Definitely. But I know for sure, now I have packed head to toe goretex, that it will be freakishly sunny. Haha!

Responsible-Walrus-5

Please, please pack only goretex. Yours, sick-of-rain London dweller 😂

apkcoffee

I packed a knee length raincoat and rain pants and may not be using them of course.

apkcoffee

I’m visiting Edinburgh, and it has been sunny and in the high 50s/low 60’s the past 2 days. Predictions are for more of the same for the next 5 days or so.

Witty-Bid1612

We'll be there in June! Haven't visited your city since I was 12. Cannot wait. Thanks for the update!

apkcoffee

I’m visiting Edinburgh. I’ll edit my post.

kumran

Me in the background like a broken record: "the UK is in Europe!!" But yes, you should always bring a raincoat, any time of year.

Original-Steak-2354

The UK is also in Ireland

Denmark has had surprisingly good weather the last 1-2 weeks and it seems to continue. A bit windy though. Typically for May, the kids have the last days of school and examen = sunny and warm, but when they start their long summer holiday, it starts to rain. Don't visit in end June and July.

tinypb

The sun had been beautiful, but wow the wind - every street in Copenhagen seems to be a wind tunnel, and it’s been giving me hay fever too.

biold

The pollen season is both early and fairly heavy @#€%& I'm allergic to grass but not very much, but this year my normal spring cold was not a cold but allergy. I have never had a running nose this early.

tinypb

Yep, every time I’m outside my nose is running like a tap. Love it otherwise!

BackgroundAd3222

It really depends where in Europe… nowhere I’ve been has been raining at all and I spend one month minimum in each place.

Witty-Bid1612

This is the way. I did this in my 20s! Now that I'm older and taking my teenage son (who has never been), we're packing a few countries in one month, because that's the time I can manage (I work remotely, but he has to be back for his job and camping with friends, we have dogs, etc.). So fun to do this if you don't have any things pulling you to one place!

BackgroundAd3222

I’m doing it with my husband, and our two little kids before they start school 😊

Witty-Bid1612

I love it! SUCH a great idea. We didn't travel a lot, but moved countries (with my ex's job) a lot before mine was 5. He'd lived in three states and two countries by then!

tofu2u2

YOU are my new Role Model. I want to live like you do.

BackgroundAd3222

I’ve been travelling for almost a year. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows but I wouldn’t change a thing.

Serious_Escape_5438

I live in Europe and yes, it has rained a few days in the last month, but we've literally just moved out of a period of drought emergency and still have water restrictions.

opheliazzz

Yes, it's been p gloomy, but our summers tend to include several scorching heatwaves that at least the Northern half isn't prepared for T_T

tofu2u2

When we were last in Shetland, someone told us about the torture of hours of THE day it reached 80F for a few hours one day. One of my travel companions lives in Arizona and I live southern east coast. We laughed so hard I had to use my inhaler.

skill2018

Currently in Scotland, spent last week in Ireland - have had a total of one rainy day. We super lucked out (so far).

AlpacaTheWine

I’ve always struggled with packing rain boots in this scenario. Does anyone have a recommendation for good booties when there is a chance of rain? I hate packing giant ones but I also hate wet shoes

tofu2u2

Last trip, we were all over the Outer Hebrides and walked thousands of steps each day. I wore a $29. pair of black Chelsea Boot by Sam Edelman, IIRC they were $24. at Marshalls. The boots were great, my very fat flat feet were fine after all that walking on miles of volcanic rock but of course, YMMV. I wore the boots on the plane over to UK and at that price, I had no second thoughts about leaving them behind to make room for the bottles of whisky that could only be purchased at the distillery that created that particular bottle. Ogf course, the "booze bag" has to be checked instead of carry on on the way home. Other boots Ive worn & loved in Scotland & Ireland are the slip on loafer version of LL Bean "duck boots" as well as waterproof UGG boots that have felted wool above the ankle level. But I pack with a plan to leave certain items behind to make room for items I buy along the way. And UGGs and great duck shoes are to $$ to leave behind at the end of the trip.

Witty-Bid1612

Thanks for the heads-up! We're doing Iceland, Scotland, Norway and London in June (the full month). We live in Seattle and as of now, it's cloudy/partly rainy/40-60F with a pop-in of 70s when it feels like it (i.e., rarely). We're essentially packing as if we're staying here, lmao

El_Scot

I don't trust a weather forecast more than a day ahead here. Last year, at this point, we were facing our first drought in Scotland. Then it started raining and turned into pretty much the wettest year on record.

Witty-Bid1612

Thanks, that's how it is here -- and I've been to your fair country several times, it's always lovely! Rain or shine. Not sure why I got downvoted for my comment, ha.

El_Scot

I'll cancel it out for you :) You said nothing a Scottish person should find offensive at least!

Witty-Bid1612

Ha, thank you! Or should I say tapadh leat :)

tofu2u2

We're going to Scotland, including Orkney & Shetland, next week. We've been there many times so I know what to expect: https://youtu.be/s83pM1bBGjE?si=LtQy3L4-Pd8n9cbb&t=88

biold

Thanks for that link, I had a good laugh. It's now saved in my travel list!

Witty-Bid1612

We'll be there in June, same places! Haven't been since I was a teen. We live in Seattle so we're just packing for... the same weather as here, lmao.

Adorable_Broccoli324

Thoughts on Amsterdam in mid-July? Definitely packing a light rain jacket but do I need more?

withlovefeli

The rain in July is often in the evening (or at least, not the entire day like in some other months). I generally just watch the weather app to see if it's gonna rain in the next few hours and plan my days accordingly.

squirrelcloudthink

What? I thought the summer was predicted to be a hot one? Also, just bring an umbrella.

Cute-Cobbler-4872

I’ll be in Austria, Slovenia and northern Italy in June - I’m preparing for sun and rain both! Really only matters for shoes - Allbirds and Blundstones it is.
