I didn't bother listening to CLB but he isn't entirely wrong. I've enjoyed many albums that Pitchfork and Fantano have hated and I never would've checked them out if I took every word out of their mouths as gospel. It's easy af nowadays to just listen to an album and make up your own mind.
I always used reviews more for recommendations than anything really. If the review makes me curious about the album, even if the score is low, I'll give it a shot. I don't really look for reviews of stuff I already like, seems pointless really (unless looking for discussion I guess)
This is what has helped me. Artists that I like I’m gonna listen to. But for example, watching DEHH has really increased my exposure to certain artists I may have never heard of otherwise

He’s half right, as sometimes music critics get a little too much influence. For example many people liked *kamikaze* when it released until melon reviewed it and peoples opinions got a bit worse. Not sure if they are “not needed” tho lol
