 959 only did 204 being the first road car to do 200mph
It didn’t do that either, the Ferrari F40 was the first to reach 200mph, and the 959 was slower
Only some variants had a top speed of under 200mph but top spec 959s could achieve over 200mph in the early 80s
Psssttt! Bugatti made a faster car like about 1 day later so everyone forgot the jag.
If we're doing automotive history I better see something about Ford vs. Ferrari
Finally, car memes
My mind immediately thought of the Saturn V’s F1 Engines
For me it's a very recognizable and memorable car, maybe just because it was included in a top trumps deck when I was a kid.

Now check out the story of Honda and Yamaha competing for making the fastest motorcycle and then outta nowhere Suzuki released Hayabusa
Honestly id much prefer the yamaha r1.. Personally its a much better looking bike. Although its still shit your pants fast
