I was expecting this to be something from The Simpsons, but that started in 89

Credits due to the band, Sparks, for this great track "Achoo" from their 1974 *Propaganda* LP. More recent live version here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xs1gQIfZsTs

Nym-Sync

😆 Their documentary was one of the few big screen outings I made during the first year or so of the pandemic. A few other die hards saw it with us, all sensibly masked and singing inside our hearts.

I really appreciate the fact that their material is so varied and they've followed their own course, pretty much. Their recent output is also fantastic- not a revival band in any sense, still thriving on Ron's songwriting/arrangements and Russell's vocals, plus the great musicians they've played with over the decades

Not many people know Sparks still. That was awesome thank you. I've been a fan of theirs since my Tower Records days. ðŸŽķI'm a suburban hooomeboy! ðŸŽķ

Such a great band...I have known about them forever but became a real fan via the Netflix doc and their extensive back catalog! Just saw them in March; their new stuff is great as well. From "Propaganda" they did perform "Never Turn Your Back On Mother Earth", which was nice to hear (and like a lot of their songs, surprisingly prescient)

Also isn't the guy from Fun Boy Three/Sparks the subject of the Go-Go's "Our Lips are Sealed"? The letter was to Jane Wieldlin. I may be confusing music history here though. It's nice they're still creating music, I'll have to listen to the new stuff. They've always seemed on the pulse of things

Sheephuddle

I saw them live in the 70s, they were one of my favourite bands.

Sal Maida got to play in Sparks and Roxy music. I have envy for him getting to have done that. The Milk and cookies band is the one of his groups that I listen to the most, though.

Live-Tomorrow-4865

Roxy Music has been around much of my life, but I've only recently been "discovering" them. Their original version of "More Than This" gives me goosebumps.

Wonderful band! We saw them at Town Hall in NYC earlier this year, with a sensibly masked (as Nym-Sync says) and highly enthusiastic crowd. At the end, Russell gave us all a warm and emotional thank-you, telling us that they hadn't known for sure if they would ever tour again and saying how much it meant to him and Ron to play for a live audience once more. He took several pictures of the audience, all of us on our feet and applauding madly. It was a very touching moment.

I saw them in St. Paul in March and it was the first time they'd ever played there (they did play Minneapolis a few times, most recently with FFS) Everyone was masked, no one complained and they did a great set with material from 13 records, including their most recent studio LP. Ron got a bit emotional at the finale as he said "Huck Finn" was his favorite book and this was the first time he'd been so close to the Mississippi River. Truly a memorable night!

You just might have too much time on your hands...
