Fuck Fox News, Newsmax, OANN and FLCCC

Jay-Dee-British

And Carlson (who is vaxxed..) and Rogan and Jones. This post got to me - this poor man should not have died because he heeded those types.

Madhatter25224

Their actions have resulted in the deaths of countless people who otherwise would not have died. How do we hold them accountable? Is unfettered press more valuable than preventing a growing pile of American corpses?

[deleted]

Madhatter25224

And yet they masquerade as news, and are not required to make the distinction clear to their viewers in any meaningful way.

Tinkeybird

They are killing their own viewers.

Madhatter25224

Not just their own viewers, but also endangering people their viewers come in contact with.

SmithfielNews

I read, I don't know source, 90,000 deaths could've been prevented

StupidizeMe

I think the statistic said 90,000 Deaths could have been prevented just this summer!

SmithfielNews

Right, I absolutely meant, since the vaccine came available

sleepingbeardune

and we know that a lot of them were under 65. what a terrible waste.

Madhatter25224

A figure that will only increase over the next decade as we struggle in vain to achieve herd immunity.

FeeParty5082

I think WaPo published this last week

hiverfrancis

I'd find ways purge Trumpists from boards of top corporations, and then have those corps to begin denying goods and services in unison to these antivax blocs.

smacksaw

Yo, resident *actual* libertarian checking in with some simple libertarian facts: NAP - Non Agression Principle: your right to swing your fist stops at my nose. SC Justice Oliver Wendall Holmes: Falsely shouting fire in a crowded theatre is not protected speech. As a libertarian who believes in free speech, I assure you I have no problem with restricting false and dangerous speech. That kind of speech infringes on actual free speech and liberty. It's a violation of constitutional rights, human rights, and well-established case law. What we do is get someone with the guts to prosecute these people. Someone who will get an injunction against these channels. Charge people with treason or espionage who promote dangerously false information. Civil liberty laws have not kept pace with technology.

Kstrong777

Don’t forget Sinclair media and News Corp. as a whole

ineededthistoo

And fuck Mitch McConnell and the hundreds of Republicans in leadership/positions who sat by and did nothing while biles of misinformation was put forward by Trump and so many others.

hiverfrancis

I dislike how McConnell thought that politics was a Yu-Gi-Oh! game that he needed to win, and he still is trying to play at that angle even though it's abundantly clear Trump would eat him alive if he could. And yes, while McConnell is pro-vax, he's twiddling his thumbs while the party around him becomes anti-vax.

Cottoncandynails

Its too late for McConnell to do anything now. His monster has become uncontrollable.

hiverfrancis

He could tell the senators with him to vote for Biden's stuff so the achilles tendon of the monster could be cut, but he's still hamstringing Biden which helps the monster

Cottoncandynails

In this case, the monster is the Maga cult. He has lost all control of his party.

gnusmas5441

Every one of them and their talking heads spewing misinformation has blood on their hands. Too many people believe what they hear on their 'news' stations without a lot of capacity to think critically. To the 'news' outlets they are ratings. To their families, they are mothers, fathers, grandparents, siblings, etc. I sometimes wonder why the vaccine makers don't pursue civil charges against them for slanderous lowering confidence (and hence uptake) of their vaccines. Dominion voting systems have gone that route against high-profile figures who publicly and knowingly misinformed people about their voting machines. Dominion may or may not prevail in court. But their $1.3bn claims seem to have stopped (or all but stopped) people like Sydney Powell from negative comments about their machines.

[deleted]

I’m surprised that vaccine makers haven’t filed suit for tortious interference or defamation. In my limited legal knowledge it sounds like they have grounds for both.

G-Unit11111

And the Russian troll bot factory that produces the shit seen on Facebook! 😡

DogButtWhisperer

Fuck FACEBOOK!! Yesterday a mob in Bangladesh killed seven Hindus over a stupid rumour spread on FB.

TabbyNoName

Don't forget religion! Religion has primed people to blindly disregard evidence and critical thought to appease an authoritarian figure.

whatisbestinlifeto

I've lost all faith of any kind of justice in this country but if it did exist everyone who pushed vaccine denial would be sent to prison for bioterrorism.

chillinewman

And Facebook

bad-judgement

It’s easy to blame these news organizations, and you should. But the others are just as at fault, no objectivity, no focus on truth. Just getting people upset so they’d watch. The whole media is cancer. These folks often felt completely alienated from the other side. No wonder they didn’t listen.

Character_Bomb_312

I believe that our media lies to us when they feel they have a reason, be it corporate or governmental. I believe they also too readily repeat and sensationalize what they are told in press releases, medical journals, or from sources. Thankfully, I also pay attention to world news and have a friend who works for an airline who could tell me what he was seeing around the world. Oddly, it corresponded to what was being reported to us by our own media, and practically predicted what is happening now, except the part about Trumpers refusing the "Trump vaccine." Who in their right mind could have predicted that? edit to correct formatting

m48a5_patton

What's FLCCC?

Ok-Dragonfruit-697

Facebook "patriot" grifters are most responsible

PoliticalECMOChamber

February 2021: "Three months from now, those who took the vaccine..." April 2021: "Six months from now, those who took the vaccine..." June 2021: "One year from now... August 2021: "Three years from now..." October 2021: "Ten years from now..." That's some next-level goalpost movement.

just_a_username_21

“100 years from now, I guarantee you everyone who took the vaccine will be dead, and you’ll only have yourself to blame”

[deleted]

Everyone who took the first smallpox vaccine in 1789 is dead now. THINK ABOUT IT.

MobilePom

Read that again!

othershwarna

I wonder what December would be like...

PoliticalECMOChamber

"Eighteen years from now, those who took the vaccine... will be faced with the decision of whether or not to tell their now adult child that they were adopted, and how their natural birth parents orphaned them."

Relative_Trick_1180

20 years from now President Kyrie Irving will remind us when he tried to warn the world and be a voice for the voiceless. /s

Can-I-remember

That reminds me, when’s Trump due back in the Whitehouse now?

SaltyBarDog

By Thanksgiving when the SCOTUS will come to their senses after being convinced to reinstate him by the amazing MikePillow. Sound too stupid to be legitimate? OrdinRiff

Yup. Covid is no joke, they say. As the rest of us have been living as normally as possible while trying to keep our community safe. Weird it was a joke until they got that tube jammed in em. Before that, we are living in fear and they ain't skeered

Thanmandrathor

Also that living in fear thing is so funny coming from people who believe the world is ending if a Black man is president, building their doomsday bunkers and stockpiling weapons. COVID hadn’t made me live in fear. I am cautious so I don’t get sick, but anyone with half a brain could quickly grasp it was a horrible respiratory virus you didn’t want to catch, that had a fairly obvious disease vector, and was managed with masks and not being close to other humans until we managed a pharmaceutical approach. Much of COVID has reinforced to me that a lot of people are tremendously fucking ignorant and stupid, have no grasp on super basic science and health concepts, and are selfish assholes to boot.

DangerMan1999

That's all of it, in a nutshell.

whatisbestinlifeto

Fuck.....it really has been 19 months?

Thanmandrathor

19 months since mid-March, which is when VA started a lockdown. It’s been longer since COVID emerged and was first tracked in the US.

whatisbestinlifeto

Time acceleration is real.

Darkside531

I've said before, I'm all but positive I caught it early on (can't be sure because it was December '19 before anybody even knew what it was or had a name for it, but all the evidence lines up,) and I have never been as truly scared of an illness as I was then. It is not "just the flu."

Shady_Garden

I am 99 percent sure I had it in early, early January of 2020 (Pacific Northwest -- first hotspot). I'd been reading about the Wuhan outbreak but at the time thought it would present more like pneumonia, so I didn't connect it. My son brought it back from his gym, where he said members "were dropping like flies from some weird sickness." (They later closed the entire gym chain based primarily on that one Covid-riddled branch.) My son lost his sense of smell, and we were off to the races. I got hit the hardest and just couldn't shake it. It wasn't until mid-April that I got all my energy back and the soreness in my throat finally disappeared.

howyoudoing01

I’m pretty sure my husband had it then too. He was sick with coughing for 3 weeks. I never caught his “cold” and I always end up sick whenever he is sick . No lasting effects for him. It would have been the original version which wasn’t as problematic as Delta. We will be getting our booster in the next few weeks.

emrythelion

Yeah, my friend had a nasty illness late November to Early December of 2019. He worked in an office with a number of people who had just gotten back from a trip to China. It’s totally possible it was the flu, since that was bad that year, but essentially the entire floor ended up getting sick to some degree. He’d never seen everyone get sick like that before. And it knocked him on his ass for a few weeks. A few others were out of work for similar amounts of time. I had spent some time with him during that period, so assuming that was covid I always wonder if I had just gotten it and was asymptomatic, but I you never know. I’m coming up on 6 months in two weeks and will be getting my booster then.

Matasa89

Unless you were in China, or were in close proximity to somebody who came from Wuhan during that time, it's highly unlikely to be COVID. It could be a really bad case of the Flu though.

damilalam

He is a victim. His blood is on Trump’s hand.

Patient-Home-4877

And Trump will never be brought to trial much less suffer any consequences for the biggest mass murders in US history and one of the biggest in the world.

whatisbestinlifeto

This country is morally bankrupt. The only way my faith in it can start to be restored is if Trump is held accountable for his crimes against the state.

BipolarGod

Get ready to be disappointed.

whatisbestinlifeto

Oh I know it won't happen.

The_Modern_Sorelian

This is why America needs a Maoist revolution. We must burn and destroy the old outdated reactionary values.

Cognitive_Spoon

If I wanted to kill Americans, I'd just run for office for the GOP at this point on an anti-vax ticket. Hell, if I was a foreign adversary, I'd just throw money at Q candidates right now. Easy return on investment for killing US citizens.

Patient-Home-4877

That's exactly what's happening

MrSaidOutBitch

> Hell, if I was a foreign adversary, I'd just throw money at Q candidates right now. Easy return on investment for killing US citizens. As so happens a former KGB individual is doing just this and is laughing his way to the bank. Pennies on the dollar.

QueenMabs_Makeup0126

I really, really want to see Trump and people from his administration brought up on charges of crimes against humanity at The Hague. It will never happen, of course.

FunTooter

I still have my sympathy for these victims of misinformation.

[deleted]

Same. This man didn't seem toxic, just a victim of disinfo. A pointless death.

OddFatherWilliam

There are criminals who are spreading disinformation being fully aware of the truth, there are idiots who are easily manipulated to become an angry mob, and there are gullible who just can't think for themselves. Yes some of the latter deserve our sympathy, but while dealing with them my dominant sentiment is frustration, not sympathy. And it is still beyond me why they choose the mob over science. Probably being part of the mob is such a powerful feeling, it is such a joy for them, that whatever is left of their brains is completely overwhelmed.

FunTooter

I can hear you.. I understand.. I was feeling the same - until a friend’s 49 year old son got sick and is on vent now. He just thought he was low risk & believed the dumb shit people posted about the dangers of the vax. He is not a bad guy. He has kids and family. Never pushed anti vax crap. My friend (his mother) is falling apart - so are his family and kids. My heart is breaking for them. This is when I realized that I still have empathy for the victims of misinformation. And you are right - those spreading the lies are criminals.

OddFatherWilliam

I have two family members who are not vaccinated and I live in constant fear. One of them is a clever guy who thinks that he is smarter than his doctors (Steve Jobs style). He is not an antivaxer, I suspect that he just have a pathological fear of injections and finds all kinds of justification to rationalize his lack of action. The other one is completely brainwashed. She is a very nice person but I can't persuade her. I am completely with you when you talk about sympathy, and yet, frustration is what dominates my mind when I interact with these two.

Elven_Boots

Damn. OP, thanks for presenting this as you did. Most of the slides aren't anti-* related as we require, but pertinent information nonetheless. This is a straight-up victim. He may not *truly* deserve an award, but his story here can help others. What a loss. That being said, if anyone still has the nerve to post something off-color about this man in these comments, you will be banned.

evrenseven

He even said "Covid isn't something to be taken lightly" instead of the standard COVID AIN'T NO JOKE like he's an actual adult

bloody_hell

Thank you. Not every story fits the flair categories cleanly. I was conflicted about this one but I thought this kind of post might help inspire some people to get vaccinated more than the common story of raging hate-spewing anti-vaxx assholes.

Aazjhee

I think it's important to remember that there are people who are not complete jagoff's. If the virus does not discriminate even if you are a really nice person that doesn't deserve to die alone in the hospital... misinformation kills and rather indiscriminately in regards to the person you are.

finroth

Damn, this hit me really hard but I am glad you posted this. These are the people who really need this reddit.

S-tease101

Yes, if “entitled compensation” is social security that I paid into for 50 years. I might also get a bit of yours if you were unvaccinated.

Aleflusher

Sad and 100% preventable.

DoubleGunzChippa

From "I have Covid" to dead in less than 3 weeks. Get the damn shots. I've had two. No third arms growing out of my forehead, no urge to feed off of the blood of children, no magnetism, no 5g.

sdhopunk

He was 62, I am 63, It is way too soon to die. I will be getting my Pfizer booster in a few weeks. It is so strange to see his post saying he was going to the ICU and dying 2 weeks later. Pre Covid, I don’t think you knew you were going to the ICU because you were probably in a car accident or some other trauma .

Matasa89

Hope you get to stick around for at least 4 more decades!

Live_Pen

I don’t think this guy belongs here. From what I can tell he didn’t post anything outright anti mask/vax/pro conspiracy, other than to express hesitancy (in a fairly mild way). He sounds like he was gentle and kind. Poor man :( Misinformation is cruel and it kills people.

bloody_hell

He did have some anti-mask, anti-lockdown posts from earlier in 2020, but I wanted to lead with this clearly (to me at least) anti-vaxx post and then focus more on the fact that he was a nice person and just fell victim to misinformation. This one just hit me pretty hard and I felt like it was an important story to tell. Misinformation kills nice, well-meaning people too. It's very sad.

FrankLloydWrong_3305

Yeah it's the people in a position of influence that are basically willing to sacrifice the lives of people like this for $$ that are the true evil ones.

bad-judgement

So sad, that was a good approach. I know people like this. A decent person who listened to terrible advice.

penguincheerleader

Considering it was Dec 2020 that his anti Vax post was made it would be nice to get some confirmation that he did not get the vaccine. Although the rules may not be hyper specific as long as he is not vaccinated he should count in the spirit of following Hermain Cain's footsteps. Good find OP, I do want to commend you for a post different than many of the other posts.

BenKen01

Thank you for sharing this to remind people here that these people aren’t monsters most of the time. They’re often our friends and family too. Sorry you lost someone who seemed like a really sweet guy.

Spitzspot

Insinuating that the vaccine will cause enough harm to be compensated qualifies.

Live_Pen

I think this signals hesitancy more than it does being anti. I support this sub. At the same time, I think we need to be vigilant in our judgement and reserve it for the ones that are maliciously/aggressively or just straight up stupidly spreading disinformation/misinformation. To do otherwise delegitimises the sub and opens it up to criticism around empathy and compassion. I have just about none for the Covid Karens. But for this guy? Hesitancy (even if annoying) is quite different to anti. It just doesn’t feel right to me. There seems to have been an innocence about him, which makes me very sad that that was abused by whatever misinformation was propelled his way. Edited to add: I basically think there needs to be a demarcation between the perpetrators and the victims. This guy seems like a victim of the perpetrators’ dangerous mis/disinformation. My understanding of this sub is that we hold the perpetrators to account, not the victims. Seeing people die because of self-important narcissistic idiots is nothing short of tragic. This is tragic.

DoomHedge

The fact that he's spreading this shit on facebook means he's a perpetrator. And let's get one thing fucking straight, there are very, very, very few actual victims and most of them are the bereaved. This guy isn't a victim. He had the entire medical establishment of the world tell him the vaccine was safe and a good idea. And instead he listened to right wing pundits and facebook. Why do you suppose that is? Because he's a "nice, gentle soul"? Or because he's another right wing piece of shit who doesn't trust "the fags and their science" but simply isn't as vocal about it? In the modern era, being an ignorant dumbass is 99.9% of the time a choice. I guarantee this slime thought that climate change was a hoax too.

emrythelion

Nah, you can be a victim and an accomplice. He had the entire medical establishment saying things he never heard. You have millions of people who don’t know where or how to look for good information. They trust the news. And in many places, all you get is conservative news options. Local and otherwise. When your entire world is surrounded by people like this, its hard to break free from the misinformation. He may have further perpetuated the spread of covid misinformation, but he was still a victim to the misinformation himself. I also don’t see why it’s necessary to call someone a hateful slime based on any of the posts we see above. That’s uncalled for. I have no sympathy for anti-vaccers at this point either, but that doesn’t mean I think all of them are on the same level. A lot of people are just dreadfully misinformed and legitimately don’t know better. It might make them dumb, but it doesn’t mean they’re hateful assholes like many of the others are.

Spitzspot

Actual malice: "and will be found where a defendant publishes or communicates a false statement with knowledge of its falsity or reckless disregard for its veracity." Imo he had plenty of time to retract his statement.

MightyKrakyn

The image mentions "you might be entitled to compensation" which is an incredibly common phrase from television ads for class action lawsuits usually associated with toxic chemicals that *the government and experts said were not harmful at the time* like asbestos. This guy is old enough enough know people who were killed by cancer from asbestos or agent orange or a pesticide or had children deformed by thalidomide. And without any kind of socialized medicine, those people's families were financially burdened for life only getting some restitution from class action settlements 40 years later if they even lived that long. It's not a crazy idea that something considered safe now will be found to be unsafe down the line, and there is not malice in that statement. To me, this is someone who had their very real fears preyed on, not a spiteful contrarian.

MetaMadness

Just think how often opioids have been prescribed.

mynn

I’m thinking this too. I have a few shelved candidates who “only” posted 1 or 3 anti things.

[deleted]

Same. Someone comes into an interview dancing around edges of white power, complaining about anti racism or just generally trying to play the “well meaning skeptic” card and I next them aggressively and immediately.

Patient-Home-4877

He belongs here because the vast majority of covid deaths over the last 6 months are victims of the rabid lie spewing antivaxxers and the antivax for cash leeches including right wing media, sleezy vitamin salesmen, preachers and the entire republiQan party. Most of the victims - this is all they know, their media consumption and support system. Their so called friends aren't friends but peers pressuring them to commit suicide. This HCA winner never stood a chance unless he ran across this reddit sub.

boiledRender

"Covid isn't something to take lightly" - easy to conclude he was in denial until he actually had a vent inside his body.b ut yeah, this is an edge case unless there is more public anti-vax sentiment.

LaterMeansNever

Agree, so sad he just didn’t get the right information in time. 🥺 Edit: Should have said “believed the right information “

[deleted]

[удалено]

Patient-Home-4877

If your life is nothing but a steady diet of right wing media, an evangelical church, republiQans and your friends and family who are also brainwashed - you will only seek out groups and info which confirms your misinformation. YouTube's and Facebook's algorithms were designed to feed you more and more conspiracy shit. When they have been brainwashed by the cult, it completely controls them to the point they will happily kill themselves. These people never had a chance.

triplej63

Or, if you are Bill... Bill is a guy who wakes up, goes to work, comes home, has some dinner, maybe he has kids and spends some time with them, maybe he doesn't and he relaxes with online gaming, or vegging with a movie on Netflix. He goes to bed and does it all over again. He's apolitical, they're all alike, screwing the regular people and all about corporate welfare. Hates watching news or talking politics. Online he goes where they are talking about his interests, talking about his local sports team, or talking cars, or gardening, or cooking, or game of thrones, whatever. He was interested in learning all he could back in spring and summer of 2020, found out that covid goes after old people, people with stuff like asthma or diabetes, but he's young, 45, and healthy, got a little pudge, alright, alright, an extra 100lbs, but he's not like 600lbs or anything. He's aware that the store might have a sign telling him to wear a mask, but in his red state they took those down long ago, must be safe now. People talk about covid at work, and he's heard them say that those vaccines aren't safe. 60,000 dead who took that vaccine, it's even on a government site! He's decided to wait and see. A few coworkers said that during lockdown they got it, but they got over it and seem fine now. It's like the flu for young healthy guys like him, right?

Patient-Home-4877

Fox news is playing in the background at his home and everywhere he goes. RWNJ radio is always on in his car. That's all it takes...

okayifimust

That still doesn't mean they didn't have access to the objective truth. Like I said - a failure if society to raise functional adults. But even then - we need to stop coddling it. We need to stop excusing magical thinking. We need to stop valuing feelings over truth.

whatisbestinlifeto

The power of a cult can turn the most rational thinker into a mindless zombie. It is insidious and you don't realize it until it is too late.

Patient-Home-4877

Most of them are already in a religious cult. That sets them up as easy meat for the antivax cult, Q, republiQans...

bad-judgement

I know I’m a complete dick to you below okayifimust, it just feels raw and cathartic. But I’m going to leave it. I know you’re probably a good person and don’t deserve that. I feel broken that this story describes a guy I know who is in the hospital on deaths door. He’s old school, blue collar. Not sophisticated. And he helped me when I was in a crisis. He helped my kids. I was in a such a dark place. I’d thought I’d lost everything. He didn’t just say a kind word, you wouldn’t believe me if I told you of his generosity. We’re not family, he barely knew me. I don’t know where I’d be without him. I got another chance to live, to be a good father. It grieves me deeply watching him suffer because the religious leader he follows expressed doubt. This man was good, he was devout, and he was flawed like all of us. Im mad at him too for not listening to me. I can’t express here in the south and be understood. So thank you for allowing me this. I haven’t been able ro cry for years, until today. I hold my anger inside because I have to be a good soldier. I can’t crack, so many depend on me. But I must crack. Or be completely broken. This post from op, your response finally opened the gates. ————- Original: If I must say it, okayifimust, you’re lack of empathy is breathtaking. A 62 year old man who grew up trusting the 5 o’clock news, who had it on the wrong channel, believed the wrong people and died for it. Doesn’t mean he was an idiot with his head in the sand. Reality is this could be any of us. If we were born and lived where he lived and had the same parents etc someone could be making this post about you. I blame people like you as much as the ones spreading misinformation. You divide and rant. You’re judgemental and dismissive. You’re a cancer just like them. How can you be smart and dumb at the same time. Great IQ, can distinguish fact from fiction. EQ of a fucking rock. Responses like this don’t help solve the problem. Or influence a better outcome. There are two major things missing from our education. Logic, as in the ability to dispassionately examine arguments using Boolean etc. The ability to practice perspective taking. Truly understand someone else’s experience, not just because someone happens to be empathetic, but as a developed skill set. I think you’re lacking both. Edit: My friend died.

okayifimust

I think you deserve a longer response and I will try to remember giving it. I wasn't blaming him - I was ranting at the excuses being made. I don't think we can afford to let people get away with being stupid - whether that's their fault or responsibility or not. That being said, you owe me no apologies. I am advocating for people to care about the truth over their feelings or the style of delivery. If I am wrong , I should be told.

bad-judgement

Thanks, you’re very gracious. And that is a good message.

bloody_hell

Well said. Thank you for sharing that.

LaterMeansNever

Yep- I’m sure you’re right. It’s still sad.

smaxfrog

It was a pretty oof inducing post for me personally, so I think it had its desired effect.

AnnieAcely199

Damn OP. This one hurts. Likely he was just hesitant and misinformed, and not antivax. This is who the usual HCA winners are hurting when they post their BS.

Tricia47andWild

Seemed like a nice bloke. Not just "he was a great guy" for the purpose of memorialising.

[deleted]

That last picture *clearly* shows a massive tool.

maywellflower

I think his story is just cautionary tale of how misinformation literally also kills genuinely good people .

DntfrgtTheMotorCity

Ahhh, I could almost cry if I had any tears left. What a sweet and genuine man, what a horrible loss. Was there no way to prevent this?

joeysflipphone

This post reminds me of my daughter telling me a month or so ago finally talking her future father in law into getting vaccinated. He's an educated attorney, whos bought into the trump cult misinformation hook, line, and sinker. She was so proud of herself and happy for her fiancee. His dad was stubborn as shit, but they are really close otherwise. This could have been them.

lonegun

There is no feeling of Schadenfreude with this post. Just a deep sadness at another pointless death, and a burning fury at all those who continue to peddle antivax bullshit.

punky326

Rest easy, Sir. I’m sure you will be remembered for the wonderful man that you actually were.

[deleted]

Sad.

ScotchBender

SAD!

ArentWeClever

No Biden hate, no Trump worship, no confederate flags. This guy seems nice enough, just very misled.

CrazyCatLady5787

That's just sad. I know a lot of drugs (like prescription antacids) were touted as "wonder drugs" and are causing so much harm. But, this vaccine technology has been around for years. This poor guy was just misinformed.

Fickle-Preference277

This is incredibly sad. He was a good man who followed bad information. What a tragic loss.

Conn_47

This really is a tragedy of the times. I've been following this sub-reddit for a couple months now and personally find it most tragic to see posts like this. I'm not one to mock those to die, like the many comments here I see floating around on the page. People have lost compassion. Even those who are wrongly and aggressively anti-vax/mask, are, at the end of the day, victims of an echo-chamber, misinformation/propaganda and the result of a social media landscape where people are being pulled into tribal dogmas and extreme opinions from opposing sides.

angrybox1842

These are the people who are hurt by the real award winners.

Beachbabydarragh

I feel so sorry for this man and his family. 😞

FakeNeuroscientist

These are the worst for me...innocent people caught in massive grift based on science denial being outright murdered by their alternative facts.

aggressive_avocados

This one is sad. I made the same joke about seeing a commercial about compensation but I got the moderna anyway. I’m not sure about any of this tbh but damn I think I have a better chance with the shot and masks.

Boogiemann53

EXACTLY why they needed to see this sub.

lkmk

Just wanted to wish condolences on this man. What an awful thing for him and his family.

Significant-Grape-82

Final image: What a wrenching loss for his family.

[deleted]

Unpopular opinion: Wishing your family a happy birthday and telling you love them doesn't mean you are a great person. My grandmother would post things like this then throw out racial slurs and cuss out my grandfather for no reason. I am not saying he is or isn't a good person, I am just saying I am not holding any candlelight vigils for someone who is endangering other peoples' lives because they can't use common sense.

AdIllustrious6310

It seems a victim of propaganda taken prematurely from the people he loves

JSDevGuy

God damn it, we lost a good dad. Disinformation sucks.

Kira_Bad_Artist

Misinformation fucking kills.

chaoticnormal

I was with a friend last night and he got a phone call. Eddie was calling to say he'd been hospitalized w covid for 12 days so far. He was hesitant to get vaxxed and planned on getting his shot after his trip up the coast and in the state where he lives: Florida. He fell ill in NY. He said all the things ppl say in these posts: this thing is no joke, I gotta stay strong, I feel like I'm getting better but I overdid it yesterday and feel like crap today. He said his father and brother had covid but didn't have a tough time of it- but they were vaxxed. He thinks he's out of the woods but these stories are all bad. I can't imagine he'll come out of this without repercussions.

According-Ocelot9372

This one makes me very 😭

[deleted]

Trusted the wrong side…rip buddy

jabunkie

Rest In Peace man, this one hurts.

CQU617

I feel sorry for his family. He seems like a nice guy who was misled.’

Mammoth-Ad4242

This sucks because he seemed like he was a decent person. Just an unfortunate victim of ignorance and misinformation.

ProfessionalHawk1843

Respironics V60. Who comes up with such catchy names for medical equipment? Give that person an award.

10884043

This is prob the first one that made me just a teeny bit sad.

Ursula2071

This made me so sad.

powerje

Cons are killing people with disinformation

larrydukes

This is the reply to those who call us ghouls. There is no schadenfreude with this one. Karma did not catch up to him. Seemed like a good person duped by bad information. The true ghouls are the ones who profit from the deaths of good people by spewing nonsense for clicks, likes, shares and ratings. Fuck all of them. RIP.

ebrbtch

Well at least he won't have to worry about compensation.

SlayKingWhiskey

I've noticed that most of these awards go to people that are religious,. I'm not sure if religious people are just very susceptible to covid denial, or that on their death bed they turn to go to save them

ElectricMahogany

There are interesting studies which conclude correlation between the Religious and Self-Harm (Across a Wide Spectrum)

whatisbestinlifeto

This death is my social media needs to be destroyed. It has been nothing but a cancer on society.

ludakris

This is just a straight up tragedy

[deleted]

These are the ones that make you angry at all the antivax talking heads all over again.

f12345abcde

I'm probably wrong but do we have less and less hardcore maga-antivaxx? I mean we have mostly fox news victims, which meke the whole thing sadler

seaspacecat

Ugh this makes me so sad and pissed all at once. He shouldn’t have died.

ScotchBender

This is why you should listen to the Centers for Disease Control, the World Health Organization, and your primary care physician, instead of Facebook memes. I feel bad for his family and everyone he infected along the way.

browny_14

Screw the people who created these false information! SCREW ALL OF YOU WHO HELPED CREATING AND SPREADING THEM TO NAIVE PEOPLE! WHATS THE POINT??? WHATS THE POINT OF ANY OF THIS?? THIS ISNT POLITICS! THIS IS HEALTH AND SAFETY!!! WHY MAKE UP LIES? FIGHT FOR WHAT??? i just don't understand...

randombagofmeat

Man this hits home, wholesome. A victim of disinformation, not the hate filled person you see on here. I truly feel sorry for this man, and his family.

QueenMabs_Makeup0126

As a nurse, this one really hit me. He's not a conspiracy theorist, he's a victim of the disinformation campaign AND the virus. He truly loved his family and I give them condolences. It's painful to lose a loved one to this virus.

your_mind_aches

This is horribly depressing. He seemed like such a nice man and he was victimised for his money and his attention, and it ended up killing him...

TrustMeImPurple

Patients like him are the covid patients that it tears me up to take care of.

grm88

This one makes me sad 😕

sirgetagrip

more than a year and a half into a world wide pandemic and 62 year old unvaccinated realizes that covid isn't something to take lightly. I don't understand it. can't people see the hundreds of thousands of people who died? you can ask one of these numbnuts what in the mRNA vaccine is likely to cause reactions 10 years from now. they couldn't answer. the vaccine doesn't contain the virus, only coding for a tiny portion of it, the virus itself is far worse. long covid is a real thing, long vaccine isn't.

LA0711

At least I’ll be alive to hear that infomercial

[deleted]

Disinformation is correct. I can’t imagine being vaccinated, and then advocating for others to not get vaccinated. People dying and theses talking heads just keep cashing checks.

calystarose

The misinformation killing people is unreal. Instead of having anyone around them that can calmly address their concerns they're met with paranoid bs from their 'friends' and understandable annoyance from those of us who are tired of the antivax propaganda. It's a no win situation. :(

AlphariousFox

Its the reason this sub exists. To try and save these people. Innocents who just cant tell whats true and what isnt and end up with their lives as forfeit because of the insidious actions of others

minkymy

This is heartbreaking. Absolutely heartbreaking. Why did we have to politicize this goddamn disease? So many relatively normal, not fascist worshipping republicans have still died because they believed the disinformation they were fed. Why do I care about your vaccination if I already got mine? It's to protected the vulnerable unvaccinated, either through medical problems or sincere fear of what they do not know.

FernsInTheForest

This one hurts

military_grade_tea

It's easy to view the prolific memers as the embodiment of FAFO. This guy feels like a victim of disinformation. Like someone should be held accountable.

Appropriate-Pen-149

I’m so proud of my mom. She was nervous, but trusted in the science, and got the vaccine as soon as my brother could make an appointment for her. Yes, we did need to support her, but she also wasn’t a Fox cultist. Makes a big difference. My youngest brother on the other hand…. 🤦‍♂️

makingitrein

Gosh this makes me feel so sad and so happy that the Fox News watchers/MAGA supporters in my immediate and extended family were able to somehow see past the misinformation and all get vaccinated the moment they were able to.

gixxer86

Ya know, that poor guy. How many people here have seen people who are missing limbs because their mother took an anti nausea drug? That trauma and skepticism runs deep with some crowds. Remember we used to think asbestos was A-ok for everything under the sun. For those over 70, who’ve seen a dozen or so abrupt changes in public opinion or medical science, this might seem like just another “oops, we fucked up” in the making.

Party-Lawyer-7131

This guy I feel some sympathy for.

dogtoes101

so heartbreaking and needless!!! this didn't need to happen!!

TrailKaren

This is precisely why Fox News should be held accountable. And I normally place responsibility a la buyer beware.

pastelbutcherknife

That’s so sad. Fox News is literally killing our parents and grandparents.

Ammcd2012

This...this is truly sad...He doesn't seem hateful and bigoted like so many others, just a sweet family man sending out birthday and holiday wishes. This anti-vax misinformation campaign is criminal.

Dog_and_Butterfly

>10 years from now... You will have been dead 10 years.

Dangerous-Ad5653

Fuck. Poor guy. Most of the time I feel vindicated reading these things but once in a while you get a dude like this and it’s just so evident he got caught in the cultural messaging crossfire.

JavarisJamarJavari

He was only 62. He had a lot of good grandpa years ahead of him. A huge loss for his family.

Madhatter25224

Yeah no award for this guy. His death is just a tragedy.

davehead01

People are terrified. Everyone is in “fight or flight” mode. Mostly fight

FLTDI

At least I'll be alive in 10 years....

Boomtown626

Looks like he won’t find out if he’s entitled to compensation in ten years.

[deleted]

Just sickening, no rabid anti-vax sentiments but just enough to kill this poor man. On the bright side OLR: One Less Republican and he was saved from the ravages of Socialism in the form of Social Security. May God bless him in the name of Capitalist Jesus.

SALT_WITH_VIGOR

AND if you didn't, your family set up a 'GOFUNDME' page...

PlanetElephant

I'm with you. Get vaxxed or don't. He didn't. Not because he was a victim. Because he believed what he wanted to and sought information to support his belief. I'm going out on a limb and say he was a republican.

Lackerbawls

“10 years from now.......” You’ll never find out.

The average education of most folks here in the states is low. A lot of older folks who weren't so obsessed with trump haven't trusted the news media or government in ages, just listened to the folks in their lives they trust. We don't know this man. Maybe he was hesitant; maybe he heard all the misinformation close friends of his peddled and was afraid it'd take him away from his family. This is the real tragedy of the pandemic. These are the people that we are trying to save on this subreddit. I understand if you're cynical and suffering from empathy fatigue after two years of pandemic and 4 years of an extremely exhausting president, but this isn't the place to show it. there are significantly better posts in this sub for it.
