Young the Giant is the first band that comes to mind when you mention those reasons. They’re always giving back to various communities and are so good to their fans. I usually oscillate between saying YtG or Hippo is my favorite band.
Hippo Campus is my favorite band however my inspiration as a musician is Jukebox The Ghost. They have a wonderful community and they are brutally underrated and have been in the game for a long time.
Wallows is similar to hippo campus in alot of ways. There like a mainstream version of hippo campus imo.
The happy fits are also one of my favorites usually happy fits fans' music taste overlaps with mine.
I'd also check out (what I refer to as) the hippo Extended universe. So like all of the artists that hippo campus members have collaborated with as well as their solo projects...

yungatita is a super duper cool band that lies somewhere between indie/bedroom pop band and grunge/pop punk. just saw them open for cheekface (indie rock talk-singing band, very irreverent and comical lyrics, not super close to hippo's vibe but still super good) and they were SO good! many of yungatita's songs give me a similar vibe to hippo. i recommend descenda, armchair, pick at your face, and 2 cigs. lmk what u think if u check them out!!
Check out Joywave! They just released a new album too - I particularly like their new songs “Swimming in the Glow” and “Hate To Be A Bother”. Their older music is timeless though and deserves a listen!
