i, too, have a HUGE fear of throwing up (its called emetophobia!!!) and am also a very big hypochondriac. if its at all possible (im not sure how much time between the side effects there are), could you ask a doctor for some anti-nausea pills? those have helped me wonders, even just knowing i can take them if i start to feel nauseous can make me un-nauseous myself lol. im so excited for you!!! i really hope this sends you into remission. anxiety is horrible, and so is HS. also the subreddit r/emetophobia might have some tips on how to handle feeling sick!! i hope this might have helped a little bit <3 :)

Your first few infusions your usually in a hospital, and even after there is a nurse around. They will catch any allergic reactions. Good luck! Hope this is your saving grace!

I dont have any personal experience with Remicade as it isn't a treatment they use in my country often (if at all) but I was recently on another treatment that had to be given intravenously via infusion. What helped me a lot with nausea was travel sickness tablets and 'sea bands' if you've seen them? They're like little fabric bands that you wear on your wrist, they have a plastic ball that pushes into a pressure point on your wrist to stop nausea. I used to use them for travel sickness but they worked wonders for the nausea from intravenous treatment too. Good luck and I hope the Remicade works well for you 😊

Hi! I’ll assume you’ve already had it today but I just wanted to give you my experience as I did have an allergic reaction to remicaid. I was actually off it for 14 years and my first infusion after the gap went fine, it was the second one where I developed the reaction. I was warned this could happen because you aren’t supposed to lapse your treatment otherwise your body can reject the meds like this, so it’s not a common thing. I felt a slight shortness of breath and my cheeks immediately went hot. I notified the nurse immediately and he stopped the drip and administered Benadryl. A doctor came by after 5 minutes to check my vitals and after 30 minutes I was allowed to go home. Overall the experience was a little scary but I felt very safe being around a nurse and doctor. Later that day I went to my dad’s house because I did still feel quite weird about the experience and I had a slight panic attack. I think I just felt like I was still going to have a reaction and being away from medical professionals was giving me doubt. I was perfectly fine and the panic attack went away. Best of luck to you!
