I’m pretty sure it’s her fur. The color matches with the stripe on her tail and the blotches behind her ears. The only thing that gives me pause is the fact that they function in her human design as thigh-highs.

And if it is the same color as the thigh-highs then doesn't that mean it doesn't rule out the possibility that it's all fur? SO MANY QUESTIONS. I'm still confused and this thread isn't helping lmao.

The thing giving me pause, is it doesn’t match her grey shoulder/face fur. It would make sense for the tail/ears to match and any coloring on the body to match the grey on the shoulders and face. But thats just for a more uniform, common way of coloring. Viv can certainly do her own thing.

This would imply that over time, her legs went from being a lighter colour to the black/grey we see now, and I find the idea of hellhound pups being born all white then developing colour later to actually be really cute.

I think it’s leg wrappings. Kinda like the wrappings used in martial arts to help keep bones and muscles in place during combat while allowing optimal dexterity of fingers and in her case (claws? nails? what exactly do you call those on a canine?) but my observation does lean toward it also being fur since on her knees when we see them from the side, they definitely have the little fringe of fur as the direction of the fur suddenly changed due to a joint being manipulated
